  1. So far so good, hopefully they can get a better OF than McDonald or maybe make a run at Cespedes. Still want to see them sign Oswalt of course to round things out.
  2. Sickels List: -Think Middlebrooks should be at the top as he is performing well at high levels and has great tools all around, I think he's the blue chipper at the moment in the system -Cecchini and Jacobs positioned correctly in the 5 and 6 spots, with the potential to be the next big things in the system if all goes well in this coming year. -Ranuado too low, he should be in the 5-7 range and I think he's another candidate to move to the top with a turn around year. -Head is too low, I like him better than prospects like Stolmy, Doubront, (Weiland). BPN Rankings -Cecchini too high, like him as a prospect a lot but he needs to prove a lot more considering he has only had 100+ AB in SS Low-A. -Not real high on Iglesias till he starts hitting even decently at the high levels. Till then I think he belongs in the 10-15 range with the potential to move way up.
  3. Ideal offseason plan: -Sign Oswalt -Trade Reddick+ for CL Bailey -Pick up decent RH OF to platoon with Kalish -Move Bard to rotation 1. Ellsbury CF 2. Pedroia 2B 3. Gonzales 1B 4. Youl 3B 5. Ortiz DH 6. Crawford LF 7. Salty C 8. Kalish RF 9. Scutaro 1. Lester 2. Beckett 3. Buchholz 4. Oswalt 5. Bard Bench C Shoppach IF Punto OF Free Agent IF Aviles OF McDonald Bullpen CL Bailey SU Melancon SU Jenks MR Albers MR Aceves MR Miller/Morales/Bowden
  4. I don't think I'd even trade Kalish or Reddick straight up for him. He's never gotten over an .800 OPS in his 6 seasons and he'd be playing a corner OF role. And even if he did it would be with a terrible BA and OBP with a ton of strikeouts. Pass.
  5. Decent 4.17 and 3.77 ERAs over the past two years, probably worth 4.5 mil a year
  6. not to mention Ellsbury was a top 3 player in baseball last year...
  7. Worst SP with a certain number of min innings pitched. He's definitely not the absolute worst pitcher to take the mound in 2011. Most teams wouldn't let a pitcher that bad pitch that many innings but given his massive contract and the fact that he wasn't injured, we didn't really have much of a choice.
  8. Heartbreaking
  9. late to this party but, hell yes /thread
  10. because he was absolutely horrendous as a starter in the minors and immediately dominated upon switching to relief
  11. We don't know this yet. Really only Buchholz, Papelbon, Bard out of that group were can't miss prospects. There were certainly questions about Youk, Pedroia, Lester, Lowrie, and Ellsbury
  12. Thats because once the 2005+2006 draft core started to reach the big leagues the team shifted its approach to more HS picks with its top picks. Thus there is a gap, but HSers like Kalish, Reddick (junior college), Anderson, Middlebrooks are starting to approach the majors when college guys would have been ready during that 08-10 gap.
  13. And the two categories hes not are almost never associated with leadoff hitters, the fact that he has 19 HR and 72 RBI is pretty rare
  14. Sure Gonzalez plays at a less important defensive position, but he plays it at an elite level. Granderson plays an important defensive position poorly
  15. The 10-2 record is probably about as fluky as the 2-11 start, these things tend to normalize
  16. I was looking through my old posts, and this one was interesting as it has now been 5 years
  17. why are they rushing Banuelos so much, he's only 20 and while the results have been decent he's still giving up a ton of walks and hits to AA batters
  18. wait now its Lin and not Chiang?
  19. Is Trayvon even coming here? I think he's going to Seattle...
