  1. Keeping Peavy in the rotation is a dumb move.
  2. ^ This sums it up perfectly. If they would be on the level that they didn't think a player was worth the investment, people would still disagree, but at least that would be genuine. This phoney baloney cry of poverty is completely disingenuous.
  3. They were joking last night that the Sox have the All-Rosenthal team because we have a lot of players under 6 feet tall. I notice this spring that we have a lot of little guys. Do they try to get kid's airfares for them? LOL!
  4. Wake at the end was torturous to watch. He couldn't get anyone out and he could no longer field his position.
  5. He didn't look that small to me, maybe because he is very slender he gives a taller appearance.
  6. You are more trusting than me. I think that they are considering trading him and they are probably dangling him out there like red meat, but in the end, I don't think that they can net enough of a return for less than half a season of Lester to be worth the negative impact on the 2014 team and the sour taste for the fans.
  7. Arrieta has been very hot lately, and Peavy looks like a washed up pitcher. If we get into their pen by the 7th inning we will win the game. I think Pedey has turned the corner and Betts will inject some life into the offense. I am looking forward to some renewed energy on the field.
  8. I believe almost none of what I read anymore. The press is a tool. Whenever I read an article, I ask myself who benefits from this article and then I try to reconcile the information in the article with behavior. Why would the Sox reopen negotiations with Lester with 1 month to go before the trading deadline? Moreover, how and why did this information get into the press? The Red Sox are notoriously tight-lipped about these matters and there is no indication that Lester went to the press. I have to conclude that the Red Sox wanted this story out there. Why? We will find out, but I think they are considering trading him and this story gives them cover to say that they made every effort to sign him. If he gets traded, I am not going to buy any of the propaganda from the FO suits. The pattern has been for teams to keep their star pitchers. Many of those teams have a lot less resources than the Red Sox. Hey Red Sox FO. I am on to you. LOL!
  9. The Cubs are well entrenched in last place again on a pace to lose 93 games. I guess that Theo's 3-5 year plan is now just a 5 year plan, if he lasts that long.
  10. Will Theo go to his old office by mistake when the Cubs arrive?
  11. Arrieta vs. Peavy Game Time 7:10
  12. The Sox won, scored 8 runs, won the weekend series against the Yankees, Pedroia has 6 hits over the last two games and mojo is intact!
  13. What? LOL!
  14. Drew with a hit and a RBI. Has the world stopped spinning?
  15. I'm pretty sure that I have answered this a few times. In the short run, Holt or Betts or anyone who can carry a bat to the plate can play CF until Victorino comes back to patrol CF.
  16. I agree that Girardi should have interceded, but a smart pitcher doesn't let a stupid manager make him pitch stupid. I think Tanaka had handled Napoli up to that point and his ego blinded him to the danger.
  17. Lackey vs. Whitley Game time: 8:05 pm This matchup favors the Red Sox, but the first two games didn't go to the team with the better starting pitcher. Let's win this series.
  18. Like with Middlebrooks, Bradley needs to learn his craft better in the minors.
  19. I think you are under rating Victorino. I watched a lot of him with Philly. He is a great CFer. He plays shallow and he can go get the ball with the best that I have seen when he is healthy. Ortiz is still producing power numbers. His lower average may be due to the proliferation of the shift, or maybe he is seeing a better quality of pitches because the rest of the lineup is so easy to work through. When there is no one in the lineup to hurt a pitcher, the one or 2 good hitters will not perform as well as they would in a productive lineup. The old saying is that hitting is contagious. Ortiz has not been the problem. Without him, we would be a dead last place team. As for Pedroia, his performance has hurt the lineup, but he is clearly going through some sort of adjustment. He is a great hitter, and hewill figure it out and go on a tear. I can't be anymore clear about bradley's situation. I'd rather put a guy out there without a glove if he can hit until victorino comes back.
  20. Holt and Betts would be stop gaps in CF until Victorino returns. Holt has surprised me time and again in the OF. Bradley has played his way back to the minors. It's as simple as that. What is a joke is comparing Victorino to Bradley. Bradley will have to stop sucking before he can be compared to victorino. When healthy, Victorino is probably still our best OFer.
  21. I heard that Betts will be in the lineup tomorrow. Against a RHP tomorrow I would think that Holt and Nava will be in the lineup, so either Betts or Holt will be in CF. I can live with that until Victorino (a real CFer) comes back. Bradley can be a defensive replacement until Victorino returns at which time he gets a bus ticket to Pawtucket.
  22. Bradley would be perfect in AAA right now.
  23. Yet, he decided to pitch to Napoli (one of our 2 HR hitters) with the .130 hitting Drew on deck. Not too smart.
  24. Hey, I guess I had some good mojo. I was getting very frustrated during the game which is why I wasn't posting. Drew was completely helpless at bat and in the field. He practically lost the game on Lester all by himself. Pedey looked focused and the laser show may be starting. Bradley still sucks balls and needs to grab some bench. If Mookie isn't in tomorrow's lineup, I will drive to Yankee Stadium and kick Farrell in the balls. I was nervous in the 8th after the leadoff walk to Gardner, but I had a feeling that Jeter would hit into a DP. After the K to end the 8th, I left the room while the idiot Girardi was trying to steal a run on an inning ending strike out while the players were walking off the field. What a douche. I grabbed a beer and cleaned up some of the mess that I had made during the day. When I returned to the TV, I saw Drew going down meekly again. I said to my son. That was quick was it a 1-2-3 inning? He was laughing. He told me that those idiots actually pitched to Napoli with 2 outs and the hapless (1 RBI) Drew on deck. That gave us a big laugh. That is a big pet peeve of mine when pitchers let themselves get hurt by the only guy in the lineup who can hurt them. LOL!! This was the perfect example. If I was jacko, I'd be steamed too. I noted to my son on the replay how Ortiz was laughing in the dugout. I said they can't believe that the Yankees pitched to napoli. The "idiot" remark by Napoli explains that situation. LOL!! What an idiot indeed!
  25. Ol'man River, David Ross goes deep!
