    Without Loretta getting on in front of manny and Ortiz, pitchers will work around them completely and the offense will go into total shutdown mode.

    You guys brought in seasoned reinforcements and major league ready prospects not just at the deadline, but all throughout the season. When the Sox needed help, they went trolling for garbage and they are getting what they deserve.

    Has Papelbon's chariot turned into a pumpkin? SUnday he gives up a tying HR to a piece of garbage. Tonight he gives up a big triple and a double. Are teams starting to figure him out? Is he getting tired and losing a little somethig? or is it poor pitch selction without Tek behind the plate?

    Teams do go into hitting slumps, but that's when the pitching on good teams step up. We don't have the horses on the hill. It's just that simple. That's the major reason why the Sox cannot get back into this thing.

    This has to be the lowest point in years for the Sox. Although they are not as bad as they have looked for the last week, I don't see them going on a winning streak to get them to the playoffs. In 2004 when they went on the winning streak, the starters went deep into games 7th inning and later during the entire streak. The key to that streak was good starting pitching. This team doesn't even have a reliable #2 that can regularly take the game into the late innings. The 3,4, and 5 slots give us 5 innings at best. Thanks for the starter Theo.

    His career winning percentage indicates that he should have a game like that 3 out of every ten starts. It would be a tremendous consolation to block the Yankees and their $230 million payroll from the playoffs.

    It just seems that we never throw out a baserunner. I think Benjie Molina could steal against us. Posada is throwing out legit base stealing threats every night.
