  1. Also the pats arent ever a player in the drafts 1st 5 selections and rarely get into the top 10. they understand the devastating effects of drafting a s*** bag in the top 5 and getting whaled with that cap # for eternity while waiting for the guy to either bust or shine. you dont have those issues with the 23rd pick.
  2. some insite to julius peppers http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/football/patriots/view.bg?articleid=1155616&srvc=sports&position=0 although John Tomasse is the centerfold for blew boy magazine
  3. Nobodys forehead grows out unless they got that gigantis disease, both petey and damons heads look like watermellons, not just weight gain but actual skull growth. After 01 Martinez velocity was down and I believe he hurt his arm in the 99 allstar game. for him to hang on another 5+6 years based on pitch selection and grit tells me something else was involved... too many big pitches in too many big games and being built like a woman is a bad mix. now he cant even get a minor league gig,he should retire under the same mango tree he grew up under, keep his money and enjoy the memories
  4. Johnny Damon in Boston covered a ton of ground in center field but never could throw, now that his legs are slowing down Damon loses his catalyst spark hitting leadoff in lieu of having more power but he doesnt cover nearly as much ground as he did in Boston. This guy is a walking example of HGH, look at his head from today vs his rookie year in KC...Crow Magnum didnt have this much differential from Homo Erectus..I believe Damon and Petey both used H in Boston.
  5. theyre paying dice k carl pavano money but perhaps i shouldve clarified that they never went balls deep pitching,if you factor in the payoff to the owners in japan i guess dice k was a big name. Lugo and Drew i wont ever for the life of me understand it goes beyond stupidity and into a realm of loneliness and misery that only theo epstein and his symphyionic ball washers can appreciate.
  6. outside pedro the sox never spent money on the big names.
  7. And Julius Peppers is waiting in the wings perhaps?? this would explain a lot of things
  8. Cassel was a 7th round draft pick and we got a 2 back for him. Vrabel was a free agent and we probably were cutting him anyway. What people fail to grasp is you need to manage your money as much as you need player personal evaluation these days, I loved Mike Vrabel and I think that Cassel had a fine year in lieu of losing Tom Brady, lets see what he does in Kansas City..Anyone remember the Miami backup who replaced Marino in 93,Scott Pedersen?? He had a good year in 10 games, Detroit paid him 16m for 4 years and he proceeded to suck inspite of having some good wideouts. The system and Randy Moss and the white guy make qbs look good.
  9. Oh theres plenty of history with sabbathia, he was used like a 10.00 whore the night before rent was due by the brewers last september and his october track record compares him with arod when it comes to big time performances..whats his playoff era?? is it under 10.00? John Smoltz and Josh Beckett are the 2 best money pitchers in the game since Jack Morris retired,i have no idea and quite frankly i dont think anyone does on how Smoltz will perform in the al east, of course i have my doubts but im glad hes here....Something tells me he will be a better ""Pitcher"" than the youngsters who he'll be competing with for time when he gets activated in June.Hes not to be confused with glavine or maddox, the soft tossing career nl guys who have no juice on their heat..Smoltz still had some fire left before he packed it in last year.
  10. He may sit out this year, wouldnt that be a kick in the balls and a blow to the ego maniac that is scott borass??.. Manny has 150M, think he really gives a f***? He blew it and if it hasnt dawned on him what he already lost it never will. Heres a guy who is the best right handed hitter any of us have ever seen, a guy who delivered 2 world series to boston,a guy who made Cleveland a baseball town again and a guy who is universally despised for his antics that have nothing to do with baseball and everything to do with what is wrong with todays athletes...The poster boy for bad behavior as lil JFK would say. Why did he do this? For an extra 10M dollars?? Gotta be deeper than that you'd think. you would hate to think that this guy would blow his reputation and alienate all of his fans for what amounts to be beer money... but its looking like thats exactly whats going down here.. meanwhile garrett anderson signed for 2.5M and Bobby Abreau, a player who has 100rbi and 100 runs a year every year is playing for 6M.. Both wouldve looked nice in fenway this summer.
  11. Wow is right, that was an asswhooping and a violent one at that. to walk into phoenix and denver and just pummel them without kg is a statement in itself. the nuggets didnt want to come out in the 4th quarter if i had to bang with glen davis and leon powe i wouldnt either.
