  1. I get your position. The moves that you like you think were Ben moves and the moves that you don't like you attribute to others. I think that is unreasonable.
  2. I have no doubt that he will bounce.
  3. You can't have it both ways. You throw bouquets at Ben for the moves you like and blame LL or JH for the moves you don't like. That doesn't sound like a rational operating model. Ben was either making the moves and the recommendations or LL was running the show. If you claim that LL was making the personnel decisions, basically Ben was a puppet, not the GM. @ Username with the douchery comment. You are the biggest douche here. You need to stop. I hope that wasn't a subtle insult or veiled in any way. @Username -- as far as your accusation of making things up, I am just assuming that Ben had the responsibilities of a GM. I am not the one cherry-picking the bad moves to exonerate him or elevate him. That is making stuff up. Also, please respect the ignore feature and stop taking free potshots at me that I don't see unless someone else posts them. It is not in the spirit of the ignore feature. The Ignore feature is not there to give the ignored poster free reign to take unanswered potshots.
  4. Leyland would not be permitted in Fenway because he smokes cigarettes.
  5. DD should clean house. Three last place finishes in four years cannot all be hung around Ben's neck. The organization has been a failure on many levels over that period. The biggest deficiency has been the inability to scout or develop top quality pitching.
  6. Yankee Stadium's right field is a joke and a mockery of the game. It is a good dimension for Slow pitch Softball.
  7. Unnamed executives. Was this such highly sensitive information that each of the execs needed to be off the record? Maybe Abrahams just needed to put something in a column. But like I said before, if you are right, Ben was a puppet, not really the GM. It is impossible to evaluate the performance of a puppet.
  8. Mo is the first weight challenged Red Sox guy that pops to mind and he dropped like a stone at age 30.
  9. I don't doubt it either, but the quote was not about that. I doubt that the projected standings influence any FO in any meaningful way.
  10. It is not clear that he was talking about projected standings. It seems like he is referring to individual projections.
  11. Sound advice. Also, never listen to Sport Talk Radio.
  12. Obama was there? Seriously, it sounds like you had a blast.
  13. If he looks like Daniel Bard in Spring Training, they need to call an audible.
  14. There is one complaint by one poster on one message board.
  15. It is a consensus? That would be a consensus opinion by unnamed executives. You stated it as if it were a fact that executives said this on the record in an interview. This is not what I call backing up an opinion with facts. It is bcking up an opinion with innuendo. It's absurd to think that the people above him were negotiating deals with personnel if the GM didn't recommend those moves. If they did, then I guess that you are right that he didn't get fired, because he was not the acting GM. If your theory is true, we can't even form an opinion about whether he is or is not a good GM, because he was just a puppet.
  16. I disagree. Like I said in a prior post, his signing dominated the news cycle in Boston for all of 5 minutes. They have been filling the ballpark without him and revenue from Panda memorabilia is a joke.
  17. Let's hope he is right.
  18. An upgrade weight-wise?
  19. Local popularity doesn't usually travel well. If our management got him for a PR boost, they misfired badly.
  20. She prides herself on backing up her arguments with facts. I am sure that she will come back with something.
  21. Which executives, and were they stating their opinion or do they have first hand knowledge? You make it sound like they have factual knowledge of the decision making process.
  22. A sexy doughnut? Seriously? I don't think he was signed as a PR coup.
  23. Welcome. You will find a love of the game here. But some members do watch at bars.
