  1. Young has had lost seasons before. When he was with the Mets, he was atrocious, and the Mets offense needed help. I think they dropped him that August. The Red Sox have been patient to a fault with Young. It's just not his year and we don't have the time to trot him out there to get the ANs that he needs to work it out. Anytime we face a lefty, we are at a disadvantage offensively and defensively if Bradley and Moreland are on the bench.
  2. Betts has not hit a HR since August 3rd.
  3. I agree with this. Last year was the outlier. He is a #4 innings eater with a 4.25 ERA. Coming off that outlier year, the FO was fooling itself thinking that they had 3 aces in the rotation and could get by with less runs. Porcello has always needed a lot of run support. Even in his Cy Young season, he got a ton of run support.
  4. I agree with you that Porcello isn't lousy because he has lost 16 games. He has lost 16 games, because he has been lousy.
  5. At least this was good news: [h=1]Price throws full arsenal in third bullpen session[/h] http://m.redsox.mlb.com/news/article/252420472/david-price-one-step-closer-to-rejoining-team/
  6. XB is helpless against the slider.
  7. The best of the Killer B's right now are Benintendi and Bradley. Benintendi is the best offensively and adequate defensively. Bradley is an All Star defensively and he does more than enough offensively. Betts is a top defender, but not at the level of Bradley, and his offense is slipping. Bogaerts is just a disappointment. He can't recognize or hit a slider. It is destroying his offensive game. His power threat is almost nonexistent. Defensively, Bogaerts is solid, but nothing special. Based on what I have seen thus far, I would not give any of these guys a 10 year contract.
  8. We didn't beat them last year without Carrasco and they have also added Encarnacion.
  9. Mookie is a shadow of what he was last season.
  10. We need a 3 run porcello tp get back into this game.
  11. Why has he abandoned the sinker? He is not a power pitch that van pitch up in the zone.
  12. Barring a bog comeback, Porcello will lose his 16th game in 2017 -- 1 more than he lost in 2015. Before anyone starts win the win-loss record is a bad measure blah blah blah, try this on for size. He leads the league in hits surrendered and HRs. The guy sucks.
  13. His ERA is now 4.67 on September 4th. There is nothing solid about that at all.
  14. 3 Porcello's today, including a 2 run and 3 run porcello. He gave us nothing today.
  15. Benintendi gets too close to the wall and lets the carom get by him allowing the runner on 1B to score, but he would have scored on the 2 run Porcello.
  16. Porcello with a 3 run Porcello.
  17. We resuscitated them and propelled them on a run.
  18. Someone should have hit that old fool 25 years earlier when he refused Yaz who pleaed to have him pitch Bill Lee against the Yankees instead of the immortal Bobby Sprowl.
  19. But he is terrible defensively. That is usually the most important criteria for backup catchers.
  20. I listen to many Yankee broadcasts, and I don't think that they are much more partial than the ESPN coverage.
  21. I listen to the radio feed. I can't take the ESPN crew.
  22. And Mendoza thinks that her primary role in the booth is to stroke Boone's ego.
  23. Mookie is a shadow of what he was last season. Even when he gets the barrel on the ball, it does not seem to be jumping like it did last year. His bling does match his cleats this year. Maybe that is the problem.
  24. Going into the series, all i wanted was a split. That would have buried the Yankees chances at the Division title and could have hurt them in the WC race. Hopes for a split was not overly ambitious, but no, we resuscitated the MFY's once again this season!!! f*** that!
  25. He still throws to the wrong base too often -- sometimes airmailing it wildly. He also is still having trouble with caroms off the monster and walls at other parks. These are the areas that he needs to improve. Those are his deficiencies so far. As a natural CFer, he tracks fly balls very well and with good speed. Let's hope those deficiencies improve before they bite us in a big spot. No one is worrying that he is Hanley out there, but he isn't Yaz yet -- regardless of any advanced metrics.
