  1. Hopefully Bogaerts will achieve stardom, but sometimes big time prospects turn out like Andy Marte.
  2. I don't think a RH bat would be too costly. Some team will make a move for such a bat and it will not cost that much. As for the magic being gone, losing becomes a cancer, but that can be reversed. A few nice wins and well played games can get the juices flowing again.
  3. The outlook is definitely bleak at this point, but I am not ready for the FO to hoist the whote flag. It's only July 2nd. This much can be reasonably concluded. The current roster does not have the offensive potency to turn things around even if Drew starts hitting up to his capability. Victorino will hopefully come back healthy to give us a shot in the arm. It will also get some dead wood out of the lineup. They should be able to pick up a serviceable RH bat without mortgaging the future. Don't ask me to name names. That's not my job. It can be done. Add 2 productive bats (Victorino and a new guy) to our order and we start winning a lot of these one run games. Couple the 2 new bats with Pedroia coming out of his funk and Drew hittin at least 100 points more and the offense can turn things around. I can't believe that the same team as last season minus Ellsbury is a 90 plus loss team. I just can't get to that conclusion. If they blow things up now, IMO they lose more games than the 2012 squad. That would be very painful, and essentially we would be without meaningful baseball for 9 months. That will seem like an eternity
  4. yep. We need Victorino back in addition to a new bat. Bradley could then be sent to the minors and bogaerts could go back to SS with Holt moving to 3rd.
  5. there is another choice. They could get a bat and try to get over .500 and compete for a Wild Card.
  6. It is only July 1st. Do you know how long the hot stove season will seem if it starts now? It will seem like a prison sentence.
  7. 1 run in 2 games against the Cubs? Time to get a bat or have a sale. There is just not enough firepower on this roster to change course.
  8. I can't believe that we are going to lose a home series to this stinking pile from Chicago.
  9. Are we going to delude ourselves into believing that Edwin Jackson's career has turned a corner?
  10. that doesn't mean that he is not getting worked around. They work around him in big spots. There are much fewer of those this season. In past seasons, there were more opportunities. Now, he is getting challenged in spots that are meaningless.
  11. Nah, teams are not pitching around Ortiz. Not at all.
  12. I blame SFF. He was always building him up last season.
  13. And Red Sox Nation will gleefully laugh and mock at your Yankee stupidity 5 years down the road after crying for 4 years as that pitcher owns us . Haha! The joke is on you. I love torture followed by delayed gratification!
  14. Heck, I'll criticize the manager when things are going well. That's what he is there for. Managers are hired to be fired as they say. In the meantime they get criticized. I don' t feel sorry for them as they are a bunch of half wits that get paid very handsomely to make out a lineup card. Ah duh this is hard, where should I bat Ortiz and his 19 homers? Should I bat the .125 hitter after him? Should I take my starter out after 7 runs? What inning does the closer come in? THis is hard.
  15. That is the term that I would apply to ignoring your chief rival and competition.
  16. You lost me after the first sentence. The Yankees got 4 stud years out of C.C. with a 7-2 post season record and a World Champioship. I find no solace that the end of his contract is marred by underperformance. It doesn't erase what he did for the Skanks. Similarly, it upsets me to watch Ellsbury playing for the Yankees in his prime. I expect it will upset me to see Lester still in his prime pitching with the Yankees.
  17. True. That site is no longer user-friendly. It used to have a lot of useful info. I think they tried to get people to pay for it, and people didnkt sign up.
  18. Thanks Pete. I saw that and there were stats with the lineup too. That was a nice addition. The VA lineup thing is a mojo thing. I saw her online last night. That is why I asked the question. It is unlike her to be online and not post in a GT.
  19. BTR runs for the hills when the team is going bad.
  20. Ridiculous. Can't harp on Peavy for this game. There is nothing wrong with 6 innings and 2 runs.
  21. Hey YOTN, would I be misusing the term "ironic" with relation to Drew breaking up the no-no?
  22. It's not free. I herd that he cries every time he cashes a Red Sox check.
  23. His career ERA over 5 seasons in almost 5. He stinks.
  24. Because he is a gritty gamer who yells at himself on the mound. He is that competitive.
  25. Sweeney doing what he does best-- giving up bombs.
