  1. The good news tonight is that the Yankees have been shut down by a rookie for his first ML win. Thuuuuhhhhh Yankees lose! Thuuuhhhh Yankees lose!
  2. Wickman looks like he is going to s*** the bed. Edit: There is something wrong with his back leg on the follow thru. He looks gimpy.
  3. Tek managed 4 foul balls while striking out four times.
  4. It's very difficult to be patient when you can't recognize the slider out of his hand. If you let him get to two strikes, he'll put you away with the slider. The only chance they had was trying to get a hittable pitch early in the count.
  5. Kazmir had tek's # tonight. Did he make any contact at all. I don't remember much in the way of foul balls.
  6. Good job by Lopez...not.
  7. Here's the lefty submariner.
  8. You can't touch this vkid tonight.
  9. They have power and they can hit fastballs that are right over the middle.
  10. When Kaz has his slider working, he is damn near impossible for righties to hit. It dives down and in at the hitter's kneecaps.
  11. Stay home and take a rest.
  12. Building for the future is nice, but the future is so uncertain. Grab for the ring that is within reach now. Once the Championship banner goes up, it's there forever. The future can become the present and then the past very quickly with nothing to show for it.
  13. Willie Randolph needs to go to a remedial course for managing.
  14. Maybe he thought he had been peaking.
  15. We've got plenty of hitting, but he would not be a bad lefty backup at first. I would be happy to finally say goodbye to Willie Harris POS.
  16. Lester is going to have to get more efficient and go deeper into games. Expecting 4 innings from the pen each time out is too much. Right now he is the #4 starter. The #5 slot is a disaster and they use a lot of pen on those days. IMO they need to pick up someone who can fill the 3 slot pushing Lester to the #5.
  17. Hopefully, Lester will settle down and throw strikes more consistently, so he can go past the 5th inning.
  18. 5.25 ERA for Johnson on July 1st---not a good sign for the Yankees. I think the predictions of a big 2nd half will not come to fruition. I think that when he returns to pitching to AL East teams it's more likely that his performance will deteriorate.
  19. If the Detroit FO is smart, they would realize that Smoltz probably doesn't put them over the top as a favorite to win the WS. That alone might convince them not to part with too much young talent. The Tiger FO has not shown a tendency towards a win-it-now mentality. For them to part with a boat-load of young talent would be more contrary to their management philosophy than it would be for the Boston FO.
  20. We see eye to eye on this one. Let's hope the FO is of the same mind.
  21. Hate might be a little strong. Afterall, he is just a marginal major leaguer who will disappear from the majors in a few seasons. If I were you I would hate that the Yankees' FO seems to have a high opinion of this bush leaguer.
  22. If no other team wants top part with that caliber of prospect for Smoltz, the Sox might be able to get him for less. Also, don't forget that the Braves would probably like to free themselves from Smoltz's contract. They could put that $ to use in their rebuilding process. The fact is that none of us has any idea what other teams would be willing to trade for Smoltz. Assuming the other teams are not being run by complete *******s, the Sox should be able and willing to bid competitively.
  23. Agreed, but the answer is not Josh Johnson. I believe the answer is a move to bring in an impact pitcher like Smoltz.
  24. Well, if you want to be lazy about it, you shouldn't make accusations. I challenge anyone on these boards to research my threads to find posts bashing Schilling, Loretta, Lowell or even Foulke. I only bash the guys I noted earlier. Schilling is God. I've always liked Loretta although he has below average speed and range, and I love Lowell, whose only shortcoming is a lack of speed. You should either back up your accusation or retract. That would be the big thing to do.
