  1. For a sinkerballer JJ a lot of balls are being hit to the outfield. When Wang throws his sinker, it almost never leaves the IF.
  2. I think you would risk hurting the kid. This is his first full year at 162 games, and he'll be making more appearances this year than he has in his young career. I really wouldn't push him too hard and risk damaging him for the future.
  3. Heart stopping play from Pena. He took a weird route to the ball and had to reach way up to snare that ball.
  4. He didn't get the runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.
  5. white Sox and Yankees are ahead in their games. The Red Sox need to win this game. The Yankees and White Sox play each other during the week while the Red Sox play KC. We need to pick up ground on them.
  6. No, pictchers with .377 lifetime winning %'s don't usually turn a corner after 150 decisions.
  7. I don't think hansen will go down. They'll just have Javy catch for two ro three games untill Belli is healthy.
  8. They are looking at Youks hand. I hope he is okay.
  9. Youk levels the catcher and two runs score. very impressive. A collision with Wily mo would really have been interesting.
  10. No hits in the bottom five of the lineup makes it hard for this team to win. This is turning out to be a more typical Red Sox team than anyone had suspected at the beginning of the season. While their defense is great, the pitching, with the exception of Schilling and Papelbon, is so poor that this team has to bludgeon its opponents to win.
  11. Yeah thanks Theo for Jason Johnson and the 0-3 record so far. Tomorrow will probably be painful watching the sinker-baller giving up rocket shot grounders through the infield on the artificial turf. We could lose one or two more infielders to injury if the get in front of those rockets.
  12. The Red Sozx are in the weakest part of their schedule for the next 7 games. Tomorrow is a big, big game following up on this loss. We have the biggest losing starting pitcher of all time going for us. That is a disgrace pure and simple. Having this guy in the rotation for a key game 109 games into the season is an indictment of the FO. He is not a so-so pitcher or even a bad pitcher. He's the worst pitcher. I'd give anything to see Frank Castillo take the mound tomorrow.
  13. Rice is talking about how Wells was getting squeezed. That's what I was thinking.
  14. They are not going to perform at this level forever. It is historic, because no duo has done what they have done for 1 year, never mind 3 years in a row. These are precious years that will go by without Championships. Guys like this can't be replace. No FA could replace Manny. I've been watching Red Sox baseball for 39 years, and I can tell you that we you are lucky to see one hitter like this on the Sox in each generation. BTW We are behind in the wild card race by a game in the loss column and we have Jason "lifetime .377 Winning %" Johnson pitching tomorrow and Contreras is going for the White Sox. We have a great chance of falling further behind in both standings.
  15. I am so glad that we picked up this loser. First pitch double play.
  16. Manny and Ortiz are insane...record setting. We are witnessing historic achievements while these two are together. It's unfortunate that the putzes in the FO are "retooling" while we have these guys. We should be going for it all while we have them. I guess we will be done re-tooling when they are gone and we have a pop-gun offense like we did with the Darren Lewis teams.
  17. I don't buy into not making the playoffs with a $120 million payroll.
  18. Gotta love those young arms. Never trade them even if they haven't proved that they can play at this level. Edti: Don't look now, but both Tavarez and seanez have much better ERA's than Hansen. Hansen is closest to Tavarez and Hansen's ERA is half a run higher.
  19. Javy is not delivering any offense yet.
  20. Manny being Manny with the HR blast.
  21. That should keep the defense honest.
  22. Any word on Foulke's rehab outing today?
  23. A scoreless inning by Tavarez.
  24. That was as good a Double Play turn on Crawford as you will ever see.
