  1. DD should make some moves to go for it all this year while we have Ortiz to ride. If it costs some prospects, so be it. There will always be fresh crops of kids. People here in defending Cherries have said that a Championship was worth 3 last place finishes. DD should go for it.
  2. We will not be facing Wade Miley on Saturday. He has been placed on the DL. I wonder if the mariners are having second thoughts about passing on Buch.
  3. LOL!! Don't waste your time with the first 40 pages.
  4. I am sure that is fun. Watching the Independent League Long Island Ducks and the Mets A Brooklyn Cyclones are both fun for me. Baseball at almost any level is fun for me to watch, but I am not anticipating seeing any of them in the majors in the near future.
  5. And the 2017 offense will need plus pitching that we do not have currently.
  6. I think the PED cloud over Nomar is extremely unfair. He is no more of a suspect to me than any other player from that era.
  7. Do we have Lou Gehrig?
  8. I do, when they get to AA. I don't have the time to follow the Gulf Coast A league.
  9. I am not worried about the PR of the situation, nor am I concerned about the sensibilities of his replacement. I am concerned about the offense experiencing inconsistency for a long time.
  10. Agree 100%. The kid is wearing a knee brace, so there is little question that he is not 100%. He is not pitching well either, so there is really no reason to keep risking his future by trotting him out there. DD needs to get to work.
  11. I know that the thought of parting with prospects sends a shiver down the spine of many TS members, but the truth is that there will be a huge hole in our Roster when David Ortiz leaves. No one can replace him. The dynamic of our lineup will change radically. Post Ortiz Red Sox baseball will be more difficult than anyone would like to think.
  12. No one is being tough on him. He is probably not fully healthy. If he isn't, they need to figure it out and make sure that he gets healthy. Until he is fully healthy, it isn't reasonable to expect him to help the 2016 team.
  13. Yep, I remember your initial concern before I even read about the injury. I think your concern was well-placed.
  14. Toronto's hitters are starting to heat up, and their hitters are very good, and their pitching is better than ours. I think they are the favorites to win the division. The Orioles will be fighting us for the wild card.
  15. I don't think he is fully healthy. And I am not very hopeful that he can help the 2016 team.
  16. Yep, all the games have been one-sided in the Finals. I think there was a Celtics-Lakers finals in the 80's where the 2 teams alternated blowing out the other team.
  17. The kid Groome is so far away from the majors (at least 4 years) that he is not even a gleam in my eye. The Red Sox FO needs to do their jobs behind the scenes, and we will not be able to judge their results for 3 years or so.
  18. Pace really means nothing. I think people forget just how good Nomar was. His career was affected by injury, particularly the wrist injury. If Bogey is to have a better career than Nomar, he will just need to stay free of major injuries. He certainly has the skills to put together a great career. Pace in baseball really means nothing. Guys age, they get injured, they have personal problems etc. Careers do not progress according to some statistical pace. Bogey is fun to watch, and he is already a star. I am just going to enjoy watching him play now, while he is a Red Sox. I am not worried about where his career will end up. He could end up with a Derek Jeter career or a Tony C career. I'll compare him when he has a few more years under his belt.
  19. And when tortoises play baseball, that will mean something.
  20. How was ER's velocity?
  21. pace means nothing.
  22. That is eye-opening and very revealing.
  23. Wow! I am surprised. It got out of the park very fast and it went completely out of the park.
