  1. , The “actual players”? Would those include the reliable relief arms that Bloom did not acquire, the starting pitchers who were identified as TBA in our rotation, and the first baseman and RFer that he never acquired? If so, I agree. These were all known needs in the offseason and for the first 104 games of 2022.
  2. C but trending downward. And C is not good enough to keep this job.
  3. No one wanted him. Couldn’t even get Gym equipment for him.
  4. Reacquiring Bradley is another Bloom move that made no sense. I don’t see it as implementing his management philosophy. JBJ wasn't worth a 2 year contract, so he let him walk, and then traded a 30HR guy to get him back to pay the second year of a contract that he had previously deemed to be an overpay, and he did that after JBJ put up an atrocious season below the Mendoza line. How does that further his management “philosophy”. Then there is the Barnes mid-season 2 year extension. That was a head scratcher. Now we have the 2022 deadline where he was neither a buyer or seller. He improved the MLB team, but didn’t address the most glaring need — pitching. And any improvement to the farm was very insignificant maybe it got worse if Groome pans out. I don’t see any cohesive strategy or philosophy from Bloom. Can anyone explain how these moves fit his philosophy?
  5. The Hosmer deal is a good deal. He is a huge defensive upgrade and he is also an offensive upgrade (but not as huge). The deal doesn’t make sense to me in the context of his other moves. Without upgrading the pitching, this team cannot compete this season, and they have Cassas waiting not the wings to play 1B next season.
  6. This was a bit over the top. ^
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/vin-scully-passes-away.html It was a treat to listen to a Vin Scully broadcast. It was art.
  8. You didn’t miss much being on the road.
  9. I have never been successful betting baseball.
  10. As bad as we feel about Bloom’s decisions at the deadline, the Orioles who are ahead of the Red Sox in the Wild Card chase treated their suffering fans to zero pickups for the ML roster and traded one of their reliable veterans in Mancini and their closer.
  11. Getting a Hosmer wasn’t a terrible move, but it isn’t going to turn the Red Sox into a contender, because Bloom didn’t address the pitching at all. Are they planning to have Hosmer play 1B in 23, blocking Casas and making Dalbec irrelevant. Otherwise, I can’t make sense of it.
  12. in the great tradition of Trey Ball:
  13. I am not hearing great reviews of the prospects that we received.
  14. Bloom did not address the team’s holes in the off season. He created additional holes in the off season. Now, at the trading deadline, he addressed the 1B hole with a steady but very average bat, and he got an old journeyman type outfielder with a bad temper. He traded a steady #1 catcher. But he did absolutely nothing about the most glaring need — pitching, especially in the bullpen.
  15. It’s all about sustainability.
  16. He may have been at the back of the line for brains too.
  17. Does anyone think this was a good trade deadline for the Red Sox? I don’t know what to make of it.
  18. So we trade Vasquez and Groome to get Tommy Pham and Hosmer. Is that it? If so, what was this supposed to be — buying... or selling?
  19. Blue Jays get Merrifield phillies get Syndegaard
  20. This doesn’t seem like selling or buying.
  21. Listening to the SD game feed. The 2 prospects are not exactly household names for them. They said one of them is a utility guy.
  22. Surprising that they threw in the towel on Groome.
  23. I am reading rumors that the Dodgers are going to have Gallo and Bellinger put on exhibitions of Home Run Derbies and K Contests.
  24. I wonder if the cause of the brawl was Fantasy Football.
