  1. Tut tut tut with your feeble excuses.
  2. Farrell forgot that he has 3 catchers and extra pinch hitters. Let Haliday look foolish all day at the plate.
  3. Also, if they were ready for the bunt, maybe Rosales doesn't come up the inning that hit the 2 run HR.
  4. And I did not blame those things on the manager. Those things do not erase the poor coaching. His team was not ready for the bunt the second time around.
  5. Who is this bum that went deep?
  6. Thunder, you got a little cocky after your first school game and commandeered the game thread despite warnings from several members.
  7. Maybe a well-coached team is ready for the bunt the second time.
  8. Another bunt by the weak hitting lead off hitter not defended properly. Twice in a row. Maybe they will be ready for it tomorrow.
  9. Your mojo is on the line.
  10. Also Farrell is probably all discombobulated with the pitcher hitting. It is a lot to cope with.
  11. Or maybe you tell your first baseman to be alert to the bunt by the light hitting lead off hitter. Nah, Farrell has so much on his mind with sync'ing up his fitbit to his laptop, and trying to remember that Orsillo is no longer a Red Sox announcer. He has a lot on his mind. Let the players figure out the defensive positioning.
  12. And not anticipating the bunt by the leadoff hitter.
  13. And there is always the Farrell stupid factor.
  14. I think most managers with rare exceptions are clueless. There aren't a lot of high IQ's managing baseball teams. They are easily confused and tend to blindly copy the successes of other managers.
  15. My mistake. I meant to say that his teams are generally atrocious base runners, not base stealers. Bad base running is a hallmark of all Farrell teams going back to his Toronto days.
  16. I hate any game where Ortiz is not in the lineup.
  17. First of all, my criticisms are not limited to the manager's use of the bullpen. Second, whether a bullpen is good, bad or in between, a good manager will get more out of his group than a bad manager would get. A good manager maximizes the outcome of the squad he is given. No one is arguing that a good manager could take the 1962 Mets to the World Series, but you just can't grasp the fact that there are good managers and bad managers regardless of the quality of their squads. Farrell is not a top manager. He falls between average and below average.
  18. I don't think that he has a clue where the ball is going to go once it leaves his hand. For this reason, he cannot be trusted to come in with men on base. The good aspect of him is that his stuff is really hard to barrel up for hitters. He is a definite heart attack inducing closer.
  19. It is my opinion. I think he is a fairy terrible game tactician whose teams are generally very bad at fundamentals and atrocious at base stealing. Edit: I have been very clear about this for a long time. For some reason, this really bothers you. That's too bad for you.
  20. I can see that too.
  21. Again you are putting words in my mouth. Did I say that this was the Kimbrell of yesteryear? No, but he is the best that we have in the pen this year. I didn't defend him for yesterday's game. He s*** the bed. So in your world managers don't matter in the dugout. This is your argument. I wish you were right. Maybe we could get that Pedro mannequin from a few years ago to manage the team. I'll bet that he works cheap. If the in game moves mean nothing, Farrell should go back to the clubhouse after handing in the lineup card and work on his prepared post game remarks. He has no role in the dugout.
  22. I never denied that Farrell is clueless. Can you ever get anything right? That is different than saying that I blame him for everything, or can't you grasp the difference?
  23. Smoltz threw the splitter.
  24. Don't get your hopes up. I still remember all the anticipation surrounding John Smoltz.
  25. It will not be 18 games at the end of the season. Tampa is kicking ass on the ALE right now. We will have to see what the gap is on October 2nd. Plus, this isn't a precise science. Suffice it to say that without Kimbrel, I don't think we would be in the position that we are in now.
