  1. evidently there is a semblence of sanity in both corners. this guy isnt a fool take the money for a year and if you feel disrespected after putting 8m in your pocket then feel free to take a walk. in all of sports its the nfl players who i feel have the right to bitch the most. they cut your ass even if you perform well, you're probably going to die before youre 60 and by the time youre 40 youre walking with a permanent limp,if youre walking at all.
  2. if espn programming sucks what does that say for the other networks such as fox?? who wants to marry the girl with chlamydia my other mommy is a man dancing with freddy mercury....etc... its incredible former beauty and current mental douchebag paula abdul, the faggot from duran duran and the token black dude are the most watched faces on network tv these days. this nation can name the last 3 winners from survivor but couldnt in a million years name their congressional reps. the networks pander to their audience and seeing as though its a slow time for sports we are stuck with s*** like the bronx is burning and way too much of steven a smith. thank god for the baseball package, HBO and the other 999 channels that generally offer me relief from the misery of network tv.
  3. hes at 27.7 now a 20% increase based on what hes doing is certainly reasonable
  4. didnt he K 5xs saturday?? if the yanks werent into self mutilation theyd have a pop
  5. drew sucks but not quite as bad as the dodgers i cant even get excited over arguing about this subject. when was the last time the nl west was relevant?? a league with colorado san fran sd and the dbax would be amongst the best in the international league but in mlb its a non factor. you guys dont even matter in the national league. the dodgers havent mattered in 20 years. and for the record your owner frankie 5 angels mccourt owes me rent money going back to march so dont look for any help at the deadline the man took such a beating over the last 18 months i cant believe he hasnt been found in the trunk of a car at logan airport yet. lugo blows wow, youre a deep thinker but he looks like manny compared to nomar these days. what happened to nomar outside of being raised in femme ruled socal? it seems like yesterday he was flexing on the cover of si and now. well now he looks like hes got the aids virus and is hitting accordingly whats it like to have your 3 hitter locked in with 2 hrs at the break?? whats it like to have the face of your franchise not being as athletic as his bulldyke wife?? THANKS BEAUTIFUL randy wolf?? his era is 4.75,do you know how that translates in the big boy league? derek lowe?? i dont think this f***ing guy wasnt even offered a contract by the american league. brad penny is having a great year. hes on pace for 35 starts too!! that would be a 1st 16-9 last year with a 4.35 era,or about what julian tavares would deliver in the nl. this year hes a cy young candidate till he goes on the dl in august. i'll talk baseball with the dead but you dodger fans are essentially f***ing idiots who have no social outlets and appear very very undersexed and angry. i suspect if i were a dodger fan id be angry too. sucking is sad irrelevance is worse you are both. chris benoit parenting lessons?? i dont know what this implies outside of how small you are and how much you suffer because of your lack of stature in the real world. get a grip kiddo theres someone for everyone out there.
  6. ya 225 era what about inherited runners?? he lost the closers job because he couldnt do it he got it back 1st game out he lost it again the man is not to be trusted with a baseball in boston i for 1 have no complaints or worries about our bullpen not broke no need to f*** with it. a reliable rh set up guy would be ideal but mdc has been pretty good since hes been up,especially over the last week so i dont see us pulling the trigger for this guy based on his prior failures and our bullpens solid peformance.
