What Do YOU Take Away From the Weekend?
Mr Crunchy replied to BoSox21's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
When i handicap baseball i tend to play streaks and pitching and like to play good teams vs bad if theres a decent line... The lines are established based on pitching, even last place teams can be favored in baseball when they have a stud going. Lee was on his game big time last night and Wakes also been on fire, the line was essentially a pickem so I liked the sox just a little bit more due to their run as of late. I used the reverse login when i played the Yanks 2 teams with decent arms going i usually play the home team but I enjoy betting NY, if i lose they lose too, if they win at least i get paid. I dont figure the yanks to go on too many 5 game losing streaks this year but would you play them tonight with Phil Hughes being a tiny dog over Jackson? Brad Penny is also a small dog in Cleveland with Reyes going for the tribe. Do you follow the streak or avoid the bad Penny? This isnt rocket science but sometimes its more difficult. Ya i just got wind of that, i shut the game off with NY down 3 during the 7th inning stretch i didnt figure that Sabby would be brought out down 3 in the 7th, when i went to watch the end of the game it was already over, ny melted like ice cream left in the car in august. i bet the yankees and the sox last night boston was a small dog,the yanks were a small favorite....Dont like to play road favorites by nature but i figured after getting swept in boston ny would show some fire. Boy was i wrong, they had all the spark of 2 octogenarians wrapped up in a 69 session. -

In the Al east if you can play .575 ball you win 93 games, a good year but will it be enuff? that may be good to get you the division but the wildcard maybe coming elsewhere. I think of it this way we play 1458 innings a year, 6ip is a quality start, that gives you 972ip from your starters and leaves 486ip for your bullpen. Your closer is good for 75-90ip per year so that leaves 400 for your middle guys. I like our chances in this arena. Anyone watch ny last night? Sabby went 6, gave up 4 and a foul ball hr on a hi outside fastball that Inge pulled 475 feet. When rightys pull your hi outside fastball 475 feet foul you dont have much velocity. How many innings is Nick Swisher prepared to throw for the yankees? -
Anyone see Joe Thorton in the last couple weeks? Put the boy on a milkcarton, how does 1 do a houdini in the playoffs like this guy did? amazing

Ellsbury a quiet guy, if you must bean someone take a shot at Drew, hes the guy who is showing you guys up...He needs a ball stuck in his ear hole... anything to get him fired up would work for me. Without don zimmer who's going to fight for the yankees? -
Heres what i see a washed up sabbathia who may have an era under 5 but has been lit up by last place teams and has managed 1 effective start against KC where he tossed a shut out. 75lbs overweight,a slow starter and a worse finisher and they blew their load on this f***ing guy who didnt want to be in NYC in the 1st place...He will have his moments but the idea of him being a #1 in the AL is ******** and i think NYC is coming to terms with this, if you get 200ip and a 4.75 era be happy. a very effective Burnett, THE man if you will, hes the ace of this staff, no one else is capable petitte also effectively consistant, no longer capable of dominance but an innings eater and a crafty f*** joba has shown me a lot of courage and has decent #s but he loses his command, seems distracted and simply put cant dominate as a starter as he did as a set up guy because he cant throw 98 for 7innings a game, honestly he has impressed me more by battling than he has in the past. will he be a starter?? i think they needed him in the pen more but we'll see. Wang?...they didnt give him a lot of money despite his impressive win totals hes awful now, down right awful and embarassing himself, maybe he take some lessons from Hideki Irabu and the endless list of pitching failures that have been decimated mentally in the bronx. Hes about to Black Jack McDowell the crowd with the finger I feel

Yeah its April and nobody in Boston is sucking each others dicks over this but seeing as though they were an out away from losing game 1 and they were down 6-0 in game 2 against the yanks ace......... its a good weekend for us sox fans. The Yanks looked rather pedestrian and their pitching was just horrible. God help you if Drew and Ortiz show up. -
BB loves the SEC kids but Harvin has bad ass written all over him. Chad Jackson with attitude and a posse if you will.
-
Ya, the plan....The plan was to build within until the guys within couldnt handle the job so then they went out and gave the bloated sabbathia an 8 yr deal and 85M to burnett while hoping wang would rebound and win 20 again....Meanwhile their winningest and id have to say their most consistant pitcher over the last 10 years retired, they couldve wooed him back like they did petitte but didnt. Im simply suggesting that they miss having Mussina in the rotation every 5 days, consistancy is something thats been missing from these guys,Mussina was consistant. The biggest culprit is the bullpen? I hate to argue this because the bullpen does suck and i mean really suck however... When your #1 and 2 guys have 7 starts between them and theyve given up double digits in 6 of them i would say the bullpen is getting taxed to death. When you spot your legit#1(burnett) 6 runs and he gives back 8 in 5ip the bullpen isnt responsible. what happened after that is of course on the bullpen but the yanks starters have been f***ing putrid.. Why not Hughes and Kennedy now.....it is time to panic because that pen isnt getting any better and the minor league studs are indeed pitching well, if not now, when?September would be ideal in a perfect world but Damaso Marte hasnt gotten anyone out in the American League, he isnt pitching in the NL Central anymore. Forget about the guys in A ball, you know better than that. 1/2 wont be in their system after July 31st when theyre lingering in 4th place,9 games out and go after Roy Oswalt and Bronson Arroyo to save their season while Hughes and Kennedy lead Trenton to a 142-20 record in AAA ball.... They have no plan, theres never been any patience so long as the Steinbrenners ran the show. they are reactionary and have been since the old man bought this team 35 years ago.

