  1. A win is a win. The last pig got the final out.
  2. I am as surprised as anyone by Bradley's turnaround. I was hoping for major league replacement level offense, but he is looking much better than that.
  3. Other than Tazawa, our bullpen is a parade of pigs.
  4. That was crushed.
  5. Especially, those fans eating the blue cotton candy. They tend to be the most demanding. It is not the fans fau!t. The FO has made lots of bad moves that are inconsistent and belie any cohesive strategy.
  6. It was pretty obvious after April that this was a very bad team again, after finishing last the year before. Yet, the fans keep coming. The theory that Red Sox fans would not tolerate a rebuild is an unsupported theory. Their steadfast loyalty indicates otherwise.
  7. The Phillies have a bunch of no-name bums. They are like watching a minor league team. We should clean their clocks.
  8. Ahem, the Red Sox fans are still packing 37,000 fans a game into Fenway Park in the third season of last place teams out of the last 4 years. That's pretty patient. The Cubs lost fans prior to this season during Theo's rebuild.
  9. Maybe the schizo FO should have figured some of this out before they traded one of the big stars of the game (Rizzo) to get those overpriced players that they so desperately dumped. Edit: Essentially, we trade Rizzo for Miley. Yuk.
  10. To quote Maxwell Smart, "Missed it by that much." holding fingers an inch apart. LOL!
  11. Anyone who thinks that Ben's plan is about to bear fruit is seriously mistaken-- at least with regard to the pitching. I am not sure that he had any specific pitching plan or strategy except to collect mediocre garbage. From today's Herald: DD has his work cut out for him.
  12. I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where we discuss which starting pitchers from the 2015 train wreck staff will carryover to 2016. I have said since the 2015 preseason that we needed 2 top of the rotation pitchers. Ben disagreed. See my sig. Ben is gone. He thought that he knew better, but he didn't. Here are my holdovers. Who are yours? You can votes for as many or as few as you would like. Who do you think DD brings back? Rodriguez/Owens -- one will make it, based on September and Spring Training Porcello -- his contract is too large to move Buchholz -- they will exercise his option but not be able to trade him for good value due to health concerns Miley will be a victim of a numbers squeeze. His contract is reasonable and his performance is consistent. He is our most tradeable pitcher. I believe that he will be traded. Has Kelly turned a corner? If he puts up a solid September to build on a spectacular August, Kelly could force his way into the rotation possibly forcing out the rookies.
  13. I agree with you. If you have 2 rookies in the rotation that would be another year of rebuilding and pitching failure. I think we should let the kids fight it out for one of the spots. The others should go back to AAA hone their craft and be ready if needed.
  14. You have lot of time on your hands don't you.
  15. Agreed. They have been horrendous over the course of the entire season.
  16. Girardi may be in the process of burning out Betances a AL Joe Torre and so many 8 th inning pitchers.
  17. Unbelievably, Girardi has to bring in Betances in this game. Of course, our interim idiot gave up the game a couple of innings ago when he sent up Leon for Ortiz with two men on base and the score being 12-5.
  18. The hitters have put up a 7 spot. I would boo the manager and some of our pitchers for a horrendous game
  19. They are trying. The pitching is just garbage. The guys on the mound have taken is out of games all season long.
  20. Another home run by the Yankees. Owens is charged withe 7 runs.
  21. The kid had nothing today. He doesn't even get through two innings giving up 6 runs so far.
  22. 4:10 Start -- Game in Progress Yankees leading 3-1 top 2nd inning Owens vs. Tanaka Bottom first Ortiz drove in a run with a double. In the top of the second inning, Owens gave up back to back homers to Bird and Murphy.
  23. DD has a pitching staff that needs improvement externally. He has a logjam of mediocre pitchers and rookies. He probably needs to give one of the rookies a path to the rotation and the others will be depth. If he adds two top of the rotation pitchers, he has a game of musical chairs with the mediocre choices and Buch: he will have Miley, Porcello, Kelly, and Buchholz vying for 2 rotation spots. He can probably move Kelly to the pen where he can also be a depth option. Porcello has an albatross of a contract, so he will be very difficult to move. I think he will be in the 2016 rotation. It will come down to Miley and Buch. Neither is a bullpen pitcher. One needs to go. It will come down to which one is the more tradeable commodity. Will it be Miley with a reasonable size contract for a reliable 200 innings and a 4+ ERA or Buch with a reasonable salary who can be outstanding for half season stretches? They need to pick up his option for additional flexibility in moving forward. My bet is that no one will offer much talent for a guy with a bad elbow until he proves that he is healthy. He will not be able to establish that he is healthy until Spring Training. Most teams have their pitching settled by then. My bet is that DD doesn't wait until Spring Training and trades Miley in the offseason.
  24. And neither was the check swing. Douche ump should have asked for help and not ended game on that.
