  1. As I said in the post that you quoted, sometimes change for change sake is good. It shakes things up in the organization and gets people on their toes. But I guess that you just had a wise-crack that you wanted to get out there and didn't bother to read what I wrote.
  2. Dig down to find something extra.
  3. I noticed the j/k, but couldn't resist the opportunity to call him a fat slob. LOL!!
  4. I said that Betts was a top defender. But he is not at Bradley's level. I don't think Bogaert's D is as bad as you make it out to be. He does have more trouble going to his right than he has going into the hole. His arm is strong and consistent.
  5. I don't think calling him a fat slob is disrespectful, just descriptive. I was listening to the Colorado radio broadcast of the Giants game the other day and they were discussing his weight problem. The Giants are admitting to 255 lbs for the 5'10" Pablo. So, we know immediately that he is probably more than 255. What had he weighed in his belt-busting days before he got in such "great" shape? Goodness, how did he think that he could play MLB at such a weight?
  6. Farrell is not going to get fired in September. Finding a suitable replacement for next season should not be difficult at all. There are plenty of qualified candidates waiting for an opportunity. And sometimes change for change sake isn't a bad idea when the manager being replaced adds no value.
  7. I ageee. I think we are looking at ruined career -- the way that Bill Buckner was permanently hobbled by an ankle injury and the same thing happened to Tommy Davis in the 1960's. Bobby Valentine was a big talent, and his career was ruined by a lower leg injury. The difference with Tommy Davis and Buckner was that those guys were MVP type hitters. Valentine was not. His game was his legs and his fielding. Swihart similarly is not a great offensive player. His value was as a catcher. If his catching days are over, at age 26, it is probably very close to the time to part ways.
  8. The missed opportunity was letting Lovullo go. He is doing a great job in Arizona. They just beat up LA pretty badly.
  9. Young has had lost seasons before. When he was with the Mets, he was atrocious, and the Mets offense needed help. I think they dropped him that August. The Red Sox have been patient to a fault with Young. It's just not his year and we don't have the time to trot him out there to get the ANs that he needs to work it out. Anytime we face a lefty, we are at a disadvantage offensively and defensively if Bradley and Moreland are on the bench.
  10. Betts has not hit a HR since August 3rd.
  11. I agree with this. Last year was the outlier. He is a #4 innings eater with a 4.25 ERA. Coming off that outlier year, the FO was fooling itself thinking that they had 3 aces in the rotation and could get by with less runs. Porcello has always needed a lot of run support. Even in his Cy Young season, he got a ton of run support.
  12. I agree with you that Porcello isn't lousy because he has lost 16 games. He has lost 16 games, because he has been lousy.
  13. At least this was good news: [h=1]Price throws full arsenal in third bullpen session[/h] http://m.redsox.mlb.com/news/article/252420472/david-price-one-step-closer-to-rejoining-team/
  14. XB is helpless against the slider.
  15. The best of the Killer B's right now are Benintendi and Bradley. Benintendi is the best offensively and adequate defensively. Bradley is an All Star defensively and he does more than enough offensively. Betts is a top defender, but not at the level of Bradley, and his offense is slipping. Bogaerts is just a disappointment. He can't recognize or hit a slider. It is destroying his offensive game. His power threat is almost nonexistent. Defensively, Bogaerts is solid, but nothing special. Based on what I have seen thus far, I would not give any of these guys a 10 year contract.
  16. We didn't beat them last year without Carrasco and they have also added Encarnacion.
  17. Mookie is a shadow of what he was last season.
  18. We need a 3 run porcello tp get back into this game.
  19. Why has he abandoned the sinker? He is not a power pitch that van pitch up in the zone.
  20. Barring a bog comeback, Porcello will lose his 16th game in 2017 -- 1 more than he lost in 2015. Before anyone starts win the win-loss record is a bad measure blah blah blah, try this on for size. He leads the league in hits surrendered and HRs. The guy sucks.
  21. His ERA is now 4.67 on September 4th. There is nothing solid about that at all.
  22. 3 Porcello's today, including a 2 run and 3 run porcello. He gave us nothing today.
  23. Benintendi gets too close to the wall and lets the carom get by him allowing the runner on 1B to score, but he would have scored on the 2 run Porcello.
  24. Porcello with a 3 run Porcello.
  25. We resuscitated them and propelled them on a run.