Pittsburg?... id sooner and would much rather admit my sexual desires for a man than admit i was from pittsburgh but i believe we've discussed this before. The facts are the pats Defense isnt better and they didnt get a guy who can kill the clock by carrying the ball 25xs a game either, if we had dillon in 2006-7 we may have won both years instead of losing both season ending games cause we couldnt burn the clock out. The Pats will score a ton this year but the Guru himself, BB, is like Bobby Fisher. He sees matchups that will occur 3 years from now and plays the draft and money game as good as anyone..We dont know why he does what he does but theyve been a top 5 team now since 2001 and theres no reason they wont be next year either. In fact both Pitt and NE are going to be there in the end just as theyve done so this entire century. Both clubs are well run and have managed to stay competetive even with the albatross of the salary cap hanging over their heads. The smart money has the Pats going all the way with the rest of the NFL being an aftter thought, i dont agree with this assessment but im not holding all that patriot money either. This is an offshore site as opposed to a boston based shop so the lines are essentially as accurate as can be without the Boston twist being in play. http://www.thecitybet.com/wager/CreateSports.aspx?WT=11 3001 ARIZONA CARDINALS +2500 3002 ..... 3003 ATLANTA FALCONS +3000 3004 .... 3005 BALTIMORE RAVENS +2000 3006 ... 3007 BUFFALO BILLS +5000 3008 :.... 3009 CAROLINA PANTHERS +2000 3010 :... 3011 CHICAGO BEARS +1500 3012 :... ... 3013 CINCINNATI BENGALS +8000 3014 ::... 3015 CLEVELAND BROWNS +6000 3016 ::.. 3017 DALLAS COWBOYS +1200 3018 ::. 3019 DENVER BRONCOS +4000 3020 ....: 3021 DETROIT LIONS +8000 3022 ...: 3023 GREEN BAY PACKERS +2500 3024 ..: 3025 HOUSTON TEXANS +4000 3026 ..::. 3027 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS +1200 3028 .::.. 3029 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS +3000 3030 :::.. 3031 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS +6000 3032 ...:: 3033 MIAMI DOLPHINS +4000 3034 :....: 3035 MINNESOTA VIKINGS +1800 3036 :..:: 3037 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS +400 3038 :.::: 3039 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS +2200 3040 .:::: 3041 NEW YORK GIANTS +1000 3042 :::.: 3043 NEW YORK JETS +4000 3044 ::..: 3045 OAKLAND RAIDERS +8000 3046 :. ..:: 3047 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES +1500 3048 ..::.. 3049 PITTSBURGH STEELERS +1500 3050 :.::.: 3051 SAINT LOUIS RAMS +8000 3052 . .... 3053 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS +1200 3054 .. ... 3055 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS +3500 3056 ... .. 3057 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS +4000 3058 .... . 3059 TAMPA BAY BUCCANNEERS +4000 3060 . ... 3061 TENNESSEE TITANS +2000 3062 .. .. 3063 WASHINGTON REDSKINS +2500

Bruney has easily been their best pitcher not named rivera in the bullpen and now he's out? The yanks best get some deep starts from their hi priced rotation, wheres phil hughes and ian kennedy? they are going to have to get into the fire sooner or later, kei igawa would be more effective than the s*** theyve been using..All of a sudden Mike Mussina looks like a gigantic loss.

