  1. If Sauerbeck comes in, he should be greeted with sirens and flashing red lights.
  2. He'd be a fool to throw anything over the dish to Manny.
  3. He'd be a fool to throw anything over the dish for Ortiz.
  4. Nice tape job on Crisp's finger.
  5. Coco's gotta be going. Edit: on this pitch.
  6. After his contract is up after 2007, I wouldn't think Lowell would be re-signed by the Red Sox.
  7. You end up blowing the pen in both slots. There's no choice. You throw the good guys on the days Lester pitches and the mopup guys pitch the next day probably for at least 4 innings. 8 innings in 2 days puts a terrible strain on the bullpen. They have to shore up the rotation with a guy who can eat innings.
  8. He's doing fine right now for a #5 starter, but the Sox need to go out and get someone with experience to work deep into games. They can't afford to continue to burn up the pen with the 4th and 5th starters while forfeiting the games by the 5th starter
  9. Not if Pena is the first baseman
  10. The guy's 83 and loves to play the game. My hat is off to him. I'm 47, play in 2 softball leagues and by the end of the season my legs are aching. It took a lot of balls for an 83 yr. old to hang in against a young kid throwing over 80.
  11. Villone a comeback player? Don't you had to have been good once to win a comebacl award? Best catch should go to the play where Melky took out Damon for an inside the park homer. Best Glove: Phillips? Pathetic
  12. Whatever those cans cost, they are worth it.
  13. This is why Jeter can't be criticized, and why he is still playing SS. It's because of all the latent homo Yankee fans with their subconscious man-crushes on their matinee idol. You're like a bunch of giggly girls and you make me sick. Your manager head up the Jeter-Man-Crush fan club, otherwise he'd be playing second base, and ARod wouldn't be out of position at 3rd.
  14. I've been waiting to celebrate the day that Harris gets DFA'd.
  15. s***! I'll be at that game. When I was in Fla. I got to see jason Johnson. I am sick of seeing these human forfeit pitchers. Theo do something...please!
  16. Selig can kiss Manny's ass. Everyone around the league and the writers beat up on him for styling on his HRs and not hustling, but now they are all bitching and moaning that he should be on display at the All Star game. They can all kiss the future Hall of Famer's ass.
  17. I think Wily Mo will eventually be the starting first baseman, and Youk will move back to 3rd.
  18. Sometimes stats don't tell the whole story. In one game, I witnessed Hoss play back for the double play and come home too late for the guy on 3rd, and later in the game with the infield in, he went for the DP and the go ahead run scored. He was one of the dumber players I have seen.
  19. Duh, that's exactly what he should be saying. He doesn't want the other GMs knowing that he is desperate like he was last year. All the GMs will be touting the same line about not making any major moves, because last year they pursued pitching at the deadline so hard that they drove the price out of sight. I really don't care what Theo says for public consumption. He needs to get a real major leaguer in the rotation. If he doesn't and they continue to give away every 5th game, they will be overtaken by the Yanks and this $130 million dollar payroll will watch the post-season from their couches.
  20. Honorable mention has to go to: Horace Clarke at 2B Mike Greenwell OF
  21. That's my pick. It was the most exciting game that I have seen in person since Ortiz walkoff homer on Easter Sunday 2004.
  22. MVP-- Ortiz Comeback Pitcher--Schilling Comeback Position Player-- Cy Young--Papelbon Best Glove --Gonzalez Best Catch--Crisp vs. Mets Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher --Clement/Foulke Biggest Disappointment of a Position Player --Varitek
  23. Thhuuuhhhhhh Yankeeeeess Looooooosssssseeee! Thhuuuhhhhhh Yankeeeeess Looooooosssssseeee!
