  1. Price had a nice outing -- 7 innings is what we need from him. If we get 7 regularly from him and Sale and the others can go 6 innings most nights, we should win a lot of games.
  2. Thornburg is done for the year and part of next season.
  3. He is stinking. He won the Cy Young award last year and he is pitching to a 5 ERA and 1.50 WHIP up .5 from last year. He needs to pitch like a top of the rotation pitcher with a weakened offense. He gets paid $21 million a year. He needs to earn it.
  4. I got run over like that covering first one time and I did a full backward tumble. It is little embarrassing, but I held onto the ball making it less embarrassing.
  5. Porcello was garbage once again. The team is having trouble scoring runs. He can't be pitching to a 5.50 ERA. We aren't going to win too many games of his with that.
  6. Porcello: 2015 9 wins 15 Losses 4.92 ERA 2016 22 wins 4 Losses 3.15 ERA 2017 4 wins 9 Losses 5.00 ERA soon to be 10 losses
  7. Porcello is a bum. He can't even throw a Quality Start. He has given up 17 HRs already this season.
  8. It is amazing how many senile old drunks have been able to be successful with all that to consider.
  9. And possibly for no time.
  10. What is the prognosis for Hanley? He is missing his second game against a LHP.
  11. At the game mojo is always big. Enjoy!
  12. Pedroia agrees with Montero.
  13. Whether they need 1 or 2 nights off in between appearances is dependent on how many pirltches they throw. As pitchers get used to going 2 innings, there recovery period should not be an issue. The other night Barnes was lights out. He was completely in sync in his delivery. If we needed another inning to get that game to Kimbrel, I think it would have been foolish not to send Barnes out for a 2nd inning.
  14. 1 and 2 -- I don't want to see those things happen, but 2 would expose the dumbest managers. As for 3, that is just fun. Don't suck the fun out of being a fan.
  15. Remaining healthy is the key. The hitting has been underperforming. Maybe DD will address the issue at 3B. The starting pitching, except for Sale, has underperformed. If the hitting and starting pitching reach it's norms we should win the Division comfortably.
  16. You are probably right that most teams would just add another bullpen arm. I would add another position player, so I would have more flexibility PHing for Marrero or Lin or Vasquez.
  17. in the times that I have seen him including ST, it looks like he can hit and with good power. He is being squeezed out in a numbers game, I.e roster restrictions. If rosters were 26, he might be a major leaguer. BTW, MLB needs to add a roster spot. Benches are too thin. No PHers and no flexibilty for ingame decisions.
  18. I have to learn how to take "yes" for an answer.
  19. Yes, my bad. I misread the "no" out of your post. We are in agreement.
  20. After 2 lengthy rain delays, 6 innings would be great. You almost never see that.
  21. How so? An error to start the inning ... a dribbler IF jhit where the guy ran outside the baseline to avoid the tag. He gave up one hard hit ball and then bowed his neck to K the next two guys.
  22. Sure that can happen, but if the guy is really throwing the ball well and commanding his pitches, I would rather take my chances with him going another inning than bringing in a new arm from the pen. That's just me. Tonight, Alex Cobb was throwing a beauty against the Pirates. They didn't even get a hit against him until the 7th inning and Cobb got them 1-2-3 in the 8th inning and had 96 pitches. The Pirates were helpless all night long. Cobb had it on cruise control, but Cash managing to formula went to his closer to start the 9th. The Pirates hitters were no longer helpless against the closer and got a couple of doubles to tie the game. Colome is not Kimbrel. I thought it was a dumb move and turned off the game before Colome threw a pitch. So many dumb managers.