  7. pena played some 3b before didnt he?? i know i saw him with a 1b glove on in the spring evidently that idea went out with theos plan to use joelle piniero as a closer hinske and papi can play 1st and i suspect we have some other infielders who can in a pinch i say we keep the battle tested crisp till the season is over if someone has to be moved let it be K pena i dont want to move ellsbury unless someone is dangling a 40hr guy or a 15 win pitcher
  8. hes been a shell of himself since pujols abused him a few years back he lost his closers job in the nl central? we dont need another jonah with game 7 anxieties on this club
  9. the outfield in general, with the bloated exception of pena, has performed well since I/L play started both drew and crisp are at .265 and at are getting on base crisp is driving the ball and grabs a couple bases here and there i like him drew? hes a proffessional ball player so we can expect him to hit .300 over the 2nd half the power#s arent there and may never come due to the vastness that is fenways right field but in this lineup he'll get shot at plenty of rbi with the guys in front of him. ellsbury came as advertised,he can hit and he can run but he does indeed throw like a woman. anyways as someone said above, his experience here was nothing but positive and he gives us some options down the road
  10. not this year but look out down the road their starters have been much more consistant, their pen eats it offensively theyre good with some new faces they need a legit #1 and they need some arms in the pen
  11. It's starting to look like he's taking steps towards being a legitimate major league shortstop the journey of 1000 miles begins with the 1st step unless youre in pro sports then you gotta perform within a schedule that dont break for adjustment or fatigue lugo is a catylist when hes on and would be huge down the stretch
  12. i heard he scored from 2nd on a wild pitch this morning that speaks volumes if lugo could perform at all and crisp can get some abs the 3 of them would put a s*** load of pressure on any defense problem is ells is taking crisps abs so far so good outside 1 real ugly K
  13. bonds won 3mvps when he was skinny, here in lies my personal dislike and what pisses me off the most about him he did what he did later in his career because he was jealous of the attention mac and sosa and s***,luis gonzales hit 58 in az??those guys were loved and adored and wished well and while we suspected,we didnt care till aarons record came into play... the press porked him in 91? giving terry pendleton and his 13hrs the mvp over bonds ive never really been a bb fan and hes been out there in frisco so i missed most of his hr hitting bonanzas over the last several years outside sports center imagine if he played in ny?? hed have 800 by now imagine if he had legit protection?? pedro feliz and paps molina are a joke jeff kent matt williams bobby bo and andy van slyke oughtta put a statue of bonds up in their homes due to the pitches they saw with bonds in the lineup.. he had#s like ruth did in the 20s slugging obp etc....infukin sane anyways ted and bb may not be equel in a lot of ways but the baseball side of the story is eerily similar williams won the triple crown and hit .406 and didnt win the mvp why?? demeanor and perception sir... that would make a saint go out looking for vengeance. williams post season was limited and didnt end well bonds legacy in october was s*** in pittsburg and i dont really know or remember how he performed personally in frisco,i dont follow em enuff nor did i watch him specifically. i admire bb for his 5 tool game that lasted 15 years and was a treat to watch the last couple years hes just embarassing for the game and ultimately to himself.. thanks for the tip i havent read a full book since i got married 57 years ago but i have some time this summer
  14. I just think at this point I'd take the 22 year old player with dominant post moves and let him pick up some defense as he goes, with the outside shooters we have now. __________________ and if youre rebuilding this is the obvious move if youre feeling the pressure to have success now?? well then you sacrifice tommorows possible glory for 45 wins in the east and a playoff birth ray allen?? he isnt saving us from mediocrity
  15. you men make valid points and the fact is he dont need us i am of the mindset that when you hang up your spikes and its 5-10 years later and all you have is a s*** load of personal achievments but no ring what do you look back on fondly?? thumper you're a ted guy?? me too,my people who saw him say he couldve hit 756 if he wasnt busy winning medals in the a/force.. do you think he wouldve done more to shine up his public personna if he couldve done it again?? i do his last image in a sox uni was him flipping off a not sold out park and disappearing into the dugout forever after he homered.. greatest ever and he couldnt sell out the park or do a curtain call or did the fans even ask for one?? sullen miserable prick according to many but the #s dont lie and thats how hes judged now everyone wants to be loved even that jug headed ********** isnt above that and when he hangs em up there will be a shadow of regret in his mind... the fact is he cant go into any city without getting his balls broken in the worst ways imaginable unless its in frisco where they probably love him for other reasons than his power...not to mention the torment his kids go thru on a daily basis... i may be wrong but when this guys done i predict lonely hours filled with regret
