I don't think the Red Sox will pursue clemens. The sox have 7 starters already and Clemens is either going to retire, sign with the Rangers, or wait to May 1st and resign with the Astros.
he better improve his obp quick or this deal will not work out.....a leadoff hitter needs to have better than a .332 career obp.....hopefully coming to fenway will improve his offense.
say the Guardians are out of the race come next august and september. what if mota comes down with a suspicious injury late in the year when their season is already over. i think if he is hurt and the Guardians are already out of the playoffs that nothing should go to them. they could easily make up a fake injury late in the year in order to receive another player from the red sox.
i dont think theo or the red sox front office would have went up to 48 million. they may have moved off the 40 million to maybe 44 million. i just don't think the redsox were willing to go that high with because they did not value him as a 50 million dollar player.
trent is a very long shot to make the red sox. he makes it only if the sox have injuries. if the sox are healthy he has little to no chance of making it. i wish him luck but his odds are long.
I'd rather hand the SS job to Pedroia over bringing in Alex Gonzalez. I don't like gonzalez. I think he sucks as a ballplayer. He can't hit. He is not much of an upgrade from Cora.
not for the money it isn't cora is solid defensively and will be at least 3 million dollars cheaper. that money can go to other things instead of alex gonzalez. i would rather use the money not spent on alex gonzalez and invest it on signing high impact players that fall in the draft.
i hope we get crisp and dont get gonzalez. gonzalez just because he hit over 20 homers once means nothing. he has career .291 obp compared to cora who has a .310 career obp. gonzalez is by far not the superior hitter. he may be good in the field but for the money he is asking for I will pass because its not worth the commitment.
for the money it will require to get him the red sox would be better starting cora instead. right now i have heard gonzalez wants 2 yrs 10 million....i'm sorry but for that money i am going to pass.
he an ok player. hes not even as talented marte. he is what he is. he can get on base but to me is a solid average ballplayer. he will never make an allstar. if he gives the sox more production than millar this year then he will be useful.
mota did not fail the physical.....cleveland has concerns over his elbow.....and they were never going to trade mota to the phillies. it was arthur rhodes going to the phillies for michaels.
