  1. Yankee Stadium's right field is a joke and a mockery of the game. It is a good dimension for Slow pitch Softball.
  2. Unnamed executives. Was this such highly sensitive information that each of the execs needed to be off the record? Maybe Abrahams just needed to put something in a column. But like I said before, if you are right, Ben was a puppet, not really the GM. It is impossible to evaluate the performance of a puppet.
  3. Mo is the first weight challenged Red Sox guy that pops to mind and he dropped like a stone at age 30.
  4. I don't doubt it either, but the quote was not about that. I doubt that the projected standings influence any FO in any meaningful way.
  5. It is not clear that he was talking about projected standings. It seems like he is referring to individual projections.
  6. Sound advice. Also, never listen to Sport Talk Radio.
  7. Obama was there? Seriously, it sounds like you had a blast.
  8. If he looks like Daniel Bard in Spring Training, they need to call an audible.
  9. There is one complaint by one poster on one message board.
  10. It is a consensus? That would be a consensus opinion by unnamed executives. You stated it as if it were a fact that executives said this on the record in an interview. This is not what I call backing up an opinion with facts. It is bcking up an opinion with innuendo. It's absurd to think that the people above him were negotiating deals with personnel if the GM didn't recommend those moves. If they did, then I guess that you are right that he didn't get fired, because he was not the acting GM. If your theory is true, we can't even form an opinion about whether he is or is not a good GM, because he was just a puppet.
  11. I disagree. Like I said in a prior post, his signing dominated the news cycle in Boston for all of 5 minutes. They have been filling the ballpark without him and revenue from Panda memorabilia is a joke.
  12. Let's hope he is right.
  13. An upgrade weight-wise?
  14. Local popularity doesn't usually travel well. If our management got him for a PR boost, they misfired badly.
  15. She prides herself on backing up her arguments with facts. I am sure that she will come back with something.
  16. Which executives, and were they stating their opinion or do they have first hand knowledge? You make it sound like they have factual knowledge of the decision making process.
  17. A sexy doughnut? Seriously? I don't think he was signed as a PR coup.
  18. Welcome. You will find a love of the game here. But some members do watch at bars.
  19. And grown men serenade each other with it at Red Sox games.
  20. Francona was a master at penciling in Ortiz and Manny in the lineup every night at 3/4 or 4/3. that was the secret to his success.
  21. Yeah, his signing did dominate the news cycle in Boston for 5 minutes. Very reflective of his popularity and fan appeal.
  22. To generate box office among the Doughnut People demographic? I doubt it.
  23. It was a huge mistake letting Beltre walk. He has been durable and consistently excellent. His final destination is going to be the Hall of Fame.
