  1. 70 pitches in three innings. I know he averged 130 pitches in Japan, but realistically, how many pitches do you think Tito will let him throw when the season starts?
  2. ...and that would bother me because...?:dunno:
  3. I forgot what a Theo fanboy you are. Who is pointing out his imperfections. It just doesn't mean much for him to say that a guy has the best stuff of anyone he's drafted. Also, I said I would move Bucholz and or Bowden for a current top of the rotation starter. Only a fool would not with good ML starting pitching being at a premium.
  4. I am listening on the radio so I don't know by how much he is missing. The reports on him are that he has good command. Five walks in 5 innings in his last start and 3 walks in 2 innings today are not not bearing that out.
  5. What's with the walks in his last two starts... big strike zones in Japan?
  6. Two-run single by Pedroia and a homer last night. Good time to get it going.
  7. Bruney is starting to look like a guy that was released by the Diamondbacks.
  8. I am not criticizing the kid. He's just doing his best. Theo's remark just means very little to me. It's not like he's been around for twenty years and drafted guys who became All Star starters. Besides most of what GM's say about their prospects is complimentary so as to inflate their reputations.
  9. I didn't know Papelbon, Beckett and Matsuzaka are 35. I like talented young major league ballplayers. Admittedly, I have little interest in following prospect-- most of whom will never make an impact with the Red Sox. Of the three guys in their 20"s that I like, only one of them came from the Red Sox system. I'd trade Bucholz and Bowden to get a front line established starter like Santana, Oswalt, Halladay, etc. To me that is a no brainer. Even if one of the kids becomes a star, we would be getting an All Star in return.
  10. None of whom have made it to the major league starting rotation, so it's not a high bar to cross.
  11. That Jackass Mazzilli was the first one to complain to the league in 2004 towards the end of the year when the Orioles were all but eliminated. Pesky got banned from the dugout for the rest of the season and pre-season. I was glad when Mazzilli got s***-canned by the Orioles and the Yankees.
  12. ...and it's not like we can bench him until he finds his swing. Mirabelli hit under .200 last season. Most of the season he was around .150. This spring he's at a blistering .121.
  13. Between our two catchers this spring, the higher BA is .121. That is ridiculous. We may have an automatic out in the lineup.
  14. Bucholz seems to be reprenting himself very well after 4 innings. He's throwing lots of quality strikes and he has given up no runs on 3 hits and at least 1 of those was a blooper. In the bottom of the 3rd, Youk showed his lack of 2nd to home speed on Manny's hit. That left the bases loaded and cost a run. In fairness to Youk, I did not see the hit, so I don't know if it was scorched and there was no chance for anyone to score.
  15. That remains to be seen, and if Pedroia doesn't hit, we gave up the best fielding Red Sox SS that I have seen in 40 years for nothing.
