  1. the winter games for the US are definitely not dominated like the summer games.
  2. i saw it on cnbc today. ill agree 100% with you on that.
  3. he was making 950,000 in 2002 with the twins and his arbitration number would have been over a million dollars something the twins were not interested in paying. their loss is our gain.
  4. villanova will most likely get 2 home games in the NCAA tournament at home as the first round is in the Wachovia Center in Philly.
  5. don't forget ******** technical fouls too in the florida state game
  6. curling anyone?
  7. i don't think duke can get physical with a team from the big east. duke is a finese team if a great Defensive team plays them will shut them down. i think teams like villanova and uconn would clearly give duke significant problems.
  8. The ACC will get 4 teams into the tourney and for them that is a down year. they usually should get 5-6 teams in. the big east is clearly the superior conference with at least 3 teams with legitimate chances at the final four.
  9. i still hate duke. they may be #1 in the polls but that doesn't mean they are the best team. they have had 3 games this year where they have just escaped losses to virginia tech(AT HOME), BC, and Florida State.
  10. the ACC is very weak this season and i will be shocked if they do not go undefeated.
  11. ortiz was waived over money but i see your point....it just not often that players like bay get traded 3 times.
  12. they are both good but i would go with the experience in brodeur. the US will have a difficult time even medaling in these olympics.
  13. duke will probably coast the rest of the season as the top team in country with the cupcake schedule they have.
  14. Do people even realize that Jason Bay has been traded by 3 different teams already. The expos, mets and padres all traded him. June 5, 2000: Drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 22nd round of the 2000 amateur draft. March 24, 2002: Traded by the Montreal Expos with Jimmy Serrano to the New York Mets for Lou Collier. July 31, 2002: Traded by the New York Mets with Josh Reynolds (minors) and Bobby Jones to the San Diego Padres for Steve Reed and Jason Middlebrook. August 26, 2003: Traded by the San Diego Padres with a player to be named later and Oliver Perez to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Brian Giles. The San Diego Padres sent Corey Stewart (minors) (October 2, 2003) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade.
  15. its not pretty being a royals fan and the future is not brighter either. well at least they have the top overall pick and most likely will draft Andrew Miller the lefty out of UNC.
  16. i say in the 70''s prolly like 72. they have improved defense which will improve the pitching. their young hitters are some of the best prospects in the game and i expect them to flourish with playing time. the dbacks have much better pitching than the royals and its not even close. they might not have an ace but they have some pretty solid pitchers and if ortiz pitches like the pitcher he once was then look for them to win in the mid 70's.
  17. great game on big monday tonight as Uconn takes on Villanova
  18. so what if they did not break the bank.....does those signings show anything to their fans....to me it doesn't.....they signed some second rate free agents.....there franchise is a joke and will be a joke until they start wasting money on players that won't even be part of there future. here is what arizona brought in for 2006 johnny estrada orlando hudson eric byrnes jeff davanon hudson will immediately improve the dbacks defense for pitcher like webb and russ ortiz if he can ever get it put together again. arizona will not be fighting with the royals for the bottom spot and i will be shocked if they do. teams like cincy and colorado are more likely to be fighting the royals for the last spot.
  19. ya the royals signed free agents but they are wasting money signing those guys when its going to get them nowhere.....they should be investing the money they spent in free agency in their farm system and the draft as well the international market. i would take the dbacks youth anyday of the week over what the royals did which to me was unimpressive.
  20. carlos quentin can make it to the majors this year and dont forget about conor jackson as well. i also would not be shocked to see stephen drew in july. they have alot of talent. also they got chris young from the white sox even though he hurt himself recently. i think they will be a hell of alot better than the royals who have absolutely no hope at all.
  21. the dbacks will be better than most people think......they have a alot of good young talent that is going carry that franchise for a long time.
  22. i'm suprised it took dick williams this long to get into the sox hall of fame.
  23. well for like a second BA had soto as the best power potential before putting marte. so now i would assume it is soto because he is a younger and has more upside
  24. even though he is back with the sox there is still a good chance he is traded before the start of the season.
  25. Carl Pavano visited a California back specialist last week after feeling lower back stiffness during a throwing session. Pavano felt twinges after throwing on flat ground about two weeks ago at the Yankees' minor league complex. He received a clean bill of health from the specialist, but this is just another reason not to be especially optimistic about his chances for this season. The Yankees believe Pavano's shoulder troubles last year were a result of him hurting his back in spring training and changing his motion to compensate. -new york daily news
