    On balance Ben was a terrible GM. He started at the bottom of the organization and worked his way up. He was an example of the Peter Principle. He was not suited to this last job. He is a standup guy with lots of integrity. I am sure that he will find a position with another club. I don't think anyone will hire him as their GM, but someone will have a job for him. If it is true that they offered to let him stay on as GM, I think it was foolish to have quit. I think things have nowhere to go but up with DD. Plus, he would have had help from Dipoto. He should have stayed for the upswing. If nothing else, it would have helped build a stronger resume.

    Dombrowski has a history with this ownership and they got woodies when he became available. So, good, bad or otherwise we are stuck with him for the rest of this decade. Ben only has himself to blame. Three s*** shows in 4 years. He had to go. Regardless of what they are saying publicly, we were getting a new GM. I don't think he could do worse than 3 last place finishes. The bar is pretty low right now. I just want some competitive meaningful baseball after April.

    Fielder, verlander and VMart? Those are some pretty talented and accplishes players. They are all still pretty good despite being passed their primes. Porcello and Panda are not the same class of player.

    I agree, and also Holt can be in that mix too. Once Pedey comes back, Holt will start moving around the field again. I might look for a righty bat in the OF is De Aza goes. Holt, Bradley and De Aza are all left handed.

    You are right. I forgot the rules of baseball are much different in Cuba. There the fielders throw live balls in the stands all the time. They even have a stat for it LOL!! Kimmi, that is not a shot at you or anyone else just because I mentioned stats. It's a poke at Mr. Castillo who needs to go to Mass General for testing to see if he has any brain activity.

    Chase Utley to the Dodgers in exchange for minor leaguers Darnell Sweeney and John Richy. L.A. will reportedly receive about $4MM, meaning the Phillies will save a bit less than $2MM.

    Seriously, is Hanley giving Castillo stupid mentoring. The guy is an idiot on the bases and in the field. Little league kids have a better idea of what is going on in the field.

    Trading him would be my preference, and the alternative would be trading Panda and moving Hanley to 3B.

    Yep. That is true, which is why I never bet on baseball.

    Ortiz is likely to vest for 2017 too, so there is no DH spot for Hanley until the last year of his contract.

    The funny thing is that Kimmi and I agree on a lot of the moves and issues, but just not on the reasons why. Lol! That we never agree upon.

    Castillo forgets how many outs there are and he throws the ball into the stands with runners on the bases. This guy is a bigger airhead than Hanley. He had a couple of mental errors last night. This guy is game stupid. Just embarrassing.

    He would already have a starting position if he didnt crap all over the 500+ ABs that he got last season. If had shown any of this last season, I doubt that we would have obtained Castillo.

    If he continues his hot hitting throughout the remainder of the season, he could rebuild himself into a very valuable trade chip, or perishable the thought, he could win a starting spot with us and DD could unload Hanley.

    Bradley with opposite field power and a three run home run and Hanigan goes back to back
