The Yankees parted with only 1 top 50 prospect for their entire haul, so I don't know how many prospects we saved. That being said, DD held onto the right prospect.

Gomes has impressed me as a real student of the game. Maybe that is how he stayed in the league for 13 years with limited talent. He knows all the players I each league and how they are doing and an excellent grasp of the history of the game.

Yes, you are right about that. The KC A's were like a farm team for the Yankees. They would develop a good player and sell him to the Yankees for a few bucks.

Pedroia is a very important piece of this team. His power is down probably because of the bad leg, but he is still a top offensive producer and he is a great fielder. Even if we could replace his bat, we can't replace his glove. We don't want too many games where Nunez and Devers are on the same infield. Nunez is not in the same league as Pedroia when it comes to fielding.

I have said along that one big bat can make a difference. We have added two plus bats but lost one in Pedroia. It has made quite a difference. There is another old saying that "hitting is contagious". This is just another way of saying that hitters can make each other better and that there is a cascading effect. When Pedroia hopefully comes back healthy, the run production should remain improved even if pitchers adjust to Devers and Nunez cools off. If Devers and Nunez remain hot when Pedroia comes back, the run production should really heat up. I think Holt has brought a spark to the lineup the last couple of games. Benintendi has not been the offensive force that I had expected.

Or maybe they want to reclaim it really badly! LOL! What a crazy game. When Vasquez hit the ball, he knew it was gone, but I don't think the announcers knew and I wasn't sure either.

In the 70's, the Guardians fed the Yankees like crazy. Steinbrenner had his Cleveland roots and he hired Gabe Paul as GM who had been GM for the Guardians. They practically gave them Craig Nettles and Chris Chambliss, and I think there might have been someone else. I always thought that the Guardians GM was getting a nice cash bonus from the Boss.

Farrell is blowing up the game. Carrasco didn't have it tonight and Tito pulled him after 5 run. Sale didn't have it, but Farrell left him in for 7 runs and brings in a journeyman fresh from the dumpster.
