    When the trade deadline comes, I think J.D., Eovaldi, and Vasquez will be gone. Connor Wong will be called up to the be the backup catcher, the lineup will get weaker and the rotation will be filled out with 3 TBA’s each week. Contenders are not going to want any of our other garbage and Bloom will not move XB or Devers.

    Bloom got lulled into a false sense of security with last season’s success. 2021 team was a very poorly constructed and fundamentally weak team. It had bad defense, a pitching rotation full of holes and a bullpen lacking arms. Shockingly, they started off very hot, then they were in a tailspin but the acquisition of Schwarber and the return of Sale helped pull them out of the nosedive and then they got collectively hot. Kike was red hot and had a career month in late September and October. Those hot streaks masked the weaknesses of the team which Bloom failed to address in the offseason and the result has been disastrous. He deserves to be fired.

    No game thread for 7/30. The Red Sox have hit a new low. In memory, this has never happened.

    And Cora likes his speed, but you can’t steal first base and getting to a ball in the field is useless if you can’t make the play. I am sure he was very cheap.

    i don’t think he will improve his fielding enough to be a top CFer. He just doesn’t have the instincts.

    I am with you. I loved the trade, but not the extension after he was already having arm issues.

    As July closes out, the Red Sox are not in contention.
