  1. Very tough choice, but Dewey would get the edge because his arm was such a weapon. Players just didn't run on him.
  2. No, you have to give your team a chance.
  3. I think the metrics would support my observations.
  4. I would consider that more of salary dump than a trade. Financials being somewhat equal, i wouldn't trade a good starter for a reliever.
  5. Pom has had nothing. he should have walked Machado the last 2 times. The guy has been destroying him. He should have taken the bat out of his hands.
  6. I would never trade an everyday position player who is an all star for a pitcher. That’s just me. I would also never trade a good starting pitcher for a reliever.
  7. I saw Blair play, and he was still great as he got older. I saw him make one of the greatest catches that I have seen in person at Yankee Stadium. I believe that Fred Lynn was the hitter. He torched a drive to deep CF — easily a double, possibly a triple. By the time I looked up Blair was in full flight with his back to Home plate. He never looked back. At the very end he looked over his right shoulder and flicked up his glove above his right shoulder to catch the ball and then decelerated about a step and a half from the wall and veered to his left and never even hit the wall. It was amazing. He knew exactly where that ball was going from the crack of the bat and ran to the spot without looking until the end and he knew exactly where the wall was. People forget that skinny Blair was a plus hitter until he took a fastball off the noggin from Nolan Ryan.
  8. Price pitched a gem. They were eating out of his hand for the entire game. Coming into the 9th inning, he had faced 3 batters over the minimum and he had throwown around 80 pitches. With 2 out and 2 strikes on Machado, Leon gets his first brainstorm of the game and visits Price on the mound. The next pitch was a 3 run HR. After the game Price should tell Leon to keep his ass behind the plate, put down his fingers, and just shut up.
  9. The worst Red Sox contract ever.
  10. Hanley goes deep often when I am at games. Tape measure jobs.
  11. I gave season tickets, but living in NY cuts down on the number of games that I get to see at Fenway. Last season, between me and Youk, we had unbelievable at the game mojo. I only saw one loss out of 9 or 10. Unfortunately, it was the final playoff game, and we thought we pulled it out when Beny took Verlander deep.
  12. That is the second big bomb that I have seen Bogaerts hit in 4 games at Fenway — the gran salami last month. Also, saw him go deep at Yankee Stadium.
  13. And now Gausman is dealing. The bottom of our order is terrible. Our catchers are useless. Bradley is an automatic out. And Devers is really slumping too, not to mention Nunez.
  14. He wasn’t denied the shot. He got some significant time catching at the beginning. Then they put him in LF and he got hurt and healed slow. There has been nothing unfair about his shot. He got a shot, but was very unprepared to be a MLB catcher. Then he ran out of options. His development has been slow and it was further slowed by his injury. He’s 26 years old.
  15. At the game mojo. Got to my seats for Beny’s AB. JD is one strong hitter. I’ve seen him hit 3 HRS in 4 games @ Fenway— 1 to RF, 1 th LF and tonight to CF. All no-doubters.
  16. JD is so strong and a good hitter too boot!
  17. We have to start winning Sale's starts.
  18. Dick O'Connell drafted Hurst and Tudor. O'Connell may have had the best eye for talent of any GM in my lifetime. He drafted Hurst in the first round in 1976 and Tudor in the third round of the same year. After that, our pitching pipeline was sparse and sporadic at best.
  19. He has no options left. I don’t see him sticking at the MLB level with anyone. He has no defensive position, and he doesn’t hit enough to be a DH. Eventually, he will have to accept an assignment to the minors.
  20. The wrist and subsequent other injuries quickly took their toll on Nomar, but he generated more fan excitement than anyone since his early days with the team.
  21. That would have been a HR in Yankee stadium.
