  1. Do the panda for shields trade and sign Chris Davis.
  2. yep. Eat your heart out.
  3. I knew DD would land him. The Cubs were not going to invest $370 million in 2 starting pitchers. DD acquired him in Detroit and then did him a huge favor trading him to a contender with the best offense in baseball in his walk year.
  4. ot is the going rate for an ace. That doesn't make us the Yankees. Big talent doesn't come cheap.
  5. We will take up a collection to buy you a blanket to help you with the shuddering.
  6. Based on what I have read, this is not going to happen. With no idea how he will handle first base when he shows up for Spring Training, I am betting that DD gets rid of him.
  7. Culp was an excellent pitcher when healthy. I was at his last good game -- a 2-1 victory over the Yankees on the 4th of July 1973 at the original Yankee Stadium.
  8. OMG! Stop abusing the FO. LOL!
  9. Two of our starting three outfielders are RH. Did we need a RH platoon pickup?
  10. Abuse? Seriously? Talking about management in a critical manner is abuse? I don't think so. Abuse of players? Despite the facts that some huge ayholes go to Fenway, I can't think of too many players on the recent last place teams being abused by the Fenway Faithful.
  11. It is exactly like that.
  12. If the team plays better than .500 ball which it has done with few exceptions since 1967, that is a winning team. I am not very demanding in that regard, because a team that plays better than .500 is usually playing some meaningful games in September. Recently, we have not had meaningful games in August. If expecting the Red Sox to play better than .500 makes me entitled, then I plead guilty. However, this has been my expectation before Theo Epstein was born.
  13. I think plenty of TalkSox members would volunteer to drive him to the airport if he gets traded -- without regrets.
  14. I have been expecting a winning team since 1967, and with rare exceptions, that is what they have fielded.
  15. I'd much rather have Zimmerman for the same price as Porcello.
  16. I am keeping my fingers crossed that DD can pull off a trade of Hanley
  17. Edison Volquez is very much over-looked. His 2014 & 2015 seasons were pretty darn good. We didn't have any pitcher over that 2 year stretch that came close to Volquez's accomplishments.
  18. I don't at all feel entitled to another last place finish. In my 50 years of being a fan, it only happened one other time (1992) under Butch crackhead Hobson, who once forgot and left his little boy at Fenway Park. He didn't realize it until he got home. Accomplishing the ignominious feat three times in the last four years has not spoiled me and I don't feel entitled to the basement of the standings.
  19. I would do a happy dance if DD gets rid of Hanley.
  20. Clemens used to hit Jeter all the time. They hated each other. When Clemens showed up for Spring Training with the Yankees, Jeter met him wearing catchers gear for batting practice as joke. They got along just fine.
  21. Sign me up for 4 consecutive Division championships and 10 years of competitive winning baseball. Could a fan hope for more? BTW the AL East has not been a great division for a few years.
  22. They won for 9 years. That is sustained winning, not a "win now" mentality.
  23. Really, 7-8 years of drought? That is difficult to achieve if you are willing to maintain a payroll that is in the top 5 in baseball. You are projecting a catastrophe that has never happened in the history of the game in the free agent era. Anything is possible. Ben broke the mold finishing last 3 times with a top 3 payroll. I don't think anyone had done that in the history of the game. That is not a prediction of doom. It is a fact. I will take my chances that DD will not do worse even if he has a win now mentality. He produced a consistently competitive team in Detroit for 9 years.
  24. And you give him a free pass for everything bad in his tenure and full credit for everything that worked well. You are the one with the biased view of him, not me.
  25. Goodness, will we do worse than 3 last place finishes in 4 years-- is that the kind of drought you speak of?