  16. the business end of it was a no brainer s*** on concessions and tv fees alone they'll get their initial investment back in the 1st year i would figure (not too familiar with the tv money japan and the sox worked out but the yanks made a killing) i just didnt expect this guy to walk into the heat of boston baseball with his entire nation watching him thru a microscope and redsox nations expectations in his face for 90 days before he even pitched and then perform as well as he has... okha pavano and armas jr were dealt to the expos for petey.....in the fall of 97 the guy wer kept was brian rose who was the I/L pitcher of the year in 96 i believe?? in anycase he didnt win a game in boston and i think he ended up in colorado... pavano was the key to this deal but the other 2 guys did ok for themselves over the years never great or even good but just good enuff to hold a slot anyways the sox ownership group shocked me with their creativity and their commitment and with 19 different partners in the owers group i didnt see this coming and i think the rest of the league was just as blind sided as i was... good f***em
  17. barry bonds shouldve used arods image consultants or taken a lesson from his Godfather on public relations and speach etiquette as well as a lesson on humility and sportsmanship he didnt anyone over 40 remembers his old man the 1st 30/30 guy if i recall and he did it for many years he also was a ********** and labeled selfish and played for many teams due to the level of arrogance he infested the clubhouses with,he never won s*** either if memory serves me right.... on the other hand willy mays may have been the most beloved baseball player in history... of course we'd rather see griffey or say pujols or papi or whoever get the record barry maybe the most unlikable man in sports since jack tatum, maybe more so.... but barry is getting 756 1st,right wrong or indifferent and i can say with a straight face that hes the best ballplayer ive ever seen in my lifetime, roids or not... he is what manny of us see as all that is wrong with pro sports and it is very difficult to defend his insolence. hes a selfish egomaniac fuking jerk and a guy with a chip on his shoulder towards whitey no doubt he has issues with white america and he relays his feelings thru the media thats too bad if he acted like sosa did in 98 he would be bigger than life nationwide we need a guy like that now in this game. instead he acts as if we got his family in prison and are torturing him each day he walks out on the field after 756 he should give it up and find bill buckner in idaho
  18. seems he gets stronger each time out this was an opinion many of the wise men sold this guy on he gets better each time he gets the ball, more he sees a team the better he performs i buy it they had a japanese guy in eei's both last week on the holley show he says dice mania has subsided and he actually said the japanese publc was a tad let down by this guys start?? granted for a while hed give up a big inning each start but since i/league play the man has been a beast ya tampa ya sandiego ya it hasnt exactly been the iron but its the consistancy that i feel matters here his 1st 1/2 season has been a huge success for this front office and for this guys 1st trip around the league i will be the 1st to admit my bigtime scepticism in our 9 figure investment and i based this on our previous eastern players as well as the other big time names who made the journey over here...nomo had a great start but never could maintain a consistant level of success, susuki, seattles 1 time closer had a great rookie year but eventually went back.. tomo okha he of the 14-0 pawtucket start was moved for petey along with pavano and tony armas i believe all 3 had roster spots this spring,10 years after the deal.. he did pitch for 10 years but never was more than a 4 guy in the nl. then we had robinson"cy""checo, duquettes big time far east coup he sucked also sunny kim, bunny kim, sang seoung and a cast of other guys who i consider failures here in the fens i was leary to say the least but i freely and gleefully admit i was off and wrong in my initial opinion of this man and so far hes been better than i could possibly expect and i suspect his 2nd half will make theo et.al look like fukin geniouses.... kick in the performance of the middle man oj and we are farting thru japanese silk with these 2 pickups meanwhile the yanks are using kei ""dr han dear brother numpsie has forgiven me"" igawa and gotta be let down by his suck ass effort so far....irabu is cy young compared to this guy dice k as a business move it was a huge coupe but competetively it has been just as good if not better how do the nintendo crew in seattle let this happen?? many, almost all respected baseball men had dice k as the best available arm in the market last year...again this is a dangerous and expensive lesson to learn 1st hand.. with seattles edge and nys market i wouldve bet a fortune he wouldnt end here thank God i was wrong and the f/o did what it took to land him here...
