Big kudos to Cora for leaving in Eovaldi in when he was mowing down the opposition. When Nate is dealing, you have to ride with him. I can remember seeing Eovaldi dealing like this when he was with the Yankees and Girardi would always take him out before he could face the order a 3rd time, even if he was at 70 or 80 pitches. It almost always ended badly for the Yankees. The knee-jerk automatic lifting of pitchers before they can face the order a third time is an example of stupid herd mentality based on “metrics” that has solidified my low opinion of managers. Cora did the right thing tonight and rode his best horse who was having a great night.
