  1. And that fits with what philosophy or strategy... paying that much for a guy who didn’t hit .200 and throwing in a 30 HR guy to get him. Jeesh!
  2. Huh. And I thought the Sox were second to none on that category. I overestimated them or maybe I underestimated them.
  3. Fred McGriff missed by 7. He hit 493.
  4. McGuire is having a nice night. He may be happy enough to rub one out in the parking lot after the game.
  5. It was obvious after 2 batters that Hernandez didn’t have clue tonight. From there he always goes into destruction mode. But Cora doesn’t know this about his own player. Oye. Maybe he would have removed him had it not been for the 3 batter rule. I don’t think DHern is a 3 batter pitcher.
  6. I think the Red Sox should be done with him.
  7. Was Dhern just biting the baseball while waiting for that review?
  8. I didn’t realize that the Royals had Ty Cobb, Lou Brock and Rickey Henderson.
  9. Hosmer excels with the glove. Franchy would have batted that ball over the dugout into the stands.... but it would have been a very athletic move.
  10. Those would be the inadequate players that he brought north from camp like Dalbec and Franchy and numerous pitchers in the pen and the rotation who don’t belong on any major league roster, and whose fault was it for bringing north such inadequate players.
  11. His actions don’t indicate any focused or well-developed strategy or philosophy. His actions are confusing.
  12. Probably right. I don’t think too many of our players had much trade value.
  13. LOL! We will hear about how his great athleticism will help him adapt to catching. LMAO!
  14. , The “actual players”? Would those include the reliable relief arms that Bloom did not acquire, the starting pitchers who were identified as TBA in our rotation, and the first baseman and RFer that he never acquired? If so, I agree. These were all known needs in the offseason and for the first 104 games of 2022.
  15. C but trending downward. And C is not good enough to keep this job.
  16. No one wanted him. Couldn’t even get Gym equipment for him.
  17. Reacquiring Bradley is another Bloom move that made no sense. I don’t see it as implementing his management philosophy. JBJ wasn't worth a 2 year contract, so he let him walk, and then traded a 30HR guy to get him back to pay the second year of a contract that he had previously deemed to be an overpay, and he did that after JBJ put up an atrocious season below the Mendoza line. How does that further his management “philosophy”. Then there is the Barnes mid-season 2 year extension. That was a head scratcher. Now we have the 2022 deadline where he was neither a buyer or seller. He improved the MLB team, but didn’t address the most glaring need — pitching. And any improvement to the farm was very insignificant maybe it got worse if Groome pans out. I don’t see any cohesive strategy or philosophy from Bloom. Can anyone explain how these moves fit his philosophy?
  18. The Hosmer deal is a good deal. He is a huge defensive upgrade and he is also an offensive upgrade (but not as huge). The deal doesn’t make sense to me in the context of his other moves. Without upgrading the pitching, this team cannot compete this season, and they have Cassas waiting not the wings to play 1B next season.
  19. This was a bit over the top. ^
  20. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/vin-scully-passes-away.html It was a treat to listen to a Vin Scully broadcast. It was art.
  21. You didn’t miss much being on the road.
  22. I have never been successful betting baseball.