  19. lugos slumo just isnt this year he was a backup in la because of his putrid 2nd half last year this is a year old slump and his glove dont justify this
  20. maybe 5 teams can afford him legit 2 in la 1 in chicago and 2 in the al east maybe even the mets if you will what is he looking for? quiet stardom with big city promos and no pressure? west coast adoration and a mighty challenge? chitown staying in the fire or crossing town or moving north?? in any case the heat will be on him like never before if he moves if he stays he gets the luxury of being accountable for gary sheffield playing in detroit and a pitching staff that would struggle in pawtucket a no win unless he wins it all situation hes got 200+m in the bank getting juice up the ass no alimony as of yet either so the cash is nothing but an ego thing at this stage 30m?? sure but maybe he take 22 and go to the cubs for 10 years?? who knows whats on his mind,we need to consult his image people
  21. i'll talk baseball with a cab driver who speaks nothing but hindi i'll talk baseball with the operator who puts me on hold i love the game more than any other becuase its unique ok mr dodger fan you seem bent on discussing baseball to a certian extent based on your last paragraph am i typing in haiku format?? i never took poetry after high school but i wasnt privledged to be educated in cali i apologize sincerly kind sir..... j schmidt you say ok im on record here if you go back to last summer in suggesting we offer the house for the guy i admit it very openly i wouldve invested in him before the dice man and i wouldve been sick to watch his collapse this summer...no doubt all the available arms this offseason none i wanted more than schmidt this is why i work in the heavy equipment industry and dont have a position in baseball nothing hurts la more than an absent schmidt, nothing a guy penciled in for 33-35 starts and 220 ip with 200 ks and a 3.25 era has given you jack s*** and we're into july come sunday i like dlowe and penny is ok and randy wolf survived the meat grinder that philly is to young arms,he can be effective the moose broxton is a keeper but i suspect the rest of the pen incuding an untested closer can be had christ ho ho tomko is getting meaningful innings as is wuuuuuuudy seanez 2 men the al cast away for a bag of rosin the nl west was best described by gammons some years back you build a pitchers ballpark, get some sinker ball pitchers and play defense and you can be competetive. chavez ravine made millionaires out of some real suck pitchers chan ho park and pedro astacio come to mind immediatley i feel the nl west is a competetive league but only amongst themselves the sox took 2-3 against sdiegos best dice and becks were simply dominant in that park and the sox arms are better from our #1 to our closer than anything out there in my opinion a healthy schmidt improves la immensely but you dont have that you got a guy on the dl with a 50M nut and a lot of questions and an offense that is rather tame and beatable against good pitching
  22. clem is perhaps the best pitcher in history between april and august you gotta figure hes going to boost any team that gets him despite how you feel personally about him or his nat league central #S come fall strange s*** happens to him and even the odds makers get it in 04 game 7 against jeff fkn suppan he was a 140/130 dog granted the stros werent as good but as anyone whos ever bet a baseball game knows its all on the pitcher and raja was the cats ass all those years he was in texas pitching his ass of against the brewers and pirates this year his starts have been against nl clubs with the exception of this week the pirates the rox at the time the reeling mets the mets are a good club but werent when clem saw them anyways he missed his shot in the fens when his ""groin"" acted up in trenton as he prepped for the big boy show that was his time to take the yanks on his back and become the rocket for the flailing yanks but torre knows what raja does with the world on his back and he didnt want this experiment to end as have so many of clemens huge starts in the fens ended, especially so early in the summer with plenty of time to get back in the race... torre had the vision of him holding an ice pack on his ass crotch or shoulder after 6 earned in 2 1/3 and the yanks having to deal from behind with their savior in the tub before the show was under way he was quietly being questioned from everyone in nyc from the nerd mike lupica to little joel sherman to george""pitchers need not apply"" king to everymans hero mike vaccaro... where was clem and why isnt he in boston this weekend?? theres still 3 months of baseball left and raja is fresher than all of the league but is still 45 and is up against 9 hitters a nite and a more competetive field of teams nobody is easy, all 9 men swing he took the coin and made his prince valiant announcement to that sunday crowd as if he were napolean or caesar back from the dead to save the peasnts but the reality is he hasnt earned his keep and the yanks have yet to respond for him offensively, his deal was special in a clubhouse full of special cases its failed so far but we havent seen the end of him yet
  23. i smell a survival mode in place over there now danny is gone with another 50 loss season,so is the coach so they move on ray allen. we already had ray allen in paul pierce rondo isnt a starting point guard im not sure hes an nba player
  24. the dodgers are a 4th or 5th place team in the american league theres no baiting to do you cant compare the 2 teams 1 team is the best in baseball with the best 3/4 hitters in 70 years playing together a team deep in pitching with arguably the best closer in paps and a legit cy candidate in becks the other?? the other is lucky colorado dropped 8 in a row or theyd be in 4th place i didnt like the drew deal,i certainly make my feelings known about it this is a sox discussion board thats what these things are for, argument, conjecture, what if etc.... if i wanted to discuss the dodgers i would be over there but i dont find the dodgers really worthy of my time outside the occasional asswipe dodger fans who find their way over here for some sadistic reasons im not privy to. theyre a 2nd rate team in a 3rd world barrios who made a bad deal for an outfielder and a worse deal for a 50M pitcher. whats your point outside of a feeble attempt at busting balls??
  25. crisp is playing well and recently as a leadoff hitter has produced offensively he has no arm he runs like a thompsons gazelle and can cover a lot of ground in that cavernous triangle hes an asset with the glove a liability with the arm and bat
