  1. I agree, but this assumes that they keep Manny.
  2. It would be a special 3,4,5 of Manny, Ortiz and Bonds. It would be difficult to pitch around all three of them.
  3. Matsui's injury was a break, which is not as serious as tendon and ligament surgery.
  4. What about inviting Bagwell to camp now that his Astro contract is up?
  5. Rehabbing for what his next injury... perhaps a twisted testicle this time.
  6. Sox offered Damon $10 million. Plus, he is a different type of player than Sheffield but every bit as valuable. Damon is a CF and a damn good fly catcher with a bad arm. He's a leadoff hitter with speed that is a catylyst for offenses. It's apples and oranges. Also, Damon was not coming off a major surgery at age 38.
  7. It is funny how guys in the last year of their contracts find miraculous cures for their conditions. I would n't be surprised to see him play 120-130 games in '07 and put up some nice #'s.
  8. The red Sox should have taken advantage of this one-sided trade when they had the chance.
  9. We'll both have to wait and see.
  10. I said that he is not as good as millar. I didn't say that he is as good as Millar was. He's not much better than Millar is now. I also said that our docs would have to ive the go ahead on Sweeney. Are you a doctor? If he is that messed up, I would hope our docs would give the thumbs down. When healthy this guy is an offensive force. I am not a doctor, so I can't speak with authority as to the state of his health, and neither can you.
  11. Agreed. That's why you'd get more trade value for him.
  12. Brandon Inge is faster than Youklis and he has a gun for an arm. He hit 13 Hrs in his first full year in 150 less ABs than Youklis in '06. That would project out to 18 HRs at Youkils # of ABs. Is that a valid comparison? If Youk like Inge improves his HR/AB ratio by 30%, he'd be an 18 HR/yr guy. Big whoop.
  13. Sure we would have taken him as a FA. There are several teams that would be interested in him as a FA. If he signs with a team as a FA, presumably he would want to play for them, eliminating the attitude issue. Now that attitude issue is out there front and center, plus it will cost a team more than $ to get the unhappy prick, because the Yankees want to get a player(s) in return. The whole risk-reward analysis has been changed drastically. My opinion is that he stays with the Yankees in '07 or they have to give him away and eat a lot of salary to get an A level prospect. I think Cashman made a blunder here. If this was done solely to keep him from the Red Sox, I would suggest that Cashman put his efforts and cash to more constructive use for his team.
  14. But what are you controlling ... ? He's not that good. He's not as good as Kevin Millar was in his best days.
  15. Why should a GM take that kind of risk? He found a number of jobs after Milwaukee. He has always been an ass, and he has always found a job. If he acts like an ass in '07 but he can still hit, he'll find a team in the FA market. In the meantime, the GM that traded talent to pay this disruptive ass $13 million would live to regret it.
  16. This is a guy that has admitted to deliberately making errors in Milwaukee because he wanted out. In 2005, he threatened any prospective trading partner that they would n't be happy if they got him in a trade. You don't think this type of behavior gives GMs concerns?
  17. I care or I would not have asked. He's a great hitter. If he is a one year commitment, and our docs think his back can hold up for a year, KC might give him away. The guy is a great hitter. If we could get 120 games from him, he'd be better than a full year of Youk at first.
  18. Ervin Santana is not Johan. He's not a stud yet.
