  1. This is one of the reasons to avoid picking up Adrian Beltre.
  2. Vasquez is our primary catcher and his performance is way down (OPS .735 vs .548). Bradley is down significantly down (.725 vs .642). From season to season, some guys do better and others do worse. Devers is down .819 vs .715. Nunez is down .892 to .644. These are significant and they are matched by and exceeded by the increased performance of Betts, Benny and Bogey. The big difference maker is dropping a 1.037 guy into the lineup that hadn’t been there in 2017.
  3. Basically, it is just your opinion.
  4. I think you haven’t been following very closely. The other players are actively seeking and getting JD’s mentorship and they are mimicking and copy his approach to preparation. This has been discussed in numerous outlets.
  5. Is there a fangraph for that?
  6. LOL! We have alerted DD. He should lock the tires on Shields. At the prorated portion of a $5 million salary, it is very doable.
  7. Okay, I think it was a very poor decision regardless if the outcome of the game. The ASB was right around the corner. I didn’t see the danger of burning out the pen, especially when playing at home and they could send a cab to Pawtucket for a fresh arm for the weekend.
  8. We should be so lucky.
  9. They did win the game, but under your own logic, that doesn’t mean that it was the right decision. You are being being inconsistent if you are taking the position that a bad outcome doesn’t indicate a bad decision but a good outcome correlates with a good decision. i think our boys bailed out Cora’s very poor pitching decisions in that game.
  10. I thought the question in the thread was the reason for the improvement in the team this year over last year. That I believe is JD.
  11. I would want to put the kid in a position where he has a chance of to succeed. I don’t think it will help his development to keep running him out there to crash and burn.
  12. Small sample size?
  13. As of yesterday, Cora said that Pom still had not regained his velocity, and noted that he still had work to do.
  14. Catching lightning in a bottle is very rare which is why they call it “lightening on a bottle.”
  15. I am not saying that he is the silver bullet, but he is performing very well this year. He has always had a problem with the HR ball, but not this year. I think DD should kick the tires on him. If he can continue to avoid the HR ball, he could be very useful in the 5 spot.
  16. It is the final verdict. Even Kimmi admits that it was a bad decision although she makes excuses for it. No one disagrees that it was a bad decision. Hence, it is the final verdict. BTW, the lawyers write the judge’s opinions. The judge attaches his/her name.
  17. I think they need to pull back the reigns on Beeks. He clearly can’t handle the majors yet and in each outing his confidence is being destroyed. I think they will need to leave him AAA until he starts dominating at that level.
  18. It became starkly apparent that Farrell needed to go when the team turned around its performance for Lovullo when Farrell left for medical treatment. I firmly believe that Farrell would have been fired had it not been for the cancer. I think they didn’t want to be viewed as heartless.
  19. Betts improvement is probably matched and evened out by Bradley’s terrible performance. Bogey’s uptick is probably countered by both catchers being dogshit. The difference is JD.
  20. I am glad that you admit that it was a poor decision. You always like to let the manager off the hook with excuses. Final verdict: It was a poor decision and many of us knew it in real time.
  21. He had a successful year, but his over all record was dogshit. I have said it before. If baseball regarded him so highly as his devotees on this board, he would be a GM somewhere. He took his one year break at Columbia and no one was offering him a GM job. Edit: The market often does hire incompetents, but it never leaves competent high performers on the side lines.
  22. That it happens doesn’t mean that it is acceptable. It only means that those GMs have done a poor job. As to the Mets, they are a terribly run organization.
  23. JD Martinez period. The team won the division and is better this season. He is the reason. All the other positive perforformances are countered by negative performances to a great degree. JD has been the difference. If he gets injured, we will be in deep doo doo.
  24. And sometimes a driver sees the red light and goes through it anyway. People make poor decisions sometimes despite all of the information available.
