  1. He had the luxury of finishing last 2 out of three years while rebuilding. He did not have the luxury of finishing last 3 out of 4 years, because at the team's payroll levels, it was too expensive to be a rebuild.
  2. T But what about Ben's students?
  3. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/tommy-hanson-hospitalized-in-coma.html
  4. It looks like we may have a lot to talk about soon.
  5. exactly. I didn't disagree with you. I just asked whether the author had a source or if it was an opinion. If I posted that today was November 9th, you would interpret that as a challenge. Lol! I am in your head.
  6. Agreed. A number 1 with 3 or 4 years of cost control will command a big price that will include major league experienced young players. Sonny Gray is not going to be had for a package of Moncado and Benitendi.
  7. I think you disagree just to disagree. I think every team would be willing to part with prospects for Sonny Gray. It is just a matter of whether they have the chips to make the deal and if they have the chips, the question is how many they would be willing to deal.
  8. He may become unemployed.
  9. i think it makes sense. It solves the Hanley problem as he could be plugged into third base.
  10. About the same time that Bogaerts would become a free agent. No player is cost controlled forever. The idea is to get a guy with 3-4 years of cost control. Any GM would prefer that to a high priced free agent.
  11. That is so stupid that it is funny, but then again you are very funny.
  12. Cost controlled young aces like Sonny Gray are few and they will cost young cost controlled stars in return and/or a package of true can't miss blue chippers.
  13. it was a satirical comment on the absurdity of the economics of the game, but of you want to be personally insulting, maybe you are not smart enough to realize that.
  14. Then he would not be a cost controlled ace if he needs to be extended right away.
  15. Why resort to logic when we have Fangraphs?
  16. Cafardo was filling space. As for your assertion that there are owners who would rather pay big free agent money for an ace instead of getting a cost controlled ace for prospects, I would consider those owners to be morons.
  17. of course these figures do not take into account the difficulty of finding another part time #1 or 2 to slot into the rotation when Buchholz goes down. It doesn't happen.
  18. is there an owner that prefers big ticket free agents to cost controlled aces? Duh. It doesn't mean that you can get them. Cafardo states it like it is from DDs strategy board. He doesn't have a clue what DD will do any more than we do at this point.
  19. Typical of Cafardo. It's just his opinion.
  20. $13 million for a half season of excellent to mediocre or a full season of sucks ass -- either way he's a bargain.
  21. He's a box of chocolates that is finished by the end of June every year.
  22. If it wasn't sourced and it wasn't a prediction, on what was he basing his statement?
  23. A number 1 pitcher will cost Betts or Bogaerts unless the pitcher is in his walk year.
  24. Do you remember who wrote that? Was it a sourced statement or just a prediction?
  25. The numbers say that he is the worst so he must be the worst.
