  1. Yeah, I did. Did you? 22 consecutive scoreless innings by the lineup against Kenny rogers and two other guys that the Yankees light up on a regular basis. If the offense had performed up to their abilities, they would have won game 2, and game 3 should have at least been close. Please don't tell me that Kenny Rogers is better than Randy Johnson. EDIT: Bonderman was 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA against the yankees in 2006 Verlander was 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA against the Yankees 5 innings 7 Hits 6 ER Rogers was 5-7 with a 6.45 ERA against the yankees over his career Based on these numbers, it seems to me that your lineup just choked.
  2. Your team choked. It had nothing to do with pitching. For crying out loud, since when has Kenny Rogers (a choker in his own right) become Sandy Koufax.
  3. Yeah, the last time that I looked they pick at least two guys at each position. Maybe Loretta wasn't the best second baseman in the league, but he was one of the top secondbaseman and deserving of an All Star selection.
  4. I'll give Crisp a pass on his offensive performance because of his finger, but he is not a good CF. He consistently breaks late or the wrong way on balls negating the advantage of his speed. Damon is a far superior CF er.
  5. So, Loretta would have been the back up. He was still one of the top guys at his position. Pointing out that Cano might be better does not diminish Loretta. He still would have made the All Star team. BTW In only 118 games, Cano had 9 errors, while Loretta had 4 in 146 games.
  6. I am not addressing in my post whether the Damon 4 year contract will be a good one. I was only addressing the fact that the FO got outmaneuvered by the Yankee FO and shutout of the negotiations. Four years $52 million might have been more than the sox were willing to go, but they might have considered some counter-offer if they had the opportunity to keep him from going to they Yankees. Cashman foreclosed all possibilities of a counter-offer. My post was addressing Cashman's skill vs. Theo's. The focus was not on whether Johnny D's contract was good or not. For that, only time will tell. As for back-tracking on the Pedro contract, I am not doing that at all, because the FO didn't do anything worthwhile with the savings. They threw the money away on Clement, Renteria among other cheaper duds. They should have gotten more for the $17 million/year that they saved on Pedro.
  7. Because the Red Sox had no other representative on the All Star team?
  8. When your team rips your heart out with the latest in their line of post season chokes,....well, hopefully the weather is good.
  9. Jeter's lack of support for ARod spoke volumes. As the Captain, he should have lent him some support if only in the press. Some in the press felt that he was privately delighting in ARod's floundering. It was so obvious that Yankee fans on this site mentioned that on Yankee sites their were opposing camps: pro-jeter, and pro-ARod. The icon acted in a petty manner.
  10. OPS is not the best measure for a # 2 hitter. OBP, low k ratio, pitches/AB are more important measures in front of Ortiza and Manny. We don't need Pedroia swinging for the fences.
  11. He's outsmarted our FO on a number of occasions. The most prominent example was the Johnny Damon fiasco. The Red Sox thought they would have a right of first refusal if Damon got any other offers, but Cashman put Damon and his agent in a corner by giving them a take it or leave it proposal and they effectively shut the Red Sox out of any possibility of a counter-offer. They also shut out the Red Sox from making a counter offer on Abreu and they landed themselves a #3 hitter at the trading deadline. We need a RF going into next year, and Abreu would have fit the bill quite nicely. He is a good fielder, base runner and hitter that would have filled our need for a #5 hitter. The FO put out that cover story that in order to pay Abreu his $17 million it would have cost $27 million to cover for the fact that Cashman had outmaneuvered them again. We need a #5 hitter. What do we think Soriano, Lee or Sheffield will cost? They will not be much cheaper than $17 million a year and they will want a 4 year commitment. Abreu would have been a one year deal. Also, he is a much more patient hitter than the others as well as a better fielder and base runner. Look at the young players that have become stars Wang and Cano. I don't think these guys went through the draft process. Cashman deserves full credit for bringing them in. When the Yankees need to fill a hole, he finds a way to fill it, and it doesn't always cost a load of $. Brian Bruney, Tanyon Sturtze, Aaron Small, Shawn Chacon and yes even Al Leiter were inexpensive acquisitions that made great contributions to the Yankees over the last few years. What has our FO done? Wade Miller, Jason Johnson and...?
  12. The Choking Yankees, who have made a habit of gagging in the post season.
  13. It's working now.
  14. The Tiger series makes the Yankee-haters Bliss list at #9. We all know what #1 is. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=list/yankeehaters/061008 BTW: Where are all the Yankee fans today. Please come out to play Optimist, 26 to 6, 26 Reasons to Hate Us, and Papelboner
  15. Manny wants out and we would get younger with ARod and it is as close to replacing Manny's bat as you can get, but it ain't ever going to happen.
  16. ...or maybe Steinbrenner fires Cashman and Luchino hires him. I would n't mind seeing that. I am not advocating firing Theo, but Cashman is the PH.D. Professor and Theo is an undergraduate. If he were to become available and the Sox were to grab him, I would not be unhappy.
  17. The Boss weighs in calling the Yankees loss a "sad failure." http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6041500
  18. I am having issues with it. Only the "new post" button works. I can't navigate around the site.
  19. Matsui in right? His arm is only slightly stronger than Damon's. Teams would go first to third like crazy.