What Do YOU Take Away From the Weekend?
Mr Crunchy replied to BoSox21's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
Well we can safely say that NY's bullpen is absolutely going to be their demise but their starters havent exactly shined bright either. Joba tapdanced thru machine gun fire Friday but i was rather impressed with his game under duress. Burnett gave up 8 in 5 and Petite couldve gotten KO'd a lot sooner had we a couple of timely hits. Petitte dont make my ass pucker like he used to but I still fear him due to past misery. How many men did Drew leave on this weekend?...Seemed like the population of Bangladesh were stranded..Hard to bitch when we sweep 3. I wonder if thats why we decided to steal home with 2 outs, the bases loaded and the highest priced ball player we have at the plate?? With Ortiz MIA Drew really needs to step it up and be the man, he hasnt but we all know he can be the man...Perdroia played Saturdays game like he needed a hockey helmet on out there but i forgive quickly. Big time courage here men, Lowell is leading the AL in rbi? Tek, with 4 hrs already including the one that killed Cock Robin on Saturday. Ellsbury has turned it on and with him producing the offense has rolled, our boy is playing with a lot more confidence. Ramirez is the man in the 8 hole, huge effort out there and Delcarmen is earning his money. Masterson has delivered 2 solid starts in a row Lester has lost something on his command, i dont know why he cant throw consistant strikes but when you walk Esse Molina twice in 4ip I have some concerns. What else? Ortiz? A couple of wall ball rbi's and a lil production but still no dingers and we're 70 games bereft of him homering, is he now a Dmitri Young type hitter? Can we live with 15-20hrs and a .290avg from this guy or is he even capable of delivering the decent average...Lots of issues with Ortiz havent been solved. anyway A banner f***ing weekend for our home town heroes and a weekend of exposing the soft underbelly of the overpaid under achieving yankees, who may be looking for a manager soon. Johnny Damon is still the catalyst in NY..Jetsey lost 1.5 steps at short but is still potent offensively, Cano is smoking the ball and Cabrerra looks a lot more into it this year than last year and is living up to and beyond this years expectations. I am sure Tex will have his 38-120-.300 and i wouldnt be surprised to see Posada slip and come back to .285..Matsui is a shell of himself but may improve as the year progresses. Does Arod even matter?Scoring hasnt been their problem. Seeing as though his most productive days are between april and may and the fact that he cant pitch, im not sure he makes all that much difference... how long has he been off the juice?.... this could matter in power #s but i expect him to perform well enuff to be considered a failure come October. -
Ya and Nomar never tested positive either when he went from 160lbs to 190 in 1 offseason and essentially broke down the very same way. There are clear cut signs of roid or Hgh use and the decline that follows is usually preceeded by offensive prowess, some last longer than others but hitters get better and more powerful thru their 20s and into their 30s, not weaker. Nomar hit 30 hrs and .372 in 97? i think he hasnt hit 30 since they started roid testing has he? i dont think rocky has either...As i said earlier, theres no regret as hes got his money,he isnt a dope fiend or a big time boozer and is set for life...The fact of the matter is he made the big time, was considered a stud and then the roid testing began around the same time his career fell apart. This isnt a natural homerun hitter like Giambi was, this is a skinny guinea who had his shot, made his money then fell to the mysterious injury bug that plagues almost all these guys who break their cycles cold...I certainly hope he regains his health and can perform like he used to.
-
Carter was raking the ball in florida, id be more inclined to give him a shot but evidently we're thin in the outfield. Who had a better spring, Baily or this guy?
-
Links?... No links, his dad told me a couple years ago and says there are no regrets because the kids made his money and never has to worry about working again. his primary concerns were long term health issues and embarassing himself nationally.
-
Gutty effort by Sabbathia, real gutty. Those swinging A's are a juggernaut in the making and to hold them under 10 runs is quite an accomplishment for this fat f*** with his hat turned cutely to the side like Lenny Bias used to do at Maryland over 20 years ago. 7 years and 11 more months to pay this bloated douchebag? He'll get better when they see KC again and when interleague play opens he will shine...(shine?no pun) Brian Cashman you are a f***ing moron only exceeded in stupidity by the Fredo brothers. And again, does anyone go to the games at all? I know it sucks out but come on....I can here the beer vendors arguing with customers and the drunk guy in the bleachers screaming obsenities.
-
Roids destroys careers, this kid had been on the juice since his high school senior year according to local sources... Once reminding people of Joe Dimaggio with his swagger and running style he now reminds people of Nomar Garciaparra, broken down and a shell of himself, at least he didnt marry a lesbian.

