  1. coming to fenway he shouldn't be as bad as last season. if papa jackson can work with him he might improve a bit as a hitter.
  2. he says uconn is the best team in the country but he also said he would take duke
  3. santana is a pretty good pitcher. figgins is a very solid player who can play anywhere. brandon wood hit 50 homers last season. and howie kenrick batted .330.....if the angels were to do this deal the red sox would not hesitate....they would accept immediately...its called flexibility and the best package the red sox could even get in return.
  4. anyone else sick of dickie V ballwashing Duke and JJ reddick
  5. duke survives three games in a row and still picks up first place votes from the second spot. they should be losing votes.
  6. just turned it on....looks like another great duke-unc game
  7. would anyone be shocked to see him put up 35-40 doubles while playing half his games in fenway. i know i wouldn't considering he has had 4 seasons of 30 plus doubles playing in a pitchers park. coming to fenway should only make him look better as a hitter.
  8. i heard it front and center when i was at the bell center saturday. trust me habs fans are the most annoying.
  9. you have cano pinned for the hall of fame already and he hasn't been in the bigs for a season. all im doing is giving my evaluation of some of our prospects i have seen and to me some of them are impressive.
  10. i would not make that deal at all.....the red sox don't have to trade manny.....they only will trade manny if it benefits their future. erstad is a stiff now.
  11. i never seen a bigger ballwasher such as yourself.......i can't wait til cano comes back to earth because frankly i don' think that he is that good.
  12. no we can't.....if the red sox would be able to get ervin santana, figgins, brandon wood, and howie kenrick for manny.....manny would have been gone already.
  13. he is over .700 for his career and he is not a homerun hitter so his ops won't be as high as some but his career BA is .301 and i will take all the doubles that he brings.
  14. i would not be shocked to see a sophmore slump from cano. his ops is hardly impressive in the majors and it flat out sucked in the minors.
  15. there are a handful of second baseman i would take over cano any day of the week.
  16. he may have heart but i want alot more than just heart on the field. i want alot more talent when i want someone to play one of the most important positions on the field. eckstein has been serviceable. he really should play second base instead.
  17. and lets not hype up cano as a future star when he is far from it. until he gets onbase at a better clip he won't be a star.
  18. eckstein is an overachiever. to me hes not an allstar even though he played in the allstar game. he was only there because the st. louis fans voted him on. otherwise he does not make it. pedroia would have easily been called up last season when khorn was sucking wind and would have replaced him had he not gotten hit on the wrist with a pitch in pawtucket. before you comment on pedroia make sure you see him play a game first.
  19. he doesn't even compare to eckstein....from what i have seen of him he is a better fielder with a much stronger arm and has alot more plate discipline
  20. still about 2 seasons away but showed tons of promise last yr in lowell. great speed. gets on-base. needs to develop more power.
  21. hes not a free agent until 2007 so there is no rush.
  22. if molina is signing with toronto he is starting not backing up zaun who until recently was a career backup. zaun will be forced to the bench with molina signing with the jays.
  23. alittle bit of bill simmons on the super bowl 10:16 -- In the postgame show, after we hear from an emotional Cowher and MVP Hines Ward (hey, somebody had to win), Mike Tirico interviews Jerome Bettis (14 carries, 43 yards), who holds the trophy and stumbles through an endearing speech, finally announcing his retirement by saying, "I played this game to win a championship, I'm a champion, and I think the Bus, the last stop is here in Detroit." If this were the WWE, the crowd would have cheered, Bettis would have held the trophy over his head, and then the Patriots' music would have started playing, followed by Belichick and Brady emerging to a chorus of boos, taunting Bettis with stuff like, "What's the matter, gettin' out while you can?" and "You're not the real champs until you go through us!" And then there would have been a huge fake brawl, followed by Bettis returning the following week for a tag-team match with Cowher as his partner. In real life? Bettis walks off into the sunset with the trophy ... a nice lasting image for a crummy game. At least the Steelers covered. Until next season.
  24. id rather have a 97 mph fastball and a dominating slider closing out games than an 17 yr shortstop who may or may not even reach the big leagues.
