  1. Also curious about the # of HRs hit by Wily Mo after his return from surgery last year. He has n't hit any this Spring. Ortiz had the same surgery years ago, and he said that it took a full year to get his power back.
  2. I am just curious why the ML pitchers are pitching against minor leaguers more often than major leaguers. It's not just because of the travel, because Wakefield pitched against bushers yesterday when the team was in Ft. Myers. Is it because they don't want the ML teams getting too many looks at them? I remember in 2004, Schilling made a point of not facing AL East teams in ST. He was very successful that year, and I've noticed it being done more often the past two ST's.
  3. Youklis is painfully slow. He hits a ball into the SS hole-- not hit hard at all. Granted Tejada has a gun, but he was 25 feet from first base when the first basemen caught the ball.
  4. Welcome to TalkSox.
  5. Pavano looked like crap. He and Igawa are a little scary at the back end of the Yankee rotation.
  6. Good job by Piniero working out of the 1st and 3rd jam.
  7. ...and his elbow should hold up until June 1st:lol:
  8. This guy has been stinking up the joint so far.
  9. Papi lost that weight and his power has gone with it.
  10. Piniero seems to be getting his act together as the Spring goes on.
  11. Just a thought. We've had a lot of debate about whether Papelbon shoud be moved back to the closer role. We have been assuming that the reason for the move would be that the bullpen would be too weak without him. Another factor for consideartion could be that Papelbon might not be more than an average starter. I am hopeful and expect that he will be better than average, but I don't think he will be a top 5 starter in the AL like he was as a closer.
  12. Moss is not much of a fielder. Every ball that I have seen hit to him this Spring he has played poorly.
  13. I saw that Ellsbury played for the Red Sox yesterday. I though he got sent down about a week ago.
  14. Yeah RSR. Hate the post, not the poster. It's irrational to hate someone you don't even know.
  15. Your meds. Don't forget your meds.
  16. Yes, he was, but he eventually played for us when he had nothing left in his tank.
  17. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/03/15/bc.bbo.obit.kuhn.ap/index.html He was 80 years old. He was only 57 when he last served as Commissioner. He seemed older to me. I never forgave him for overturning the Rollie Fingers and Vida Blue sales. A closer was exactly what those Red Sox teams needed. Those of us who remember that Rollie actually dressed in the colors, but never played in them will always ponder what might have been. Bowie also was not at Hammerin Hank's record-breaking game. He was a boob.
  18. He's Heathcliff Slocumb without the talent.
  19. I do. Theo said that they had been looking at him for some time and they were glad to get him before other teams started to notice him, or words to that effect. I thought it was a bit ridiculous that they thought they found this young budding star scooped him up before other teams noticed him. He'd been in the majors for a couple or so years and was playing in plain sight so to speak. Maybe the other teams came to a consensus that he was not going to be that good. Yeah, I think they planned out the replacement of Damon before Damon walked. IMO their strategy was ill-conceived and it back-fired on many levels.
