  1. I like Garza but I wouldn't trade WMB for him
  2. always liked Harden, I'd be stoked if we got him for Anderson or any other non-major prospect
  3. Gotta be Gonzalez. Ya Pedroia had a role in the first couple wins but he was really a mediocre hitter for the first two months. Gonzalez has been the one consistent hitter all year who was really the first hitter to turn it around and get the team going. I love Ellsbury though, I'm not sure he's this good, but he has superstar numbers this year with the defense/power/speed/average combo
  4. Romine hasn't ever posted a .800 OPS at any level ever, Lavarnway has consistently been above an .870 OPS at every level since his first full season. I'll give the defense, but until Romine posts a decent OPS I'm not convinced he's anymore than an average hitter
  5. Guys a legit top 25 prospect no doubt though those numbers are certainly inflated by a heavy hitters league. I really wish Anderson would develop the power we've been waiting for because he really is a very fundamentally sound hitter at the plate
  6. Obviously both have failed up to this point, but 'a lot of money'? Wheeler is on a 1yr contract at 3 mil and Jenks is 2/12. Im not ready to write either off after less than a quarter of the season
  7. PM me if you won and want the link that will allow you to bypass the VWR once they go on sale
  8. I agree with Jacko that he's probably just a 4th OF or late inning replacement next year But in the future I like his potential. He was only 21 in AA last year and has great defense and very developed plate discipline (72 walks to 63 Ks). It's really going to depend on how the power develops since right now it is very pedestrian. But we'll see, I think it could develop if he puts on some weight and ages a little bit.
  9. lol wow someones been sipping Yankee kool-aid. Banuelos, Betances, Sanchez all top 20 prospects? Most places have those guys in the 30-50 range, extremely generous placement especially with none of them proven above A+ and Sanchez not even proven past GCL...
  10. It was pretty justified last year. Where was Betances, Brackman, Sanchez, Nova last year? No way you bet on any of those guys having the years they did in 2010 and justify that potential to be above already established farm systems. The Red Sox have a good amount of players with similar potential as those guys but I'm not about to put the Red Sox in the top 10 farm systems before they've broken out.
  11. you said the Red Sox ratings are "going down, way down"?
  12. Just anecdotal experience, last year I had two patriots post season tickets I was looking to sell and barely got face value for them. On the other hand I've never had a problem selling Red Sox tickets to pretty much any game.
  13. same story as always with the Rays, sucked for 11 years and got top draft picks all during that time for a 2-3 year run at the end of this decade. We'll see what they can do with this new crop but their lineup will not be competing for a WS anytime soon without some major acquisitions or immediate prospect development.
  14. I'd personally like to thank the liverpool soccer team for helping fund the recent Red Sox acquisitions
  15. TB doesn't really own it, they just lost basically their entire dominant bullpen and superstar LF to the free agent market. BOS on the other hand owns it, they were able to sign Crawford, Jenks, and Wheeler while losing Beltre/Martinez and gained multiple 1st rounders/1st supp/and 2nd round picks from it.
  16. So the A's go from probably a massive 5 year deal for Beltre to looking at one year contracts for fringe MRs? I can't even imagine what the reaction would be if a story like that was run in Boston.
  17. Remind me when signing Cliff Lee was a realistic option? Say Theo lets Beckett hit the FA market this year. Cliff Lee ends up spurning the Yankees' much higher offer (and probably ours too) and then Beckett probably ditches us and signs on the with Yankees. It was the right move re-upping Beckett and not taking the risk of trying to sign Lee (now with hindsight it appears it wouldn't even be possible) So far it's Lee 1 Beckett 0, but Beckett is a couple years younger and makes a substantially lower amount. Lets see in a couple years what the scoreboard looks like, frankly I believe it'll be pretty damn close.
  18. Probably closer to those numbers. He was never really a low-3 ERA pitcher in the AL even in his prime. I'd be skeptical of counting on him for an entire year following the injury and at 39 years old.
  19. haha I've also thought she looks like a caveman in the avatar since the picture is so small
  20. Love the Jenks signing. BABIP was .354 last year, I bet that comes down and he's a low-to-mid 3's MR. Also has better peripherals than even Bard.
  21. How is it a lefty dominated league? A player will face a LH maybe 25% of the time? So 75% of the time this lineup will absolutely annihilate pitchers and the other 25% it will be well above average. No problem here
