  1. Lets hope Wells just has a nasty deep contusion. If it's a fracture, he's done for good.
  2. Here he goes again polluting the Red Sox game thread.
  3. It looked like he had him struck out on the previous pitch.
  4. Wells pitches to contact. Sometimes the contact is hard.
  5. He's been a very solid #7 and 8 hitter. You are not going to see too many pitches with hitters behind you hitting less than .200.
  6. These two pitchers are being very economical.
  7. Oh, I am sorry I must have missed the clean hit. My eyes saw a squib that the 3B threw into the stands, and when the throw went by 1st, Jeter was still a full step away. Silly me to question the home town call. If it had been ARod, the NY press and fans would have crucified him and taken away a hit. BTW I think DJ would probably like to remember a cleaner hit when he looks at that ball in years to come.
  8. Congrats to Jeter on his 200 hit even though it was a real cheapie aided by the home town official scorer. It's been a pattern in NY that the press actively aids and creates the myth of Captain Intangibles. The shot of the stands shows his father shaking his head "no" thinking it was probably an error. C'mon, Poppa jeter, you should know that the press will always help out your son.
  9. Whoa! Moose is struggling with these bums. 51 pitches in 2 innings. Your Rock is getting rocked.
  10. Of the three places, Boston has something the other two places cannot offer. If he finishes his career in Boston and goes out on a high note with a Championship, there will be an overwhelming rise in sentimentality in Red Sox Nation. That will equate to tremendous economic opportunities in New England throughout his retirement. His name does not carry the same cache as it does in New England. That is just a fact. Once he retires, the only business asset he will have will be his good name. Roger is no dummy.
  11. Do we want to get to the point where every square inch is an advertisement? Would we want players uniforms looking like something from NASCAR?
  12. No relevance. I was just joking. Go to the tape if you have it taped. I'm not the only one on these boards that heard it. It went something like this: Leiter: "I think I'd give him a 'B'". Kay: (Derisively) "A 'B'?" Slight chuckling from Singleton. Leiter: "What? A 'B+' ... maybe? Kay: That's very generous. Now , I may not have the conversation verbatim, but I believe that I have captured the essence.
  13. Correction: They are 0 for this millennium.
  14. I know. WTF is that about?:dunno:
  15. But he wasn't setting up anything. He just threw strikes and eventually they got themeselves out.
  16. Not only isn't it broke, but right now the have a slam dunk when they get to the 9th. That is invaluable as the Yankees have demonstrated for years with Mo. They'll have to make some other arrangements to bolster the starting corps. Maybe it'll be Hansen. Foulke has always wanted to start, but they would probably never consider it.
  17. As long as the kid keeps pumping strikes he'll be walking off the mound in triumph.
  18. Just keep throwing strikes kid.
  19. Nice catch by Hollins to end the inning.
  20. He gets a save whether they score or not.
  21. He didn't have a chance on that splitter.
  22. What a baserunning rock by Crawford only getting to 2B on a ball of the CF wall
  23. Are they going with the formula: Foulke, Timlin, Papelbon
