    Bringing in a reliever against the Royals with inherited runners is like sending the reliever to his death if he doesn't have a good defensive team. They put the bat on the ball and the exposed the Mets infield defense. Collins set Familia up to fail twice. He didn't pitch poorly in the last two games. In fact, he was excellent in game 5. Game 4 he gave up a couple of hits, but his defense let the tying run score. If Collins had gone to Familia for the 6 out save like Yost went to Davis in that game, there would be baseball tonight. But I can't be certain of that either. The Royals proved to be an impossible team to put away.

    I don't think he would have taken a lot of heat over it if he had been thrown out. If they had lost they would have gone back to KC up 3 games to 2. They were playing with house money.

    Idiots and drunks. LOL!! Harvey, at most, should have been allowed 1 baserunner in the 9th inning. He set up Familia for failure 2 nights in a row.

    Familia blew game 1 on his own. That was all on him. In his last 2 blown saves, he was credited with a blown save before he even gave up a hit. Collins set him up for failure by bringing him in with the tying run on second base with one out in the 8th inning in game 4 and with no one out in the 9th inning in game 5. He would have been just fine to start off the inning in the 9th. He pitched a great clean inning in the 10th. He pitched 2 hitless innings in game 5 and got the blown save,

    The final results make it look like the Mets got dominated, but the Royals snatched victory from them 3 times in the Series. It was the first time in Series history that a team won 3 games in the World Series after being behind in the 8th inning. Many Met fans are very unhappy about Collins late inning management of the final two games.

    i am at the game. Harvey was over throwing to Cain on the walk. He was too amped. And he should have been removed after the walk.

    Except for the teenie tiny detail that no one else heard Perez yell home including Perez.

    If he heard Perez yell home, he is the only one who heard it, not even Perez confirmed it. Perez is a standup guy and a team leader -- the kind that would take accountability if he did something wrong. Morales brain-cramped big time. Like I said in that situation you throw to second base no matter what you hear. He panicked like a rookie and he is making a punk excuse. You just love excuses.

    Post season awards are all BS -- a popularity contest, but I am glad that Xander is getting recognition for his fielding.

    I agree, and XB was very solid all year long, so it would not be a travesty to give it him. Gregorius was pretty bad for about the first 40 games.

    Did anyone read that Perez said that he yelled home? Edit: plus with first and third and one out on a hard comebacker, I wouldn't care if my catcher yelled bomb or fire, the runner on third doesn't matter there. The batter hadn't left the box when Morales caught the ball. He had a brain fart and is making excuses. I don't like excuses.

    Gregorius's stats are not overwhelmingly better than Bogaerts' stats. They are somewhat better and the defensive metrics are not definitive of who is the best fielder when they are that close. I have seen a lot of both of them this year and I think XB was the equal of Gregorius this year. I was very critical of him last year, but I couldn't find fault with his defense this year.

    But he didn't throw the ball home, and then he looked to third. I didn't see anyone pointing to third. It was a major brain fart. Even if his catcher called for the ball, the ball was a tailor made inning ending DP. The batter wasn't even out of the box when Morales got the ball.

    Gregorius was very shaky early in the season. I am surprised if his metrics are so much better than Bogaerts.

    If there is no standout and hecis close enough to the top three to get nominate then what is your problem with him being a finalist? You say he doesn't deserve the award, but you present nothing to back that up other than an assumption that his bat was considered by voters. The only SS that I can think of who is clearly better than XB defensively is Iglesias, andi don't think he had a very strong season.

    What the hell was Franklin Morales doing on that comebacker to the mound with first and third and one out. He swiveled to look to second then quickly turned toward home plate then he looked at third base then finally back to second base and then spiked the ball at second base. That opened the floodgate for a huge inning. It may have been the biggest defensive rock that I have seen in a world series. Earlier in the game, Ventura didn't cover first base on a ground ball to the right side allowing another run to score. Their defense has not looked all that special.

    No and no. Some of my best friend and favorite relatives are/were teachers including my wife. And my Father was a Phy Ed instructor.
