    He was lucky in 2008. He threw about 160 innings, rarely went more tha 5 innings, the team scored a bundle of runs for him and the bullpen behind him did great. He was a bullpen killer.

    He really has not looked good at all. His stuff is not crisp at all. His fastballs have been below average, and his breaking pitches have been sloppy. I think that he is toast-- a complete waste of money. After the "national treasure" remark from Theo when he signed, I expected a lot more.

    Our pitching is not as deep as we had hoped, Dice k hasn't reached 90 mph today or all spring. If he's toast, so are the Sox, because that will help even out an area where they should have been dominant. He just hit 90 in his second inning of work. Edit: He hit 90 a couple of times. Hopefully, he is still building arm strength.

    The Rangers claimed Ryan Garko off waivers. This should rule out Lowell going to Texas.

    I think maybe he realizes that increasing the Annual Value of his contract from $17 to 19 million would not really affect his life in any significant way. Why bother longer than necessary with uncertainty?

    Schoenweis stinks-- a disaster. When Dice K returns, Schoenweis should get DFA'd. Who will go to the pen when Dice K returns. Although it pains me to say it, Wakefield has looked really good. He has earned the spot in the rotation.

    This is good news. This next offseason they will be able to focus on building the offense as the pitching is pretty well settled.

    Chuck Knoblauch threw a ball into the stands one time that hit Keith Olberman's mother in a game that he was announcing.

    The ball jumps off his bat. That was obvious last spring. The only question is his plate discipline. But of course, I hate all young players.

    After Papelbon and Bard, I'm not that thrilled with the Sox pen. Oki and Ramirez are good, but after them there isn't much. MDC seems to be damaged. He's not throwing very hard. Who will be the other lefty? They all stink. The other righhties: Nelson and Atchinson are not very good.Am I missing anyone?

    Maybe as part of the extension they will increase 2010 so that it will be a 5 year contract on par with Lackey's deal.
