  1. ORS, have you seen very much of this kid in person? He can't run a lick. His range is not going to be what you think it is going to be. He has neither footspeed or good footwork. That translates to limited range. You'll be screaming about him by the end of May.
  2. Very funny. My prediction will come true though.
  3. I want this kid to succeed. I really wish I could see in him what you guys think about him. IMO it's just not there. He's average, at best, in every aspect of his game. His range is not that great either, so most of those balls will still go through the first/second base hole. His additional errors will hurt. Make no mistake about it.
  4. Will he start his crying again. I think Leyland and Vermeil should start some sort of weepy coaches support group. They turn my stomach. Torre has become weepy in the last few years too.
  5. Most of the other guys have pretty good ML track records. His ML average is .191. I am a bit more concerned about Pedroia who just k'd.
  6. Just stupid stuff for ST. Beckett is not throwing at anyone in ST. Todd was being an ass.
  7. His bat wasn't slow last year in ST. His problem was recognizing the off-speed pitches.
  8. Remember my prediction. Pedroia will have more errors by the All Star break than Loretta had all of 2006. Pedroia's hands are not as good as Loretta's. The kid is strictly average at best.
  9. The bull pen has more problems. Timlin is still hurting. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6552340
  10. It is a close call offensively, but defensively Pedroia is by no stretch better than Loretta by the margin that Gonzo is better than Lugo. Part of the reason why balls went through the first/second base hole was because Youklis doesn't have much range. Offensively, the infield was weak last year and it will not be much better this year, if at all.
  11. Three runs allowed be Hansen on 3 hitts and a walk in his first outing. It could have been worse had it not been for the DP. Well, at least MDC had a good outing. Trade him before he wrecks his trade value.
  12. I think you are getting ahead of yourself. Two of the guys have never started in the majors over the course of a full season, so there is hope but no track record by which to judge. Beckett had a disappointing year last year, and while we are hoping he will turn himself around, we just don't know. Schilling is 40 and trying new pitches, and the knuckleballer is always a crap shoot. There are a number of "ifs" in this rotation. Going into the season, Detroit has a much more accomplished and reliable starting staff. They also have a strong pen and Boston's pen is very weak. Don't set yourself up for a big disappointment. Also, the IF is weaker this season from a defensive perspective, and it is about the same as it was last year offensively. The FO still has a lot of work to do to make this into a team built for October.
  13. The adjustment to LF in Fenway should not be a problem for a fielder of Drew's caliber.
  14. I think Bob Stanley had a better sinker.
  15. Good choice, but I remember when I was a kid I had this book that illustrated Spahn's pickoff move. It showed frame by fram how his motion to the plate and to first base was identical up to the final moment.
  16. Has anyone mentioned pickoff moves. I'd have to go with Warren Spahn on that.
  17. I thought we found out everyone's true age after 911... except for El Duque's
  18. Why would getting Ichiro necessitate keeping Ellsbury in the minors for three years? We only have Manny for one more year. After that, Drew could move to LF, Ichiro to RF and Ellsbury to CF.