  12. Wow, Andy Petitte....if this was 1998 I would be uptight but its not, Petitte has nothing and this is a mercy contract that the Steinbrenners are fond of giving their has been vets. a good backup plan when sabby goes down with knee surgery around memorial day and at that point Johnson will have had 5 starts in place of Carol Burnett. In all honesty the disgrace thrust upon the franchise and arod specifically takes a lot of pressure of sabby and the other guys they signed, call it a blessing in disguise unless arod comes out of april hitting 185 with 2 hrs...but thats not alex, hes likely to hit 20 in april, 45 for the year and then fall apart in october. the yanks have depth and are the prohibitive favorite to win it all....again 5 more weeks and then we see whos got what.
  13. Ask Lou Gorman about Willie Mcgee and why he was unemployed shortly after a similar comment.
  14. Gentlemen i saw the oakland a's win 3 titles in a row in a clubhouse that was more like a biker bar than a baseball clubhouse...If you asked the A's to vote reggie off the island in 1974 there wouldve been a unanimous vote to fire him, billy north too....Vida Blue ...Sal Bando Claudelle Washington etc...they hated each other. i dont want to be defending mannys behavior because its indefensible but my point is you can win with dissent in the clubhouse and its been done time and time again...also, if you go back to the hours after the clubhouse incident with the retired boston detective you will see that it was I who pointed out that this wasnt in fact settled and when the dust did fall to the earth there would be some shocking developments... I like world series titles more than my wife, i just need her a little bit more. Losing Ramirez has hurt our team even if they did go on a roll after he left. when Matt Garza sticks it up your ass in consecutive starts in the pennant you arent a good offensive team, they havent improved in that area and they havent restructured their offense to utilize specific talents... Bottom line is if Mike Lowell and Dave Ortiz fail to deliver this year and The Jake performs like last year we maybe looking at 3rd place. JD Drew is a guy who can carry a team when he feels up to it but thruout his career hes been a 100 game a year player and im not concerned why, does it matter why? is it his kids health is it his wrist after he got beaned 4 years ago is it his religion that prevents him from taking needles who gives a fiddlers f*** anymore,we saw this coming when Theo signed him its always been this way since he was 18 years old and bailed out on philly to play semi pro ball in Minnesota,he dont know the difference between pain and injury and if he needed these disks operated on last year then the son of a bitch is f***ing us by not getting it done. that my friends isnt going to help us after we lose the best right handed hitter on the f***ing planet. Im thinking hes healthy and i got him hitting 5th in a nice lineup that has a little pop,a lot of obp and some clutch hitting, instead I get this ""I feel stiff"" s*** to start my week.
  15. I do believe the sox f***ed up pretty badly by not persuing bobby abreau as well. anaheim got him for 5m/1YR? this guy is a jd drew type who plays 145 games a year, steals 20 bags, has an obp of .400 with some power..he maybe a walking disaster in right field but whoever is subbing for drew will also be a newcomer to fenways right field too.. I never liked Abreau at 19M per year but a 1 yr deal at 5M per shouldve been done easily Plus hes been an east coast guy his entire career and involved in several pennant races, the fact that the front office didnt even sniff at him makes me nuts.
  16. Youre not comparing Manny and Drew are you? Youre far to bright to compare the dainty drew with the manram. 1 guy is a 1st ballot hofamer and the best right handed hitter arguably in history. the other well the other is the poster ""person"" for playtex products, specializing in douchebags. HOW CAN THIS f***ING GUY NOT BE HEALTHY AGAIN?...Same injury that he had after his tremendous june still aint healed?? f*** HIM has drew ever played as many games as manny during a season?? We need JD Drews offense this year now that manny is out of the lineup and once again we cant count on him and this kilo, drives me f***ing beserk.
