Somebody mentioned it earlier today, but we have several hitters who have trouble recognizing and handling the slider. Xander is lost against the slider as are most of our hitters. Next question. Why don't more of our pitchers throw the slider?

The Guardians have elevated only 2 balls against him over 5 innings. One was a fly out and the other a hit but the runner was cut down trying to stretch to a Double. This is how Fister pitched when he was at the top of his game.

Another stupid out on the bases. Why make the last out by 15 feet at home plate when you are in the middle of your order against one of their bottom of the rotation pitchers. Edit: Just so stupid. If the next batter get a hit, we score 2 more runs, not one more.

Fister is a sinker-baller who needs to keep the ball low. He will give up some ground ball hits that find holes when he is pitching well. He needs to keep them from lifting the ball.

It always brings a smile to my face when the "advanced" metrics confirm my firmly held opinions based on my "advanced" analytical observations... , especially after they got it wrong the first time. They should just call me first and then find the numbers to let them back into the conclusion. LOL!!

The Nationals have announced that they’ve acquired Twins closer Brandon Kintzler. The Twins will receive lefty Tyler Watson in return and the rights to international bonus spending in return ($500K worth, via a tweet from MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand). In a corresponding move, the Nationals have announced that they’ve designated righty Jimmy Cordero for assignment. -