Whats their to expand on? Joba hasnt accomplished jack s*** inspite of the team bending over for him, making that assinine Joba rules thing and then watching him get hurt yet again. Hes booked for DUI and proceeds to lambaste everything in NY from Yogi Berra to the citizens of NY. Hes like the Boomer, the 6'4 320lb son of a hells angel who got his teeth punched down his throat by a 5'2 dago named rocco gravalese for mouthing off in a diner at 5am.. Big, burly and a loud mouthed ****. Joba has impressed with his velocity but hasnt hit the next level, what we refer to as consistancy.
-
Theyre too deep in pitching to suck all year they may struggle to score from time to time but their pitching will be good enuff to keep them in the race till the end,id like another bopper, especially since ortiz isnt hitting the ball well or at all. they didnt gear this offense any differently than they have had in years past so the big guys are going to have to hit the ball but i maintain the key to this teams success is at the top of the order, when ellsbury gets on base they win...If he dont they struggle.
-
Havent really followed the B's much in 15 years but this team is deep, they have some scorers and they appear physical enough to get thru the east...No predictions here but if they won the east i wouldnt be surprised, if they win the cup then id be rather shocked...SanJose is down 0*2 while losing both home games, im leaning towards Detroit again to win it all, especially if they have an easy ride to the finals.. The B's have impressed me with their depth detroit impresses me with 4 lines but their goalie is suspect
-
Burnt Sienna, Pumpkin Orange and Margenta are colors that a psychiatrist dreams about discussing. As ive said 10xs here, burnett was the pick of the litter and if he stays healthy will be their #1 come september,i cant see sabby sucking this bad all year but i do think he was over worked, over paid and unhappy having to pitch in ny...I do think wang is an issue that wont be solved anytime soon, i think petitte is over the hill and i think joba is a volatile young man who has too much david wells and not enuff jonathan paplebon to reach his peak...Their bullpen is f***ing atrocious with rivera being the exception and once again they will need their offense to score a ton for them to be a division competetitor and they do have the sticks to stay in the hunt... Same old song and dance that can be cured by a young guy in trenton having the ability to walk into the clubhouse and give them 175ip of sub 4.50 er...anything short of that and ny is sucking hind tit again. anyone want to call mexico and get jackson cavity searched by the fedarali's?? id love to see a 600lb woman named carmen with long fingernails put on the rubber gloves due to a tip she got from the states.
-
6 starts between their 1@2 guys and 10 runs or more have been scored in 5 of these games, the 1 game when 10 wasnt scored was against KC. Burnett has been as good as can be expected. Steve""the yanks have the best staff in baseball"" Phillips should join Bill Buckner in Idaho after making such a stupid comment in front of the baseball tonight audience. I figure Sabathia to come back and keep NY in most of his starts but Wang looked like the little Chinese girl about to be double teamed by John Holmes and that black dude with the ivory bone pierced thru the head of his dick... His confidence level has been shot, stabbed and left for dead. Trenton is on fire and they have Kennedy, Hughes and Igawa waiting in the wings. How long is this guy going to pollute the field before he gets sent packing? Meanwhile that stadium is rather pitiful for a home field advantage, do they pipe the sound in? I saw so many empty seats up front i was wondering if they were playing an exhibition game and the quitness is just amazing... Those who paid 2500.00 a seat deserve this as much as the Fredo brothers. You dont even have to get on top of these guys to have the crowd grow quiet. That place has indeed priced the average fan out of the game and it has taken a place that was once a tremendous home field advantage and turned it into f***ing Brighams or for you Latte drinkers think of Starbucks... Im amazed at how quiet that place was even yesterday inspite of Michael Kaye's incessant ballwashing after Posada's Jeff Maier homerun and I havent heard Suzy Waldman that excited since Raja Clemens appeared in the owners box and announced his comeback in 2007. The tax payers of NYC must be enthralled by funding this piece of human excrement and seeing thousands of empty seats inspite of the team dropping 500,000,000.00 in the offseason.

Now pay attention Mj... Sabathia sucks,120 pitches and he cant get out of the 6th inning? Completely gassed as if he was doing a triathalon..... Fat f*** wont even get into shape for 20M a year? He oughta be a bargain come 2016 when hes in the last year of his contract and Dick Gregory has to help him wipe his ass cause he cant get out of his own room due to weighing 1500lbs. Pitching in Kansas City makes everyone look good, thats 3 2008 last place teams hes faced in 3 starts Maybe they can hold him back till they play the Pirates like they used to do for that other fraudulent **********,Rajah Clemens.... I like Bill Maddens article in the Daily today ""Even George Steinbrenner finds out what money can't buy"". Heres the deal and it stands the same for the sox...I dont care what your payroll is or who you have on your roster, inevitably the game will come down to the guys like Veras, like Bruney, like Coke, like Delcarmen and Okajima with the ball needing to get thru an inning...You can have a 15m per closer, you can have a 20M a year starter but the balance of many games lies between them. Sabby and Wang tung have made these guys work hard and its 10 days into the season. Our staff has essentially sucked as well, i think the deeper staff will prevail over the long haul.