  17. Just look at the back pages of the ny papers when the steroid story broke. bill madden demanding they release him? a-hole a roid and this is in february.... now the yankee fan base outside the tri state area is fickle, they are the ""mile wide inch deep"" variety that has loved this team their entire lives but nobody knew it till 1996, these fans will come and go with the drop of a pin or a good 7 game losing streak in august but the real yankee fans, the guys who liived thru the ken phelps for jay buhner days have never really held tight to arod, the majoirity never were enamored with him and saw him for what he was,a mercenary who like roger clemens is awesome till it matters, these are the guys arod needs to turn around in his favor or he may yet find himself in the fetal position at bellevue sucking on a lithium lollypop. He wants to be loved, hugged and admired by his teamates and the fans but he has constantly put himself above everything, including the game, including his country(WBC) and including his family. the patriots suspended terry glenn before the 01 playoffs and won the superbowl the giants lived without jeremy shockey and won the superbowl would the yankees be a better team without arod in there? its very possible they would inspite of his gaudy #s.
  18. its the teams like jersey and philly that scare me most about playoff advancement these big teams, deep with defensemen and forewards who think defensively rather than offensively will be the teams that give boston the most trouble. theyve won the points title a few times only to get beaten early in the playoffs, theyre depth will help them down the stretch but im not in love with their goalie in a big game just yet. lots of ifs but at least they matter again
  19. You know, this guy hasn't had much luck under the gun. Bad playoff performance and being dropped to 8th, a failed marriage in a scandalous turn of events involving a stipper and then Madonna, his obsession with Jeter...it's one thing after another""... Luck? Rolling into the team hotel with a 6foot transvestite with a skirt up to her navel is asking for trouble. hanging out with madonna, a whore who blew the entire NBA allstar rosters,a chick who if had as many pricks coming out of her as went into her she'd be a porcupine, is asking for trouble..INTERUPTING THE WORLD SERIES to announce youre walking away from your team after being reduced to the 8 spot in the lineup while a 23 yr old cancer survivor closes the door on the deciding game of the W/S is asking for trouble.... This is just icing on the cake,he is despised by the ny media ny yankees and the ny fans. how are his image consultants going to get him on his feet?
  20. Shouldve put Drew in the package with Manny. I wish he'd quit, throw someone down a flight of stairs or simply move without telling anyone. laid up pretty much since last july with this ""lingering back"" issue its evident that he hasnt healed yet and will again be a f***ing albatross on our roster. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/columnists/view.bg?articleid=1152473&srvc=sports&position=0 shocking i mean who wouldve thought this possible. It’s still pretty stiff,” said Drew. “I’ve fought it all offseason. It’s been one of them injuries that have kind of lingered. I’ve been able to hit and run and do all kinds of stuff, but some days I wake up stiff and some days it doesn’t seem to be too bad. It’s just in the maintenance stages.” Drew worked with strength-and-conditioning coach Dave Page during the offseason to keep the back strong, but Drew is still not 100-percent healthy. He underwent an MRI, which revealed the only issue is the herniated disk. “As long as you can keep that from being too inflamed, I guess you can keep the back in playing shape,” Drew said. “Man, I’m hopeful (that it won’t sideline him). You can only do so much. You go in the weight room and try to continue to keep it strong and as long as you don’t get that major flare-up, you’ll be fine. But you never know - with the back, anything can happen. But a balky back isn’t Drew’s only concern. He’s mentioned to team officials that his left (glove) wrist is bothering him and at times, he experiences difficulty flexing or closing his glove. Is his wrist clicking too?
  21. 20 wins,a .500 record in the acc and wins against duke and nc get them in the tourney. they got the guard this year that can carry them into the 16 if they play together, of course they could be bounced in the 1st round depending on seeding. how they lost to harvard is just mind boggling, harvard couldnt beat the local boys club 8th graders.
  22. Some how i think manny was above it all his hr #s havent gone up or down and have pretty much been consistant every year the other guy im not sure about and the pitchers?well the pitchers have every incentive to heal fast.
  23. There should be an E for ...other....as in blame Joe Torre or Canseco or Bonds or Sheffield? no way this guy stands up for whats right, hes simply not capable. how many yanks have now tested positive? with arods 500 image consultants all in the bunker this should be amusing as to how this ends up.
  24. Id like to think Arod was clean when he sucked so bad but its not really important
  25. I wouldnt read it for free, i hate every single character in the book including the ""classy"" Joe Torre, what a f***ing **** exposing all the dirty laundry in his locker room. what comes around goes around Joe
