  1. The whole league adjustment league is completely overblown. Yes it affects ERA, because the AL has a DH. It shouldn't affect wins. When an NL pither switches to the AL, it's not like the other pitchers aren't also pitching to DH's. They are on a level playing field with pitchers in their own league. Are you assuming that AL pitching is superior to NL pitching? If so, on what are you basing that conclusion?
  2. Underdogs don't choke, unless they blow a big lead. They are expected to lose. The Tigers were favored against the A's, and the A's are getting trounced like the odds makers expected. If they were blowing big leads it would be a different story. The Yankees were favorites to win it all. They choked.
  3. LOwell doesn't sit unless Aramis Ramirez signs. One of the other three would sit. Youklis slugging % isn't justified at 1B.
  4. Keep the left-side defense and get a good #5 hitter for the lineup and they'll score 900 runs again.
  5. He'd look pretty good in a Red Sox uniform. I'll take a 28 year old guy with 7 years AL experience with a 3.54 ERA. He would be a tremendous addition.
  6. It's a low risk Money move, but a high risk roster move. It was a long shot that either of these guys could have contributed. I would rather they had gone in a different direction and signed two healthy pitchers. These moves (Miller and Mantei) were high risk, and the Sox lost where it was really important-- the standings. The only thing they didn't lose was a lot of money.
  7. Wade Miller and Matei may not have cost a lot, but they gave us nothing, so any money that they were paid was wasted. If the Sox didn't waste their time and roster spots on these bums, maybe they would have signed a couple of healthy pitchers for more $ that would have helped the 2005 squad.
  8. Beckett pitched one year in the AL and managed to win 16 games, one more win than his previous high. Wright never won 15 games in the AL and he never won 16 in any season in either league.
  9. Welcome to TalkSox.
  10. Nothing would disturb Yankee fans more than the Mets winning the WS. They think they are the kings of NY and the center of the baseball universe. If the Mets displace them in their own town, they would be miserable. Let's go Mets.
  11. There's no way the team could afford to play him in the second half. His injury saved him from the embarrassment of getting benched.
  12. JAret Wright 10 seasons 68 wins 5.07 ERA. Beckett 6 seasons 57 wins 3.82 ERA Beckett achieved career highs in wins over the last two years. How many times has Wright won 15 or more games?
  13. Exactly, Walker was a butcher in the field. Bellhorn's 2004 offensive season was a complete fluke. Look at the rest of his career. Loretta had a below average season for him. Prior to his injury, his numbers had been better, but this years #'s were nothing to sneeze at. OPS is not the most meaningful stat for a #2 hitter in front of Manny and Ortiz.
  14. Because they counted to 100 and to 1000 by beginning with the #1? Yes, that is very retarded.
  15. By having your players crash themselves into buildings in planes? What's your point?
  16. In 2006 rotation he would have been our #3 starter. He would have won between 10-15 games with a 4.25-4.50 ERA. Thatis what he was when he left the AL and there's no reason to believe that he wouldn't have remained at that level.
  17. Papelboner, Here's some information for you about calendars and the millenium. http://www.ortelius.de/kalender/idx_en.html The Yankees have no chmpionships in the 3rd millenium or the 21st century, because both started in 2001 just about the time the Yankees started their Choke streak.
  18. It's time for a change. Joe had a great run, but I am not sure that Piniella is the answer. In the short term ARod and Johnson might be more comfortable.
