Find a post where I have ever criticized the Yankees for destroying their farm system. I am on record in numerous posts praising Cashman for the Abreu robbery and the Craig Wilson deal. Red Sox fan on these boards got annoyed at me and told me to go root for the Yankees. Optimist, if you are going to take a shot, please know what you are talking about instead of just s***ing up the board.

There you go again. Manny and Wily Mo in the same sentence. Go rub your hands down with some anti-bacterial gel. A hitter like Manny comes along once in 10 years. Pujols is the new Manny, not Wily Mo. Wily Mo is not even the new Mo Vaughn.

I liked the trade when it happened, but after seeing Wiy Mo in 2006, I am concerned. If the Sox FO is looking at Drew, maybe they are concerned about him, or maybe they are thinking of moving Manny. It's got to be one or the other. If they are moving Manny, Drew cannot possibly replace him. If they move Manny, they need to get Soriano. Wily Mo is not as good a fielder as Manny, and please don't mention his offense in the same post with Manny's offense. Now, go slap your hands for typing this: We overlook things with Manny, because he's an insane hitter. Didn't he hit .600+ or something like that against the Yankees this year. He can take the best pitchers in the game deep, including Mo. When Wily Mo can do those things, he can sit on the OF grass and pick daisies.

I don't think Jaret Wright is a great pitcher, and I did n't think he would be staying with the Yankees in 2007. They dumped him and they got what they could for him. Bravo. They gave up a pitcher with 11 wins for a guy that blew 3 of his 4 save opportunities and had the following stats against the Red Sox: Situation IP W L ERA SV BB SO vs Boston 5.0 0 0 7.20 0 3 6 at Fenway Park 2.0 0 0 18.00 0 2 3 I am pretty comfortable with those stats, and I'm not going to break into a sweat when I see him on the mound. I'll probably be very glad to see him on the mound. Here's Wrights's stats against the Red Sox: Category W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO INN H R ER HR HBP BB SO AVG vs. Bos. 1 1 3.18 4 3 0 0 0 0 17.0 17 6 6 2 1 7 7 .258 Not too shabby. Let's not be ready to give Cashman the Executive of the year for shedding salary with Sheffield and Wright. Abreu and Lidle for 3 bags of s***---that was a raping. Praise him for that, but not for these two moves, which are just freeing up finances for his impact moves.

Will Britton pitch in the majors this year? Will he be anything more than a body. Will he have 11 wins with a 4.50 ERA. Oh, and Jaret Wright is 30 years old, and he gave up only 10 HRs in 140 IP. Only Wang gave up HRs less frequently.

Check my posts. I said that Sheffield would not want to go and would be a clubhouse cancer if...ifhe didn't get an extension. The extension is what made the deal possible. But I wouldn't count on these prospects ever being big contributors. You are underestimating Dombrowski.

Keep your false hopes alive. The rumor is too prominent. It would be too embarrassing for ESPN if they are wrong on this. Someone would have tipped ESPN off that the rumor was false. MLB doesn't want one of its major business partners to be embarrassed.

Personally, I voted to get Soriano. Errors mean nothing. It's not an error if the ball gets by you and rolls around the OF corner for a triple. It's not an error if a pop up hits fair by the Pesky pole and bounces into the stands for a double that should have been an out. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights out there. He was so bad that the coaching staff criticized his work ethic in the field. As for his hitting, I will wait for him to make some consistent contact against above average pitchers before I bat him any higher than 7th.

Of course the logical conclusion from this is that the Yankees will have 2 pups like Hughes and Sanchez to go with Wang in the starting rotation. Yes, those are the Yankees that I know. They always have 3 starters averaging age 25 in their rotation.

I edited my post to include a link to his '06 stats. Several arms on the Yankee staff will have to explode for him to log 50 innings by the end of '08.

The Yankees picked up his option purely to keep him from the Red Sox. They didn't care what they got. None of these guys will help the Yankees in 2007 and maybe...maybe Sanchez gets a cup of coffee in 2008 if they get some injuries. They will hope anyone of these guys pans out. If not they will use them as trading chips at the deadline. Detroit's Dombrowski wasn't going to give up big time talent for a 38 year old broken down outfielder with a $14 million/year price tag. Yankee fans look at that glass again. It's half empty.
