  1. Apparently some people think we got completely ripped off. I don't think this is Anderson for Bagwell or Slocumb for Varitek and Lowe. Kimbrel is an All Star.
  2. i get it, but I am hoping
  3. They have a big ticket pitcher in Lester and Boros is Arrieta's agent. Soon they will have to pony up big bucks for Rizzo. The fit with the Cubs finances might not be there.
  4. I think DD is going to land Price.
  5. You have a very negative outlook. Look at it this way, we could keep the whole farm and do nothing and finish last for years to come, because our organizational pitching is horse poop.
  6. Without looking at stats, his velocity is around 85-86 and his go to pitch is his curveball. My recollection is that his WHIP is pretty high too. I could be wrong about this, but I don't think I am, especially about the curveball being his go to pitch. We would not want him closing for us. I wouldn't mind him as a 7th inning guy, but not as a closer. He is not in Kimbrel's league at this point in time. Not even close.
  7. You are equating KRod with Kimbrel? There is a huge difference in quality. Huge.
  8. From MLB Trade Rumors:
  9. Gut is the right word...probably have to add Owens. Sale is a premier top 5 pitcher who is young and cheap. It would take Bogaerts or a gutting of the system.
  10. That could be the case.
  11. What is being lost in this whole discussion is just how good Kimbrel is. Is there a better closer? And he's young.
  12. Congratulations to Rich Hill in landing a multi-million dollar major league 1 year deal to be in the A's starting rotation. I felt there was almost no chance of him staying with the Red Sox, because he was not going to accept a minor league contract unless there was nothing else available. He's 34 and running out of chances.
  13. I think I would swallow real hard and then pull the trigger, even for Bogaerts.
  14. It does conjure up images of people tearing out their hair in hysteria. LOL!!
  15. The SF Giants extend Brandon Crawford for 6 years/$75 million.
  16. I think he will build consistent sustainable success, not one World Championship followed by years of last place.
  17. At the cost of winning.
  18. Agreed. I have little doubt that he can pitch well in Boston. The only question is whether he would want to put up with the crap.
  19. If he hits 30 bombs and knocks in 100 runs again, I would be surprised if he hangs it up.
  20. I am not a mental health professional, but based on my lay experience, anxiety disorders and depression can often be overcome and successfully managed. It is often not a chronic situation as is schizophrenia. Greinke has not had a recurrent episode in many years and he has pitched in All Star games and playoffs that carry lots of pressure. Boston shouldn't be a problem even if there are some dickwads in the stands shouting disgusting stuff. I just don't understand those so-called fans. Yell at the umps and occasionally the manager who has been sleeping on the bench, but not the players. I like Greinke better than Price, but he probably should never listen to Red Sox talk radio stations. No player should listen to that crap.
  21. His history with DD will play to our advantage.
  22. What would be your plan for Red Sox pitching?
  23. I would be onboard with any of those trades you proposed.
  24. He was never cost controlled and cheap. He came with a big price tag. He is completely different than Sale or Sonny Gray who are cheap young and under control.
  25. I i did not say that they would be drastically devalued because their MLB future with the Red Sox was a long shot due to being blocked, but yes I do think in a negotiation it lessens your leverage.
