  1. Did Teddy Ballgame make Tabor better or was that just a myth?
  2. I had no idea that he spoke Latin.
  3. His bat lacks the explosiveness of Reddick's. Josh always had a very live bat. He just needed to make consistent contact. So, i am not worried that he will be Josh Reddick either.
  4. You and your posse are quite annoying. Let's get Hitch in here now too and Illinois for the pile on.
  5. Cabrera's knees are very bad. And i think you are right that this is the final year of his contract.
  6. And Henry Owens was our depth option and untouchable. Yuk!
  7. The pitching was just awful those years. Not competitive.
  8. I am not worried on the least that I will be looking at another Jeff Bagwell. Margot is never going to be a star.
  9. The arguments that Ben was a good GM always remind me of prizefighters with broken noses and bleeding from cuts complaining that they should have won the fight because they claim that the other guy never laid a glove on them. The assertion is ridiculous.
  10. Three last place finishes are not flukes. Enigmas are not that common. That would fly in the face of the laws Law of Randomness to an extent that would destroy the usefulness statistical study.
  11. It is stark, as is the difference between GM and his current job. Let’s not tip toe around it.
  12. DD also didn’t have the 2nd or 3rd highest payroll in those initial seasons. Ben had $200 million payrolls and was finished last. To paraphrase Joe Castiglione: that was a big multi year squander. If you want to rebuild and finish down in the standings, you can’t have a top payroll and finish last. That’s just a bad job. There are no ifs, buts or what’s about it. To argue otherwise is foolishness. And that the guy is still not a GM confirms that he wasn’t good at the job. The market is the objective indicator.
  13. Amaro was as bad as you get for a GM.
  14. Those guys plus Betts is not a good team. LOL
  15. And he will never be the #1 pitcher on a Championship team. He had 1,300 innings at the MLB level when we got him. After 3 plus years of him, he is still a 4.25 ERA pitcher. There wasn’t going to be a huge development in his production after having so many innings under his belt. It just doesn’t happen.
  16. price has already produced more value than Sandoval and Hanley combined.
  17. The mortgaged the future argument is pretty empty as the guys he gave up except for 1 guy currently in AA, no one that he traded is looking great at their level. If we had kept those guys, there is just as much credence in the statement that the future would have been bleak.
  18. At the time Porcello was the 4.25 Career ERA pitcher with 1,300 innings under his belt. He was no ace and still is not an ace. And the rest of the staff was Turkey turd. If Porcello had performed, we would have been a 4 th place team. He didn’t perform so we finished last. That team had no chance of contending.
  19. The Sports marketplace is the best indicator of performance. If you are good , you get a job. Ben got fired as GM and despite the large number of GM openings that off season, no one offered him their GM job. That speaks volumes and it is a pretty good indicator of what people thought of the job that he did as GM. Three years late and still he is a coffee caddy.
  20. Spud might have the best sense of humor on Talk Sox.
  21. He looked okay last night behind the play. Fingers crossed.
  22. With the pitching that we were bringing north, they were at best a 4th place team. The staff was awful.
  23. Cora probably wanted to guard against Beeks melting down to start the game and blowing up the game in the first inning like in his last start. He went with the more veteran guy first.
  24. Puig has a strained side or something right now. He has a lot of trouble staying on the field.
  25. Israel, I always have trouble beating your teams. You pitched a 10-0 shutout against me this past week. LOL!!
