  1. He's a good compiler of stats. He's not a good clubhouse guy from what I could see and he lacked leadership qualities from what I heard and read. He's a guy that I was not sorry to see leave, especially after the drop off in his Home Run prodction in the second half of 2011.
  2. He doesn't suck. He is a very good compiler of stats. But I am glad that AGon is gone.
  3. While I do think that the team's player development and scouting operations deserve close scrutiny, I don't agree that the only way to rebuild a team is to tear it all down first. I agree with Ben that there are a lot of ways to rebuild a team.
  4. We are better off without him. The guy is a loser. To paraphrase him, it was all part of God's plan that we sent him back to the west coast.
  5. Maybe Manny Trillo. He did have a 17 year career.
  6. I do want immediate results, but not from the prospects. I understand that they take time to reach their potential. They have to be worked into a lineup with supporting veteran players to carry the load while the kids develop. This past season too many young players were thrown into a sink or swim situation with not enough solid veteran help and they all sank. An organization needs to mix these guys in as they are ready, but not like we are the Montreal Expos fielding 8 rookies. Some guys will have to wait their turn or be traded. I have been a Red Sox fan for 48 years. Patience is not a shortcoming of mine.
  7. Manny? Which Manny?
  8. This is a bit of an overstatement.
  9. He's a great compiler of stats and he really thrives on lousy teams. As far as putting a team on his back like Big Papi when it matters most, AGon is not that guy.
  10. I like your analogy to nutrition, but I don't think that we have to stink while getting the player development and scouting operations healthy. I think they need to bite the bullet and clear out the people in those operations.
  11. All those guys are cheap, and they are all either not very good or they stink. I hold out a lot of hope for Betts.
  12. I don't think they are very far from being competitive. That doesn't preclude me from also agreeing with Doji's criticism of the scouting and player development and I think they need to bring in new blood in those areas. Despite that, I think the team can be rebuilt to be competitive in 2015 with trades and acquisitions, but I am not very confident that they will do what needs to be done.
  13. I am surprised that they signed him for 2 seasons at age 40.
  14. yes, I replied your facetious statement with sarcasm. I didn't think we were arguing about an issue. We are a last place team and the whole organization except for David Ortiz s*** all over themselves. They have a lot of work to do.
  15. Memo to the Red Sox front office. Everyone can take vacation for the next 5 years since we won the CHampionship last year.
  16. I can't disagree with this indictment of the organization. After watching Bradley and Middlebrooks bomb and XB underwhelm us, I think the problem is not limited to pitching. They need to take a good hard look at their scouting and talent development operations.
  17. Dumber managers than Maddon have won World Championships. Farrell would be in that category. I don't care what happens to Maddon. I am just glad that I will not have to look at his stupid smug puss anymore. As for Theo's job rebuilding the Cubs, this is his 4th season at the helm. He has stockpiled a ton of major league ready prospects and he has a fat wallet. He will be out of excuses if the Cubbies are not competitive this season, especially in light of consecutive last place finishes and the year they didn't finish last under Theo, they lost 100 games.
  18. Not one of the pitches that Perez swung at were in the zone.
  19. i think that you are engaging in some very wishful thinking. I am not saying that the Yanks will sign Lester, but if they really want him, they will get him.
  20. Kalish was once a part of our outfield future. Prospects are always a crap shoot. Cost control of a crapshoot doesn't excite me. Getting Stanton would excite me.
  21. I am not getting the relevance of the JD Drew comparison. Stanton is an absolute beast. The Marlins have produced the next generation's MIggy Cabrera. We have use up one of XBs cost control years and it was worth the minimum wage that he received. How many more years of cost control of XB would we get before he is arbitration eligible. I am not expecting a silver slugger from him in 2015. He is still developing.
  22. http://www.mlbtraderumors.mobi/25729/show/16dc946e24230c454429689e3eb72d53?t=s522rbj2cpih8dfurvqe6rmj96 I will be glad to see less of his obnoxious smug puss. I hope he crashes and burns with the Cubs. He'll have his work cut out for him since he had trouble making out line up cards for an AL team without losing his DH.
  23. Now I remember why I was so relieved that Lackey won game 6 of the 2013 Series for us and we didn't have to rely on Peavy in game 7.
  24. The guy is a beast. Neither of the other 2 guys will amount to half of what Stanton is already. Player control is very desireable if the guy is a star, but otherwise does it really matter. If it takes XB 2 more seasons to get on his feet and really produce, what would that give us... one more year of control before arbitration? Yes, I would give that up in a heart eat for 2 monster years from Stanton. Our only concern if we got Stanton would be rebuilding the Green Monster which he would likely knock down.
  25. So tragic. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24770067/cardinals-oscar-taveras-killed-in-car-accident-in-dominican-republic
