  1. No, don't close it yet. Leave it open for one more bet. Although I think the FO could have waited until June to have extended Porcello, I do think he will be our best starter. If his ERA is over 4, we are in deep poo as a team. Plus, he is on one of my fantasy teams. Let's show the jackholes here that betting can be done between friends and that it is not an act of war. LOL! But let's make the bet for a case of beer. I'll wager an American IPA of your choice and you wager a fine Mexican beer. I'll take the under 4 with no qualifiers. What do you say? It should be interesting friendly competition.
  2. A very enjoyable game for a change-- well pitched and good defense. Thatks how the game is played. Porcello has continued to strike ouit more men then he has in the past, and yesterday he was able to do it without elevating his pitches and having the hitters turn them into home runs. That is what he will need to do to be a top of the rotation guy-- miss more bats and keep the ball in the ballpark.
  3. If they don't like monetary bets, then they can wager signatures. I believe that there is at least one of those on the table, and we have been doing those at TalkSox for years. If people don't even want to make a gentleman's pinkie bet or signature bet, it indicates that they have no conviction in the stuff that they are blathering.
  4. A little superstitious are we?
  5. Porcello is pitching a nice game and he is staying away from the Home Run ball.
  6. Porcello is the guy that least concerns me.
  7. Is anyone watching the Orioles' game?
  8. I don't think they will be dead last, but they need to improve about 8 spots just to stay at .500 for the season.
  9. Don't let reality and the statiscal track records of the staff interfere with the hopes and dreams of those who put their trust in Ben Cherington.
  10. The Yankees have the advantage of taking on more of the financila burden, so they might get away with less prospect cost.
  11. A team is never as bad as it looks when it is going bad and is never as good as it looks when it is going good. We are .500 right now, neither good nor bad. Maybe this is what this team is -- good hitting and crappy pitching.
  12. It's harmless opinion. Get over it. State your own opinions and move on. Criticizing others for their own opinions always leads to a s*** show. Edit: Do something useful with your time and kick U.N.'s ass and put it on Youtube so we can post it here.
  13. If you knew you were overreacting, you wouldn't be overreacting. Also, I didn't say that others weren't overreacting. I said that it was not true that people are throwing in the towel on the season.
  14. Hannigan running the bases baffles me. He doesn"t appear to be moving that slow, but he has been thrown out at first after infielders have booted his groundballs, they did a juggling act and autographed the ball, and the play at first isn't even close. I swear, I think he could hit a ball into the triangle, the CFer could get knocked unconscious running into the wall and the RFer and LFer could collide and break each others legs and Hannigan would be held to a single.
  15. ^This isn't true. This is your overreaction. People are just taking note that the preseason concerns about our pitching were valid and further noting that something will need to be done about it if they want to seriously contend. The current rotation is not going to dramatically turn things around. They aren't the worst staff in the majors imo, but they are a mediocre bunch that will burn out our bullpen in a couple of months. The good news is that the entire division seems to be fighting for the bottom of the standings instead of the top of the standings.
  16. They are going to have to mute the field microphones and tell the players to watch their language. The umpire's calls will sound like they are being made in your living room.
  17. They need to climb about 10 spots on that list to have any hope of hovering around .500 and remaining competitive. If the pitching remains last in ERA into the latter part of June, mid- season pitching acquisitions will not be a consideration.
  18. It's insane. I'd like to watch tomorrow's game. That is going to be bizarre.
  19. The pitching sucks so naturally it is the fault of a handful of posters. Lol!
  20. The Red Sox own the worst ERA in baseball-- dead last out of 30 teams. There is nothing positive to take from that. There is no silver lining to that story and there are no excuses.
  21. This place is just an outlet for his hatred that burns as hot as 100 suns, as he said. Do yourself a favor and ignore him.
  22. It's all part of Ben's master plan.
  23. Fred, this pitching staff is clearly your fault, not Ben's fault. All of the good pitchers were taken by the other GMs -- not Ben's fault. lol!!!
  24. Craig stinks. He has no place on this team.
