    Victorino is back and Betts was optioned to AAA. They won't give up on Bradley figuring it out.

    Three holes makes it tough to maintain consistent production. Maybe you can play .500 ball, but at this point that will not get it done. In order to get back into the race, this team needs to go on a run. They need another bat to do that. We just finished a home stand against the worst teams in baseball and we got our clocks cleaned with our current crew. I think we have to be realistic about their potential.

    The Sox originally drafted him, but it was in later RDS and he opted for Vanderbilt.

    Bradley becomes a defensive replacement. He is a zero in the lineup. He is an excellent fielder, but let's not start mixing him up with Paul Blair, who was also a pretty good hitter until he got beaned.

    They will at times score some runs. Consistency will be the problem. It's hard to be consistent with three major holes. People are dreaming if they think Bradley is going to find something and be productive. He is a swing and miss guy without bat speed or power. Salty was the same type of guy, but he was big and strong and could knock the ball out of the park. Among Drew, catcher and XB, we will be lucky if we get production from 1 of those slots, so we really have 4 holes. If he doesn't add a bat soon they will flounder and it will be over. Adding a hitter may not work, but it is this teams only chance. This group will continue to fight for last place.

    The AA Bowie Baysox in the Oriole system were victims of a 1 hit complete game shutout. The only hit was a double by Mike Yastrzemski in only his second game at AA.

    I can't see them getting close unless they get another hitter. I can see them making a push if they get a hitter, but not if they tread water for another 10 games or so before getting one.

    Good move in PHing Homes for Bradley, but I can't understand why he didn't go to the bench for Carp in the 9th against the Right with second and third and one out in the 9th. Comes was helpless. He is strictly a platoon hitter. With 2 out, I thought that Holt had an extra basehit. He puts up good ABs almost every time up. In Yankee Stadium that ball is a HR.

    So, you no longer think they need another hitter. Ellsnury has been replaced by an automatic out with Bradley. I am not seeing much potential with him. It' s hard to produce consistent offense when a lineup has at least 3 holes. Catcher, SS and CF are killing us. Even if the other 6 spots start performing to career norms, these 3 will keep the offense in neutral.

    It looks like Buchholz's big turnaround game was more a function of the opponent being the Astros.

    This lineup isn't going to sneak up on anybody. There isn't a lot of potential there. There is a lot of hope. Without a miracle, this group goes nowhere. They need Victorino in the lineup and another hitter.

    Bradley doing what he does best -- getting overpowered by a major league pitcher.

    I'd like to see Betts stick after Victorino returns. He adds a spark and he has the element of speed too. It may be time for Gomes to go.

    We are still putting out a horseshit lineup. If Benny who pisses excellence isn't giving up on the season, he needs to get another bat very fast or the season will be unredeemable. IMO, he gave up on the season other than a miracle happening. If he hasn't written off the season, he'd be doing something to improve the team. He has been a pretty straight shooter, so hopefully he is working on something.

    And maybe with Pedro they win back to back titles in 2005. Our game 1 starter in the playoffs in 2005 was embarrassingly , Matt Clement. He wet his pants on the mound.

    Getting on base half the time is good enough for me even if they are HBPs.

    Victorino was 2 for 4 for the PawSox tonight. Hopefully, he is back with the big club over the weekend.

    The grandkid went 4 for 5 with a triple in his first game at AA.

    Great post. Brandon Wood was a huge power hitter in the minors, but couldn't make enough contact in the majors.
