  1. But do we need to see varitek two days in a row against the Yankees?
  2. According to the results of our unanimous poll, we will not be thrilled that varitek will play Saturday and Sunday. Maybe Heidi can take one for the team and have a rough session with Tek throwing out his back. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/08/varitek_to_retu.html
  3. If he doesn't work out, he can just sit on the bench and pitch some garbage innings in September.
  4. I had a big lunch too. Let's go with that as our story, although hating Penny here is okay.
  5. I don't like the plan to catch Varitek twice in a row. I am psyched about tonight's lineup. I am more than a bit nervous about Penny.
  6. Tazawa will probably have a very short leash tomorrow and they need a long man. They can't DL Tek without activating Kottaras. They need two catchers. They'll probably option Fernando Cabrera to the minors.
  7. Yes, I do. Enough of this dead horse already. Let's discuss my pet peeves a little more.
  8. Good point, but when the RedSox cut ties with him, the cowards in the press may take that opportunity to unload on him.
  9. Probably for the same reason why we get upset when Nick green makes an error. Even though we know he sucks , we expect him to suck, and we know it's not his fault that he sucks, we get upset because he hurts our teams chance of winning. When he makes an error, we react negatively. Similarly, when Drew is not in the lineup, it negatively impacts the teams chance of winning. When I log on and see that Brian Anderson is playing, the first words that come out of my mouth are "s*** no Drew." If that's Drew hating, well then I am guilty.
  10. 100% agreement at the risk of being called a Drew hater.
  11. Lots of ranting and really not one coherent point. There's really nothing here to respond to. Talk about ********.
  12. Gee, and I thought he could have stuck as a defensive replacement in the OF. lol!!
  13. I agree with this 100%.
  14. I agree. I've posted it here several times that I have never booed one of our guys. It's not the player's fault that he stinks. When I blame the FO for putting out a substandard product, others insist that the players bear the responsibility. Different viewpoints. What can I tell you. ... and based on his prior performance, a lot of people have the opinion that the Sox overpaid for him. I believe that e that they overpaid, but I am glad that they got him. That may confuse some people. You seem to be confused into thinking that I don't like J.D. I love that he is on the team, but facts are facts, he has a hard time staying on the field. I don't like that. Why must that equate to blame. That's toolish. If my car doesn't start in the morning, I don't like that. Do I blame the car? Do I get mad at the car? Stop putting words in my mouth about J.D. I like him, but his durability is not good. His record bears this out.
  15. See you guys tomorrow. I'm not waiting around for more baiting by J_E who is hoping that I will give him an excuse to spew insults.
  16. Not a smear. It happened according to Tito. People want a guy to be durable. Just because it is not his fault doesn't mean that it isn't a point of criticism. Players that suck don't suck intentionally. They are just not that good. Yet we criticize their play. Durability is an issue of interest to teams that's why players get physical examinations before they sign. Teams want guys that they sign to play the whole season. Would you purchase a car if it had a bad durability rating? As for Ortiz, his advancing age and increasing injuries will certainly affect his value on the open market. It is an issue.
  17. I didn't say he was a pussy. I explained that people knock on him because he misses games. Is the word pussy there? No, it is not.
  18. Some guys are durable. Others are not. It's got nothing to do with macho stupid s***. Some guys like Jeter go to the post everyday. The manager knows that he can count on him day in and day out. The fans who buy tickets know that they will see jeter. The manager never has to beg Jeter to stay in a game because he has no one on the bench to take his place. Why are some guys more durable than others? I don't know. Drew doesn't play any harder than Jeter. He doesn't get hit by more pitches than Jeter, so how do you explain how one guy will play 160 games a year and another guy averages about 120 games a year. I don't know. Do you have an explanation other than one guy is more durable than another? If you do, share.
  19. ... Oh and Yaz wasn't a gamer either. It's just a myth that he signed himself out of a hospital when he was in traction for his back to play a series against the Yankees. That never happened either. I was hallucinating.
  20. I never posted it. J.D. straps it on for 162 each season. The manager has to fight to keep him out of the lineup.
  21. I judge gamers against the standard he set. Judged against the standards Yaz set Drew is delicate and brittle. He's a great player when he plays, but he's delcate and brittle. He has durability issues.
  22. 37 year old Carl Yastrzemski 150 Games Played.
