  1. Way to go Timlin! He pitched him so touigh. HE just didn't give in.
  2. We can't afford to lose this game, but I am afraid...
  3. Pedro wins his 9th tonight against San Diego going 7 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits bringing his record to 9-4. His winning % this year has slipped to .692.
  4. We are being set up for disappointment again tonight.
  5. Thanks for the info. Very interesting.
  6. Which also coincided with the appointment of Kerrigan as the manager. That might have been just as big a factor as Tek going down.
  7. It certainly didn't help, but my recollection is that they remained competitive as Nomar was out. Pedro also acknowledged the devastating effect of Tek's injury on the pitching staff.
  8. You seriously should look into taking a vocabulary building course.
  9. I am always reading about the great farm system that we have that it is stocked with young talent, but when other teams make moves I'm informed that they could part with their prospects because they have a much better farm system. Do we have a really good, deep farm system or not? Where does it rank with other teams?
  10. The last time Varitek was on the DL with a broken elbow in 2001, the team went from contention to a fast spiral out of contention. He means so much to the pitchers game prep and calling the game.
  11. Welcome Pesky. I also live in the heart of enemy territory.
  12. I have a more important question. Do we have any major league pitchers for the 3rd, 4th and 5th slots in the rotation? I am too tired to do the research, but what is the combined W-L record of our 3rd, 4th and 5th pitchers? Wakefield was 7-8, and I don't think it gets much better from there.
  13. The Dodgers who were floundering before the trading deadline and looked dead have been rivived by FO moves to get Maddux, Bettemit, and Lugo. They have run off 10 wins in a row and picked up 7 games in the Wild Card race which they trail by only 1/2 game and they picked up 6 games on SD to trail the division by only 1 game. Somehow they were able to make these moves without mortgaging their future. How'd they do that? Edit: They are ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the 8th in theirbid for 11 in a row. We might be watching Nomar, Pedro, Lowe and Damon in the Playoffs.
  14. I've been very down and very negative about the pathetic efforts over the weekend and tonight, but there is cause for optimism. I heard that that pompous ass idiot Michael Kay has declared the Red Sox dead. The last time he did something like that was in 2004. I heard him on the radio pre-game show with Trupe (I think), before the Sox went on its winning streak. He categorically stated that the Yankees were not at all concerned with or afraid of the Red Sox. Well we stuck it up his ass that year. I love how he tell the story how he got physically ill watching the Red Sox with "their beard and long hair" celebrate on the Yankee Stadium field. I hope we make that condescending prick hurl all over the booth this year.
  15. Thuuuhhhh Yankeees Loooose!!! Thuhhhhhhhh Yankees Looooose!!!!
  16. I'm with you. Even if we get knocked out in the first round, at least we will have blocked the Yankees from #27..
  17. The pitchers neeed to be blowing away KC's lineup. Starters can't burn themselves out by the 5th so we have to keep getting 4 innings from the pen. With our inconsistent pen, going to the pen for 4 innings neutralize our talent advantage over these teams.
  18. As bad as this team seems,it could've been worse. Today on WEEI they were talking about how the word isw that Theo was opposed to the Beckett deal. As inconsistent as he has been, where would we have been without Beckett's 13 wins and Lowell?
  19. What do we expect. Our best #5 starter in the last 2 months was DFA'd by the Royals. We've also been using the pitcher with the worst winning % in baseball history. And we are forced to use a 22 year old in the # 3 slot. It's like a third world rotation.
  20. He hung the slider. Manny wasn't lookimng for it.
  21. The night could be worthwhile if the Sox could snap out of this and win and the Yankees -White Sox play 18 innings and burn their pens and the Yankess lose.
  22. We need a KC bullpen meltdown.
  23. Posada just threw out another base stealer. Teams keep runningt on him. It's f***ing ridiculous.
