  1. you can never have enough pitching
  2. i said defensive not offensive....the red sox are a superior defensively than the yankees on the left side.
  3. the yankees could have helped themselves last yr when they could have taken craig hansen but instead took cj henry.
  4. he looks pretty done. no one has signed him
  5. having a successful single A is meaningless and does not mean the big club will be successful in the future.
  6. myers is a 1 batter pitcher and the redsox have 2 lefties who would even hit myers and they don't even hit close to each other in the batting order.
  7. nixon doesn't hit lefties anyways and ortiz can hit any pitching....i don't think ortiz will be scared of myers....he doesn't overpower anyone.
  8. spared what farm and the yanks payroll was going to drop by alot anyways with bernie's 15 mil and kevin browns 16 mil off the books.
  9. dinardo even if he is better at getting righties out....you don't really need a lefty to win. the angels have never had one and i don't believe the marlins had one either. all you need is pitchers that get hitters out. who cares what side they pitch from.
  10. welcome.....really cool avatar.
  11. what does everyone think it will take to resign givens....i was hoping maybe a 5 yr 15-16 million dollar deal with maybe a 3-3.5 million signing bonus.
  12. i think i can change it if i want....i prolly will change it from week to week.
  13. wooo hold on on matsui....he is average to below average in the outfield and misplays alot of balls. sheffield is alittle older and won't be able to cover amount of making damon run all over the place because of those two. just because jeter won some gold gloves doesn't make him an A+. hes good but he never should have won any gold gloves. ill give you arod. i will still take the red sox left side of the infield over anyones in the game for defensive purposes. that said if giambi is playing first then the yanks right side will be downright bad. cano is average to below average and makes alot of easy errors. if the yanks have any flaw its their defense which could affect pitchers such as wang and pavano both groundball pitchers. on a whole i think the red sox defense is superior to that of the yankees.
  14. this is from another red sox board i am on I understand that the Renteria payment this year is $3mm, and the AAV for the $11mm payment (not $8mm) is $3.67mm. I will update the numbers below. The roster would look like this: Lineup: Crisp, Loretta, Ortiz, Manny, Nixon, Lowell, Varitek, Youkilis, A-Gon Bench: Flaherty, Stern (for 18 days)/RHH backup CF, Snow, Cora Rotation: Schilling, Beckett, Wells, Clement, Wakefield, Bullpen: Foulke, Papelbon, Timlin, Riske, Seanez, Arroyo, Tavarez Let's assume a budget of $126.5 million to spend, AAV-wise, on the 25 man roster. This keeps the team below the luxury tax threshold. Let's also assume that the Red Sox pays $3.67mm to Atlanta in the Renteria deal. The 2006 AAV or AAV estimates for the top 25 players plus the cash payment is $128.15 million, as follows: Manny (20), Schilling (12.75), Varitek (10), Wells (9), Clement (8.5), Lowell (8), Nixon (6.5), Ortiz (6.25), Foulke (6), Beckett (4.33), Wakefield (4), Arroyo/Loretta (3.75 ea.), Timlin (3.5), Tavarez (3.35), Gonzalez (3), Crisp (2.75), Seanez (2.1), Snow (2), Riske (1.8), Cora (1.35), Flaherty (0.75), Youkilis/Papelbon/Stern (0.35 ea.) This is approx. $1.65 million over the budgeted cap I laid out above.
  15. i still would have played a 1 game playoff to break the tie.
  16. it would have mattered had the Guardians not faded and we all ended up tied. since both the red sox and yanks were tied and both going to the playoffs it didn't matter for a 1 game playoff. since the yanks won the head the head they were called division champs even though both teams were really tied.
  17. its bigger than the garden....their fans get real loud....very passionate....it seats over 21,000 and its always sold out. when you walk in to the bell centre you are at the top of the lower bowl unlike at the garden where you have to walk up to the lower bowl. the bell centre is kind of built into the ground. i wasn't impressed with their proshop at all. the bruins one is much bigger and carries more than just bruins and celtics stuff. the habs one just sells only canadians stuff. overall it was a good time other than the loss and i will definitely be going back yearly to see the bruins play up there.
  18. pitching and defense wins championships.....the red sox have both.
  19. i look at the record not the head to head....and to me it was a tie....i would have played a 1 game playoff to settle the damn thing.
  20. i wasn't too high on him either.
  21. for winning the super bowl grid contest.
  22. hows chemistry been the last 5 seasons......0 WS titles
  23. should have had Jurevicius in 2002 but instead the pats signed donald hayes instead. it was one or the other and unfortunately the pats signed a rare bust.
  24. how many time can i change my title?
  25. real good move by the jays....gives them a real catcher instead of the journeyman zaun. molina is a great receiver and also has a good bat.
